I am so proud of this song and band. No shoegazing for them, a full Liverpool psychedelic-like breath of fresh air. ‘Britpop' really found one of its peaks here in its sweethearted, groovy, innocent, positivity. Shame that the world at large doesn't necessarily know the full breadth of creativity from British bands in the 80s and 90s. It was like a second 1960s for some people. The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays etc.
Completely agree. Indie rocknroll from Britain arou d this time was, probably, the greatest style of music. My missus is Spanish and had never even heard of band s like The Roses, etc. She loves them now. My kids, too.
I've been looking for this video since I saw it on MTV once. I had to wait for the internet and then wait for social media and then AI to find out UK single where lead singer sings with a popsicle. Thought I found the song but only occured to me two days ago to look for "US version." You're welcome 1991 me.
I agree with Picnic - this is a stand out track that delivers its unique feel and vibe - I love the swagger and sense of freedom and the sheer joy of creating a hallucinogenic soundscape. Climb aboard this groovy train and stay on it till the end of the line - you won't be disappointed!
to the moron who has a problem with "groovy train" being shot with a bus as the prop. dude, there's nothing cool about a train, a bus riding around the city? that's cool. you were probably in diapers in 1991, or perhaps not even conceived. this song was so big in '91 you couldn't avoid it - the sort of hit most bands in rock history would give a left nut to have. besides, "Groovy Train" never had anything to do with an actual train - it was about a vibe, a ....groove. did ya miss that part? cool, enduring song, fun video - and you, the dude who just had to find fault with an otherwise fun song? it's past your bedtime. 😛
Heard this song for the first time in twenty years today at the grocery store. Found myself singing along with the lyrics, wondering how the fuck I even knew them.
Why were there two videos? And how did I see both back in the day being in the US if this is the "official US release"? I saw them both in 1990 but I'm more familiar with the other version.
No, you mean the shite we have to endure today is terrible, wouldn't you agree Kiernik? This is a classic song, from the era that had artists who could actually sing and perform, please tell me, what crap have we got today? Just manufactured dross.
Maybe if they hired some hot white women as backup and as models this song would have got promoted somewhere? Good song but by the early 1990s if it was not black and stupid it was not getting airplay. Good progression of 1980s British alternative music in this 1991 song. Weird ghoulish black backup singers though.
This would otherwise be an awesome video if it weren't for the fact that the lead singer is air-humping us with the food he is eating. I mean FFS who does that? The second version of this video is worse and should haver never been uploaded. FTLOG can someone awesome do a cover of this song and tell the actual underlying story??
The original party bus from the summer of 1991. It's been ages since and far too long. Epic times those were.
I heard this today on 99x in Atlanta, this song kicks ass

Lol . True- never found myself at a house party or in a warehouse dancing to the Smiths or Joy Division
This came out my senior year in high school. It was a great time in my life.
Kewl! I forgot all about this song! This band reminds me of a combination of Blur and Jesus Jones. Thanks
OHHH THIS SONG! Brings back so many memories... Great times... I wish they could come back...

"Groovy Train" filmed on a bus. Genius. I'm now looking for a version of "Living on a Jet Plane" filmed on a ferry.

Loudest band I ever saw in concert - and they opened for Johnny Rotten's PIL!
Heard this song for the first time in twenty years today at the grocery store. Found myself singing along with the lyrics, wondering how the fuck I even knew them.

Awesome Music Video
great bass line
1989-1992....MAXXIMUM !!!!
The footage works as a metaphor for the significance of insignificance. And thats why it rules.
Can we turn Groovy to Gravy and make this a Gravenberch chant for the terraces? 😂
Why were there two videos? And how did I see both back in the day being in the US if this is the "official US release"? I saw them both in 1990 but I'm more familiar with the other version.
I was promised "granddad". Did not deliver. i love the video with the granddad on the little train. This. is. Bollocks.

Daymon Sandles Roundy's and Copp's grocery chains in Wisconsin must use the same Musak. Good music in those stores.

Is the girl part of the group? Great voice.

Even though it's quite clearly a BUS and not at all that groovy.

it is great tune, video is kind off agh, but funk is awesome ...

Davin Dx Shut Your Blowhole.
She makes the song & video!
the video is far too 90s for my taste

Most of the stuff today is so mind-numbingly boring and predictable.
100% groovy? 100% bloody awful.. looks like a music video shot by a gang of drunken students the day before the deadline...
Great song, terrible video
jesus this was terrible
Vons grocery store music led me here.
