Co-sign nearly every single decision on this kit. Only thing I would suggest is trading in the sm7b for the mv7. At nearly 1/3 of the cost when taking into account the cloud lifters and able to work with one single chord if doing anything digitally (which by the way, riverside is absolutely the truth), it can still do XLR in put for in person recording. I’ve sold 4 sm7b’s from our team and swapped them all out to mv7’s! Great lineup, Omar!
Question of the Day 💡 What other gear do you recommend for podcasting? We are always trying to up our production! Start using Riverside.FM for FREE here: ➡ riverside.fm/?via=sean-cannell
We added headphones and a small ART headphone amp for ALL conversation (there's 2 of us, and we bring guests most days) but even with us both it's like a last resort issue check. If we can't hear it no one can!
Thoughts of recording a solo TH-cam video on riverside? I have a sure mic and a razer webcam. I can’t afford a comers at this time so I’m trying to make something else work for now.
1: What’s the thin vertical light tube you have to the right in the background? 2: are you using a mist filter on your camera to get the blooms in the highlights? It looks 💯
Great vid - thank you so much. I am shooting with my long-deprecated Samsung NX1 and an HDMI capture card. The Samung NX glass is pure gold. But onto something more relevant: What you "forgot" to mention is .... the colour of the table. The white tabletop beautifully bounces the light and fills in any shadows caused by light from the top, creating a much softer look. So to anyone out there wanting a fresh, happy studio look, consider a white tabletop.

Sm7b was an industry standard in broadcast for decades and made famous by its use on the Thriller album. Engineer Bruce swedien says it worked perfectly for Michael Jackson’s hee,s and whoos which was over 40 years ago. Proceed.
Omar! Can you make a video on how to set up everything for a video podcast? I am such a beginner, I am not sure of what to hook where. Looking to start a video podcast solo then introduce guests in the future.
This is great advice! I'm happy to see the Fx3 to my surprise, that's my main camera! I have 2 questions: 1. I am debating between a few cameras for my b-cam/secondary cam. I was recommended the a6600, any suggestions or reasons not to buy it and get the A7s3 instead? 2. Depending on which 2nd cam I get, which lens should one use considering the b-cam will be a close-up/portrait shot. currently, looking at the Sigma 56MM F1.4F.. thoughts?
How do you connect the multiple cameras? Or rather, what are you connecting them to? Directly to the computer? or is there another device they are connected to?
A lot of great tips in here! Especially the one about bouncing the light off the ceiling, I’m starting a podcast really soon and have been messing around with the lighting in our podcast room so i already know that’ll help touch it up, keep it up guys👏🏽
We are knew in Videomaking. We have a great camera, a good acoustical treated room, but the Audio is still not great. A good Microphone is of course a must. But do you edit your Audio in a seperate Software (EQ, Compressor, Limiter) and import it Back in your video software? Or does your video software offer audio plugins?
Around Thanksgiving my mom removed the carpet from the entirety of upstairs which was a problem as I had only the blue yeti mic at the time which would have been a nightmare for not only my podcast but also my videos even though I make gaming videos luckily I convinced her to buy me a small carpet to put in my room so I can record. That also pushed me to get an audio interface and dynamic mics from now on
Hi Omar, this was super helpful. If you are interviewing someone online using a site like Riverside, what equipment matters most? DO I still need the acoustic blocks for the wall and the same type of light?
Just came across this video. Been following your channel for sometime and you do a fantastic job educating all of us. My question is, if you have two mics how do you mix them together with your video? I’m using iPones for my video.
Which way you connect your Sony cam with xlr sound to your macbook for riverside calls? Only a hdmi to hdmi cabel? What do I have to consider here? Thank you Think Media Team! Great Content!
Wow, this is amazing thank you so much. I am a Doctoral student and I am making a podcast for grad students to help avoid burnout, by providing different tips on stress management, money management, and more. With that being said, I just want the most basic equipment. I will invest in the camera, but honestly as a grad student on a limited source of income, could you recommend good enough “cheaper” equipment? Thank you so much!
Great video? But does a beginner need all this setup? Can we not do with our iphone? I have iphone 14 max pro. and I do have a Blue Yeti micro phone and ring light
Hey think media It's always great to watch your tutorial videos. Concerning the audio recording with the "Zoom" you don't mix after recording? Example garageband or other.
Great vid & info! Thanks! I was wondering what kind of laptop or desktop you use, and interface (like a UA Apollo, rodecaster, Tascam mix 4 ect. ? Thanks!
Hey @thinkmediapodcast ! I can't find the tall light bar that is used in the background of the podcast setup in any of the affiliate or kit links below. LOVE that light! Can you give me the name or link to buy it?
Hey Think Media, this video came at the perfect time! I've been teaching my students about podcastS and they're eager to start adding video to their podcasts. We're currently building out a studio and have ~4k for 2-3 camera's. Any suggestions? We'd love to hear what cameras you think we should be looking at.
I shoot video podcasts for my clients and I use the Sony A6400s. Great cameras!!! They shoot in 4K and have no record limit like some cameras so they are great for putting on a tripod and recording for hours without overheating.
Hi i am about to start my podcast i bought fx30 and i am looking for an affordable lense to go with it. We would be sitting on a couch and chairs having conversations. What budget friendly lenses can best suit this, please
I have been preparing video+audio podcasts for the last several months. In contacting Buzz Sprout as a hosting platform I now know they only allow MP3 formats for podcasting. What remains a mystery is which hosting platforms can handle both MP4 for further upload to Apple and MP3 which as you well know goes to the other platforms.? Any ideas? I agree with you video+audio are powerful ways to communicate however, if no hosting platforms can handle the MP4 files, what is the point?

Yes, please do the video on the customization of the plate on the mic. The branding is subtle, clean, and luxe.
Setup is amazing. Certainly was inspired! 👍👍
Nice touch on the SM7B "think" logo
Love the custom label for the shure. Do a video on it!
This is definitely an inspiring video. You really got creative with the set up, the fake wall is everything 🙌🏿🙌🏿
Great instructional video. Thank you for making it simple.

Thanks for great video. My iPhone and camera turn off after 20min of filming. Any tips on making sure it stays on for the whole time?
