@@craighanson-rc1md Very true. Everyone no matter how strong they are have a different type of pain tolerance. My special ops cousin who told me about the pain tolerance does in fact have an issue with pain when it comes to his brothers when they rough housed when they were younger and then all went into differnt branches of the milltary. He said that there was always something about the punches and slaps they all did to each other the brought them all to their knees. That and their mama's wooden canoe paddle on their behinds.
1. Most doctors I know would not try this more than once before throwing their arms up and saying surgery is needed. Honestly I didnt know it was possible to fix a hernia this way until this video most go right to surgery (unless you’re overweight then it’s lose weight ASAP but eventually surgery) 2. The whole episode is on Hulu right now so I just watched it in it’s entirety. I suggest everyone watch it to get the context of why Choi fought so hard to keep this patient out of surgery but without spoiling anything, this patient had extenuating circumstances that made surgery particularly problematic. 3. I wish more doctors (especially ER doctors) would apply such a level of discretion to each individual patient and not just follow paperwork/checklists but would instead see individual nuanced human beings with their own obligations and responsibilities that they cannot ignore even when it comes to their healthcare decisions. In my experience too many doctors push the “put yourself first so you can take care of others after” argument. And it’s a fair argument. But it’s also dismissive. Doctors don’t just do that without hesitation, it’s not fair to ask patients to.
There is a reason for paperwork, checklists and procedures. For every doctor you see that breaks protocol with a good outcome, there are 10 more who break protocol and cause far greater harm to either themselves or the patient.
@@jordanwardle11 its not about breaking protocol its about treating patients as individual patients with unique circumstances not a Medical Issue Robot you going through the checklist with.
