That's why I watch your channel. I don't think many guys would get an attachment that they've never used and record it being used for the first time. REAL WORLD STUFF HERE. The smile on your face told the whole story.
    Great video Michael!

New tools always bring a smile. I suppose more when they're that kind of tool. The flow valves will make you better. Slower speed of movement.

Mike, find a measurement on the 120 & 140 from the bucket up (reasonable height for THMBTS) to place an A/B cutoff Valve switch. There you can connect the hoses to the tilt bucket (A side) and the hoses to the thumb (B side). You will never have to unplug the thumb, just switch the flow valve from A to B. That will make it easier when switching out buckets by disconnect the hoses from the tilt and changing the valve to the B-Side. Now you have an easy way to switch from tilt to dig bucket without dealing with hose maintenance. Time to make things easier for yourself! 😁😁😁

Love me tilt bucket for my 35D. I ended up installing a Summit Hydraulic Rotary Selector Diverter Valve on mine machine. I keep both sets of hydraulic lines, thumb and tilt, hooked up. All you have to do is get out of the machine and flip a lever so you can switch between attachment function. Which I often do during the day. I never put a flow control on but I typically run at a lower RMP while grading and that makes for smoother tilt function.

    • @bluegrallis
      @bluegrallis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Instead of the manual operated valve, I would add a switch in the cab, to operate a solenoid valve to switch from thumb to tilt.
Cost of the whole conversation would be "a drop in the bucket" compared to the cost of the bucket ;) See what I did there 🤣

What you need to help even more Mike. Would be a 2 way valve with a tap on it. So you don’t have to always take the couplers off of your thumb. Plus the pipes would be shorter for the new bucket and your flow valve can be mounted on the arm of the machine and be a lot tidier to. But loving the videos.

  • @cullenmiller8170

You might want to consider putting switch over valves on the stick by the thumb. That way the thumb would be still hooked up and with the turn of a valve you can switch between thumb and tilt bucket. Than from the valve run some more hard line down the stick for the tilt bucket with the quick disconnect fittings. That would shorten up the hydraulic hoses and less chance of ripping them off. Also add some hose armor to protect the hoses since they are constantly contacting the thumb.
Hope the bucket works out well for future projects. I'm really enjoying the channel.

Nice toy you have there Mike.. yeah the swivel buckets can come in very handy.. grading and ditching if you have a swale bucket.. Mr A J Works over in Latvia is a 220E operator and he features the swivel a lot with the works he does along with the main dig/grade buckets. The tilt-rotor's i think are best suited to the mini's.. where you need to get in-between houses and tight awkward spots where you can dig, scoop, grade and finish at almost any angle like Hedblom over in sweden does with his house builds and precision landscaping.

We even have it on our mini with a thumb just can’t use to them both its one or the other. Once you get used to it it’s amazing what you can do with them. Awesome purchase DP

Like you said, that bucket is going to come in handy for ditches. I like it! I have a suggestion for SRS, make the bucket rotate. With that option, it might be possible to have the bucket at a 90 degrees angle from the front of the excavator. I look forward to the first drainage ditch you improve or build.
    Have good days!

Hey DP, if I'm not mistaken letsdig18 also had a flow issue when he first got his tilt bucket and he had to get some new nozzles or he had to get some kinda flow reducers to slow his tilt bucket down also. He also has a bucket that has a huge compacity but his machine doesn't want all the weight that bucket will give, so he has to be alittle careful what he does and what situations he gets into.

I have a tilt-bucket for my small "microdigger" and it's really useful. I understand your reasoning in regard to a tilt-rotator and maybe you'd get/look for more jobs where it'd be useful once you got one but if you're already fully booked with work, there's no need to go look for more. :)

Heck of a lot cheaper than buying a Gradall...if you can 180° it on the telehandler, you'll really be set,as all you'll have to do,is boom/telescope out and telescope back in to pull/load material..should make bank work really easy and keep your unit away from softer ground ..great attachment and commentary 👍

are you going to also fasten the hydraulic hoses so that they are out of the way of the bucket, so that you cannot hit them during working the machine (it seems to me that the chance is quite high that it will be damaged, and I have no experience with it it seems to me)

Nice bucket, I am sure you will use it more than you think :-). I got a tiltrotator for the first time this year, and I must say its the best tool i'v had. But I am mostly doing landscaping in tight places, It saves me from a lot of manual work. My tiltrotator attach to the quickcoupler, so I can take it of in a couple of minutts when I need to.

That looks like a nice addition. Don't let the "know-it-all" internet experts get under your skin, I can testify that everyone is an expert until it comes to actually doing a job, and "everyone knows" what tools you need until it comes time to pay for them. I've been watching for a couple of years, and I feel like you get the job done with an "E" for Effort, not an "E" for Excuses. Thanks for the early morning entertainment.

On the new to you trailer on Captains channel. Could put a rod pin or pipe pined in the eye on the end of the arm weld a bent flat bar on the end of the rod pin with a painted yellow circle plate welded to the end of the plate that sticks out flush with the side of the trailer frame to show up and down. Sure there was something there before.👈🤓😉👍Hint Hint Harbor Freight 8x8 welding blankets 44.99$.

Nice looking addition. I'd say some bungie straps or something to keep the hoses out of the way would be nice, but if all you're moving is dirt I guess the chances of damage are pretty low. Just be getting the hoses dirty and greasy. Maybe MBTS can weld a couple little eyelets on the stick to hook some bungies into.

Hopefully you blew the hoses out before installing them.....sometimes the cutting process puts the fine rubber dust in the lines. I was told this by my hose maker.

Nice setup, maybe weld some keepers on the boom arm so the hoses won't get in the bucket path
