Both are incredible. After listening to those two for a few years the American singers are not very impressive at all.

Ariana has the most ease but she just doesn't have power compared to these other singers. Son Seungyeon is underrated and probably has the best technique here. I kinda feel like she wasn't showcased very well here but she doesn't have a lot of perfomances. Ailee love her sass but she's too chesty and her sound thins out as she ascends. Katrina has amazing breath support but she thins out as well at some point. The way she adds runs to her belts are amazing.

They sound very very exciting. They just would not take a high note simple, they had to add flavor and challenge themselves vocally.
in the Philippines, growing up, you'll be exposed to the vocal trinity as well as old music with damn hard vocals. I know Filipinos loves high notes but that is the standards in the Philippines. If you don't have a mind blowing pipes you'll be categorized as an okay singer. Also everywhere you go there'll be karaoke. Every family, every house in the Philippines owns a set of karaoke. Can't afford a voice teacher? no problem do karaoke and sing all you want. That is their practice. That's why most Filipinos can sing even if it's not on the level of Morissette and etc. they still have pipes.

What separate from Morisette from them is that, she belts with so much soul. Her belts have so much fullness, well- resonated, very powerful but not loud. Her vocal tone is immaculate.🥰 Katrina can also compete with her solid super high belts and her agility is insanely great! She can sustain her belts forever.

They might have also used pitch correction, too. For example, sohyang's tv performances are almost pitch perfect but when you check fan cam videos of the same performance, she sounds off pitch sometimes.
PH clips are very raw(no edits/autotune)..unlike other vids are edited by sound engineers..I'll go for ph's..the quality is real and you can feel everything..
Morissette's tone is just a cut above the rest a lot of singers could hit those notes perfectly but the tone that Morissette hit those notes with are just different 🤷♂️
The reason Ariana’s voice is so light in comparison is because she isn’t in chest. She’s mixing. Watch earlier videos of her and you’ll hear more of her chest voice.
I heard that singing in the mix or mask is the best way to sing and doesn’t affect your voice negatively in the long run. I think Ariana uses a much heady mix what she needs to do is focus on a balance between head and chest and also reduce jaw and tongue tension but it’s easier to type this than actually do but I do love her voice though even more than the other singers in the video and example of a perfect singers in the Balance mix category would be patti labelle and Karen Clark sheard.

The fact is that she places her voice entirely on her nose and uses a really predominant heady mix allied with a lot of nasal constriction, so it’s easier to do these notes. It’s not soooo hard or unusual if you appeal to these “hacks”.

Unfortunately her technique went down due to the pop market. Ariana’s mix is not even near of being ballanced. Her head voice ratios are 80-85% on it. She does not have any kind of chest weight while belting. Mariah is the best example of a Light Lyric Soprano with ballanced mix.
