And now we get to see Catherine and Eugene still being their funny selves Tuesday nights on CBC, CBC Gem, and on the PopTV app. :) So it's just more ways for her to be funny. :)
@shirtandtiewilldo Yes, the last year or two of the Tomorrow Show was not exactly it's finest hour, but through most of the shows run it was very special. I wish some of the earlier episodes would get released on DVD or turn up on TH-cam.
All the talk about censoring the word "crab" on network TV back in those days; fast forward to Eugene and Catherine's most recent collaboration: where they had problems saying "Schitt's" on US network TV.
Snyder was somethin' else. Obviously didn't do his homework. Calls Catherine Kathleen, doesn't know any of the characters they're portraying....Mumbles,fumbles and stumbles..no wonder comics made fun of him all the time. Only in America!
I remember seeing this when it aired originally. I loved SCTV, although, it was almost better when it was a half-hour syndicated show and they were working with a shoestring budget. People have made a lot of fun of Tom Snyder here, but he did some groundbreaking things on his show. It wasn't the usual talkshow fare most of the time. Less than a year after this aired, The Tomorrow Show was cancelled and replaced by Late Night with David Letterman.
David Letterman is a smarmy, "I'm better than you, even though I'm a completely annoying arse", unfunny toad that somehow made millions upon millions of dollars for being such a hack. Even Conan was better than Letterman.
@goofywilly ---wondered thatnumerous times myself. Some of SNL skits were really funny, but they dont compare to SCTV. SNL also had a lot of humorless skits towards end of the show. SCTV didnt have many bombs; the humor was often more subtle. Maybe that was the reason
That's to their credit. Canada showed America that it truly is an LCD nation, and it's a small miracle that we've managed to continue to exist since that dust-up with England.
Catherine O'Hara was a stunning beauty. She was so nice and just a delight.
Very funny and talented
Catherine O'Hara was just stunning! And so talented. The rest of the gang was great too.
This is awesome and quite rare! Thank you for uploading it to TH-cam for all of us to enjoy!
SCTV was and still is the best!
Tom Snyder was a great talk show host. Miss his presence on TV to this day...

"Thanks, Kathleen." Dude, her name is Catherine (the Great), get it right!!!

I'm doing a Tom Snyder laugh right now like Dan Akyoyd.
Catherine O'Hara.....va, va, voom. She must've been somewhat destracting to work with- I know I would've been distracted anyway.....
I remember when this came on
@shirtandtiewilldo --Letterman is funny but he cant interview a guest for even a minute. Tom Snyder was greatest talk show host.

Joe Strummer and Mick Jones molested his teddy bear.

@chasspeed ---guess thats why it wasnt nearly as popular as SNL. But way funnier.
@goofywilly - It did make it. It was awesome, and most of the cast went on to greater success.
SCTV should have had a longer run on NBC.

It seems like Tom was flirting with her a little bit.
SCTV was never very good at aiming at the lowest common denominator. There were jokes on SCTV that I didn't get until 20 years after I saw it.
