Over the past 24 hours I have used a small paint brush to glue ends and to affix glue to places that I want to lock into place for a particular design. I am very grateful to you for leading me to this technique. I appreciate all of the finesse that you add to your work and to mine.
Thank you so much! I spent money buying expensive glue after getting advice on a different channel. I tried the school glue and love it! I can't wait to tighten up my technique by cleaning as I go and not using so much glue!
I know this is probably over a year old BUT i am so glad i was able to find you and your channel and learn some really interesting things about quilling. I have only been doing this on and off for a couple of years and only recently decided to try it again. Seeing these tips and tricks is awesome! Thankyou so much you have a new sub from me and a HUGE thumbs up. Much love from Australia
Thank you so much! I’m so glad these helped. You’re kind message is exactly why I do this! I had picked this up after a hiatus and found it frustrating that videos would show making things but not explain. I thank you sincerely for watching! Feel free to join us on fFB at Quilltopia we would love to see you there.
I’ve read many of the comments, but have not seen a description of the type and size of board that you used to create the filligree design. It doesn’t look like a mat board. Also, what type of paint was used to create the base. This is extremely captivating work, and I admire your patience and design ideas. Thanks for sharing your work.
Thank you for your questions. On the piece in the thumbnail is done on an artist board (wood). (Link is below, there are many size options) I used a standard spray paint on the base. I like Krylon but any spray will do. After you’re finished, spray w clear coat. Take a look at my video on Finishing that has some great info. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful knowledge! I am new to quilling and your video has been super helpful I very much appreciate it and you! Also to let you know in Canada we can get press and seal it is amazing stuff💥💥💥🙏🏼😘
Brilliant very helpful video. I love your black on black piece its so effective, what did you use for the background card or paper. Im a learner and the glue information is so helpful. Thank you for sharing I have liked and subscribed from UK xx
The back ground is an artist board (wood) that I spray painted black. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking everything has to be glue to a form of paper. You can literally quill anything that you can imagine. I’ve done lamp shapes, glass, mirrors, plaster, wood, watercolor, pastels, acrylics, etc. I’d suggest watching my finishing video where I go over that in detail. This piece worked like assembling a puzzle but in most projects you should glue your quills to each other before you glue them down. Thank you for watching! We have a group on Facebook called QUILLTOPIA we would love to have you join us!
@@kineiya it’s a personal preference really, I have them from 2 to 6 up to 1/2” brush for cleanup. Whatever you can easily control and is comfortable for you. ;) thanks for watching!
Is the board you show a shape board? Mine doesn't have the graph, did you add it to your board? Yes Press n Seal is a great product. Lots of good ideas for a beginner or a frustrated quiller.
They are. I got mine in a kit a loooong time ago. BUT, I recently found more (link below). The shipping is super slow but they do eventually arrive. Mine took about 3 weeks. They are slow but they have some fun supplies. :) www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003180654746.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.766b4c4duHCnUg
Glom basically means to latch onto something. It can indicate theft (one can glom a wallet or glom onto someone else's idea, celebrity, etc.), but essentially it's a matter of clinging and "sticking to something like glue". It would have a double meaning if you found out that someone stole one of your original ideas for a gluing technique and was selling it as their own!
Techniques for quilling can be quite universal. As I said in my video, someone gave me the advice years ago and I like to pass on wisdom to others, especially when it is effective! :) Thanks for watching.
@@quillingquelly1785 Yes, it's a wonderful way of living life and I certainly wouldn't wish a negative glom experience to happen to you! That dark work is amazingly beautiful. Do you have a video of you making that work of art?

Oh. And, I bought multiples from the site. If you use it a lot, like I do, the center eventually starts to wear out. :)

@@RaraAvis42 There is a quill along on a similar piece. It’s navy blue instead of black and the center is different. ;)
I spread mine with an old marta pass card. It's not as thick as a credit card, but it's rigid paper for sure.
Excellent tip!!
