I used to use paper towel and while yes it has its benefits, it was still a bit of work having to change it all out and replace as I have alot of decor in my tanks. I've since made the switch to non adhesive shelf liner and it's much more easier to tend to. Just clean up poop, wipe the area down with whatever cleaners you use and you're good to go. Sometimes you can find shelf liner in nice natural colors that fit well with your set up and is tough for them to tear should they happen to clamp down on some. As far as digging goes, instead of doing a full switch to loose substrates providing them with a dig box will do the trick. I use eco earth and moss in mine and my three constantly use theirs.
That’s a really cool idea! I haven’t heard of many people using shelf liner before. I’ve heard of dig boxes, and while I like to have something that is more similar to their natural habitat, they are great substitutes for those who don’t want to risk impaction. Have a great day!
Great video! I use paper towel for three of my Geckos and it works great, but it's not natural and one of my Geckos loves to eat and he is sometimes a little clumsy and bites the paper towel and I have to get him to stop lol. And you have a very good point when you say that the don't have the digging enrichment. When I moved Gypsy, my oldest leopard gecko, into eco earth, she started to dig, but with paper towel, they can't. Have a great day!
Nice video! I have paper towels as the main substrate but I do have a hide with eco earth as a kind of dig box if she gets bored or lays eggs. unfortunately, she started using the hide as a litter box so it's a bit harder to clean but 🤣
Great video! I usually use paper towel every once in a while while I clean out it’s substrate. I find that I always have to tong feed on this substrate to lower the risk of intake from the towel. I am not sure if that could have an affect on impaction.
Great vid! I'm a new subscriber and a bit of advice, try to avoid saying filler words a lot like "um", "and", "like", etc. But overall, very informative! :)
Thanks! And yes I've been trying to work on that but it's kind of out of habit. I've been slowly getting better but it's been hard as I am not much for talking:)

Thank you and I agree! You have a great day too
I still use paper towels in my quarantine enclosures but in my regular tanks I use organic top soil with a mixture of play sand. My Leos love it
Very cool! I'm going to be switching my leos to that soon too. Have a great day/night!
