    Another brilliant interview by Sam. He knows when to be quiet & let the conversation flow by itself.
    This shouldn't be a TH-cam channel, it should be a series of half hour documentaries on mainstream TV.
    All the very best for both Keith & Sam in the future.

    The sad thing is, prison is only easy for those with no humanity.
    For the rest, who make up the vast majority, it eats away at your humanity.
    I think what we need is more tiers of prisoner, to give help to those who want to distance themselves from criminality, and separate them from those who thrive on it, and prey on them, unless they embrace their environment.
    Because sadly, to survive amongst the worst of people, you have to prove you're willing to be just as bad.

    Love what you both said about prison not being a holiday camp ive had quite few people say ahhh prisons a holiday camp(they've never been to prison)ive been too strangeways quite few times aswell as hindley young offenders for very short spells all because of alcohol and drugs (mainly alcohol) and its a scary place to be,ive not been in prison in about 15 years i was sober for 4 years till last year,back in February this year i came very close to going back to prison,i turned up at exes pissed shouting my mouth off coz she owed me money police came i called 1 a homophobic remark an initially got charged with hate crime also threatened violence to 1 of the coppers, the hate crime was dropped to lower charge luckily and i got 12 months probation order,4 months alcohol tag,a fine,and a 12 months restraining order from ex wot neither of us wanted (the police made it happen even though ive never laid a finger on her)im 4 months clean and sober now, like u said sam you don't reckon u could do a long stretch i don't think i could either

      The main reason at present with prisons is mainly down to staffing levels so prisoners are locked up for longer so they can't obtain any form of education or courses so it can lower there risk which in itself is very frustrating for the prisoner therefor there mental health will suffer and also with drugs being everywhere prisoners are using out of pure frustration and if there serving an ipp sentence not knowing when there getting out can only impact directly on there mental health and there families also will suffer cos there serving the sentence also which most people don't understand so the home office need to get the staffing levels back up to safety levels cos it's dangerous also for them aswell as prisoners and more needs to be done with a care package for prisoners on release instead of just giving them £68 And leave them to it cos most will just come back mainly down to having nowhere to live so it's just a vicious circle which needs to be broken so the government needs to do more around prisoners upon release so I hope that your family member gets the help they need and doesn't get lost in the system through no fault of their own so good luck and take care bye Andy.

    Rehabilitation needs to be encouraged more. The best people to keep youngsters out of prison are the lads who have been in prison. Ex cons should be allowed to be probation officers after they have proved they have turned their life around. A part of that would be studying to be a probation officer.

    'I think prisoners should be compensated'. Well I bloody well don't! Having worked my arse off, studying, grafting, pushing and sacrificing for years and decades, I now pay 40% income tax. If you think I would want to work harder and harder, to give yet more tax to prisoners to 'compensate' them, you want to have a very very serious rethink. Try it, and watch millions of workers stop working.

      @@markdennis930"millions would stop working" nobody has the bottle to stop working. Look at everything that's going on, do you see anyone downing tools? Peodo rings left and right. Government doesn't now it's elbow from it's 🍑 hole. The police are a joke. NHS crumbling day by day. Educational system has failed on so many levels, the wankers (sorry bankers) help run the monopoly that keep the rich where they are. There's more I can mention but I hope you get the point. I think the only time people have some balls is when there kids start getting affected. Most would rather pretend the problems don't exist and carry on regardless

    • @KeithHarrison-h2q
      @KeithHarrison-h2q 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You obviously haven't heard a word of what we said. The ipp sentence was abolished by a government you support because they said it was inhumane and barbaric, it was only in power for7 years yet there are poeple on that sentence who were given a 2 year tariff and r still in 20 years later. Its an abuse of power and criminal so my friend, you can't have it both ways, u either support crime or you don't. The government r keeping poeple in on a sentence that no longer exists and yes I agree with you, poeple in general who have been to prison don't deserve compensation however, u talk about your taxes....Well do you know that you r paying 40 plus thousands of pounds to prisoners that should have been released 18 years ago?

    • @KeithHarrison-h2q
      @KeithHarrison-h2q 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is obvious that you misunderstood both Sam and myself. We r not saying that every prisoner should be compensated. What we r saying is that the government u support abolished the ipp sentence after just 7 years cos they said it is barbaric and inhumane, infact the politician who brought it in said and I quote...this was the worst mistake of my political career, y you may ask? Well there are prisoners who were given 2 year tarrifs and have been in 18 years beyond that. The other thing you mentioned were your taxes....Well my friend do you know you r contributing each year to the 40 plus thousand that it costs to hold each prisoner. Please don't forget this sentence was implemented for sex offenders and terrorist but the judges abused their power and gave it to who they wanted to give it too. Finally my friend you seem to be a hard working man so let me ask you this, you either support crime or you don't? It's your government who r commiting the crimes now by keeping people in prison on a sentence that no longer exists.

      rough childhood ending with homelessness where prison just seems like bed and board.
      that's the most common background for a prisoner in the early days, they're not all career criminals and those that are just don't give a fxxk.
      why do we all have a sense of judgement?
      it is not for supporting the criminal enterprise, government.
