I heard OCD Mikey say yesterday that he thought this room was accurate, detailed, etc., but did not have an emotional feel to the music. I understand his perspective, but Pilium plus Magico sounds pretty good to me.
That's always a ridiculous take. What he means of course is that he didn't feel any emotion; it's not a "system" that produces "emotion." My wife gets emotional listening to Taylor Swift on her laptop. It annoys me when audiophiles ascribe their subjective feelings to gear itself.
"Emotional feel" can be unique to each person. It can also have different meanings and impacted by a variety of things. Often, it's things other than the speaker... It could be the room...Simply hearing the wrong song at the wrong volume can impact your emotions... sitting outside the sweet spot... Noise floor of people talking... Etc. In terms of the speaker, Mikey has always had open baffles as his reference to my knowledge... so that difference may be what he's referring to and different from his tastes. I like tall open baffles as well, but it's hard to beat Magico for those who like point source box style speakers.
