I am about to start online courses for medical coding and billing , I am soooo thankful to have came across your channel! I feel 100000x more confident that I can learn this field of work that is explained to every detail YOU ARE THE BEST ! 🙌🏾
I am so happy and relieved to see that you have this available! I was trying to code infectious endocarditis in ICD-10-CM and was not sure whether to code the subterm infective 133.0 and continued down the list and found infectious or infective (acute) (any valve) (subacute) is also coded as 133.0. I am confused because the definitions of the subterm appear to mean different conditions but I am just not sure if I am over analyzing or on track or just confused!!! So glad you are here!
I love your classes so much! Thank you SO much for posting these. They must take you a long time to prepare for, and they are very appreciated. P.S. you're also adorable. :) Thank you for doing these!
first off you are so pretty.. second off these videos are wonderful. I have had several surgeries myself and have been able to go thru and try to code them and then look back and see what was actually coded. It has been fun. I am really looking forward to doing this. Thank you again for the wonderful videos
Coach Codemaster, if based off of the medical records, we report something that does not have a bearing on the reason for being admitted will that cause the claim to be rejected?
When you say, "does not have a bearing on the reason for being admitted", was it treated? If condition was not treated, it should not be coded. If it was treated, it should be coded. Therefore, it will not cause the claim to be rejected.
In my upcoming video, I explain how UHDDS applies to the outpatient setting. However, you are correct, they are beneficial in the outpatient setting because they help you decide what to code.
Hello Coach, I have a few questions about UHDDS. 1. Is UHDDS only being used for inpatient ? 2. Is UHDDS for Medicare and Medicaid, or normal doctor visit or both ? 3. When is data collected, hospital admission or hospital discharge ? Thank you for answering, I appreciate it.
Good questions: UHDDS is captured for inpatient stays (hospital, nursing homes, etc.) It started with Medicare and Medicaid but has expanded to others as well. This data is collected at discharge when the principal diagnosis can be determined.
Good morning, I will like to say you have been a blessing to me. I would like to also be a blessing to you. Do you have a address where I can sent you a token of appreciation.

Are the UHDDS, UACDS AND MDS the same basic concept?

If an office (orthopedic) is associated with a hospital, would they make use of the UHDDS? I could see where it could be beneficial if they did.
In my upcoming video, I explain how UHDDS applies to the outpatient setting. However, you are correct, they are beneficial in the outpatient setting because they help you decide what to code.
