Lyrics:
His eyes, they closed and his last breath spoke
He had seen all to be seen
A life once full, now an empty vase
Wilt the blossums on his early grave
Walk away me boy, walk away me boy
And by morning we'll be free
Wipe that golden tear from your mother, dear
And raise what's left of the flag for me
Then the rosary beads, count them one, two, three
Fell apart as they hit the floor
In a garb of black, we must pay respect
To the color we're born to mourn
Walk away me boys, walk away me boys
By morning we'll be free
Wipe that golden tear from your mother, dear
Raise what's left of the flag for me
In this place there grew an angry festered wound
Filled with hatred and remorse
Where I pick and scratch 'til the blood amassed
To silent rage now that fills my lungs
For there are many ways to kill a man, they say
With bayonet, axe or sword
But son, a bullet fired from a shapeless guise
Just put the shell of a Thompson gun
Walk away me boys, walk away me boys
And by morning we'll be free
Wipe that golden tear from your mother, dear
Raise what's left of the flag for me
From the east out to the western shore
Where many men and many more will fall
But no angel flies with me tonight
Though freedom reigns on all
And curse the name for which we slaved our days
So every men chose Kingdom Come
But sure as night turns day it's the passion play
Oh, my God, what have they done
With madmans rage, well, they dug our graves
But the dead rise again, you fools
Walk away me boys, walk away me boys
And by morning we'll be free
Wipe that golden tear from your mother, dear
Raise what's left of the flag for me
Walk away me boys, walk away me boys
And by morning we'll be free
Wipe that golden tear from your mother, dear
And raise what's left of the flag for me

This man went from singing in a metal band with Fast Eddie Clark of Motorhead and Pete Way of UFO to leading the only rightful successors to the Pogues. And at 61, still plays with more energy and conviction than performers a third of his age, Dave King is an inspiration
This guy parties and knows whats up
Fastway will pale in comparison to the legend of FLOGGING MOLLY
My grandpa passed away last night. This song always reminds me of him☘️
Sorry for your loss. RIP Grandpa.. I pray he is in a better place than we.
Belated condolences 😢
❤
We Mexicans will never forget what you Gaelic folk did for us, may Saint Patrick's Battalion be always remembered!
Vivan Los San Patricios! Sláinte, a chara.
Hey thanks man!
God bless the San Patricios!
El batalion de san patricios!! Irish-Mexican unity!
I thought it was the Mexicans who helped the Irish during the potato famine and the Irish have always remembered.
Irish family here... I'm introducing our boys to their heritage and thought might as well throw in some flogging molly! These boys hear the fiddle or an irish accent and I swear their knee starts jumping and hands clapping... all they are missing is some beer!
"Might as well" I would start them off with Flogging! Shliante!
Have u introduces the pogues yet?
@@booky_the_vampire_slayer4156 haha yes my youngest likes them alot. he's 1.5yrs old
@My name is Tim, I'm a lesser known character ummm yea it isn't weird to them. But hearing a fiddle and Irish accent normally means you're about to listen to some good jams.
Irish or not, I feel like if you can't have some fun or enjoy Irish music then your soul is dead.
Flogging Molly are about as Irish as pumpkin pie.
Very underrated song. Definitely one of my favorites from Flogging Molly
Nearly 15 years and this song still slaps beautifully as it did when i first heard it
15 years. i heard this song for the first time in 2002 2004 , 20 years now
I've attended many different concerts -- from thrash metal like Darkest Hour, to classic rock like Blue Oyster Cult, to country like Lonestar, all great -- but one of the best was a private concert with Flogging Molly, sponsored by Jack Daniels, in Portland, Oregon, circa 2007. I may be Scottish, but I love that Irish singer. 😂
i am a 5th generation Australian and both sides of my family are Irish descendants and im quiet proud to have part Irish bloo. Great song
Just found you Flogging Molly....your tunes ring in the heart of this little Aussie.
Welcome to the brotherhood.
agree, they need to get what's left of there flag down here to aussie
And this little Irishman’s as well, lad.
I don't think they'll ever perform in India...rip.
@Luke John Potosky You guys have The RumJacks! Their last 2 albums are better then the last F.M. album. BE PROUD AUSTRALIA!
As soon as I hear the opening part to this song "His eyes, they close. His last breath spoke" it takes me away instantly. This song brings so many different emotions to the surface.
right there with ya guy
In my top favorite musical groups!
I love their music so much it aches, sometimes
Does that make sense?
this song bring me closer to Jesus. Love it
@@lapislazarus8899 No, I know exactly what you mean! I discovered them in my early teens so a lot of my fundamental moments in life had Flogging Molly playing in the background so it genuinely does make my chest ache when I hear one of their songs. I guess I'd call it a nostalgic ache lol
Just saw FM at the Palladium in Los Angeles and they began the set with this song. They tour Europe and have made it big, but the purity is still there. By far my favorite band to see in person.
Yes me as well. They put on a pure show. It's inspiring.
Brings a tear to my eye every time I hear this.
Wife and I loved this song.
My Irish bonnie has been gone a year now: I can hear this song and not break down anymore.
Thank you!
is it just me or does everytime i hear this song it just gets better and better?
I remember buying "Swagger" back in 2001, a year after it came out, and absolutely falling in love with Flogging Molly. Then Drunken Lullabies came out, and was easily my punk rock album of the year in 2002. I went to Warped in Tinley Park that same year as an 18 year old, we listened to the entire Drunken Lullabies album on the way there while smoking some good bud, and having a few drinks (I do not condone underage drinking, or drinking from open containers in a vehicle. We were young, and dumb). We got to the Tweeter Center early in the day and got to catch a lot of great shows, before Flogging Molly came on about mid-way through the day (iirc) and absolutely killed it. What I wouldn't give to go back and be 18 again, and relieve that awesome day. Keep on rocking Dave and crew, I love you guys! :D
Amazing how you put the disclaimer about alcohol but act like smoking weed is just fine
I Love you Dylan God Bless God Rest Your Soul. SEMPER FI.
Irish...My we save the world with their dynamic spirit... And Flogging Molly is a super example
Ich liebe diese Art von Musik ❤❤❤!!!
I've been listening to the flogging Molly's since I was younger my uncle introduced them to me my mother's family imagrated from Ireland and England so it was nice growing up hearing her play the fiddle parting glass was my favorite song when I was growing up
Love Flogging Molly. Saw them @ Shamrock Fest a couple years back, pouring down rain, sound problems, beer ran out, best fooking time ever!
It'll bring the house down! It's a powerful song, it has an amazing story, and it will guarantee not a dry eye in the house!
love this band, lights the fire in my belly, hey from South Africa!
Turned all 4 of my lil ones onto floggin🍀molly at an early age and it stuck...theres somthing about their sound/lyrics that just resonates at any age and for that is say thank you!
I'm hooked to these guys and the Dropkick Murphys.
I'm pure Scot but I still love this and Ireland!
Aye laddie, there's three things that the Scots and Irish have in common, and them's drinkin, fightin, and lovin music. Or is it drinkin, fightin music, and lovin? Or is it drunken fighting, music, and lovin? Or maybe drunken lovin, fightin music, and awww shite what was I sayin?

My friend booked them to the irish pub Sullivan's in Erie PA in the early 90s. They were great .
One of the great Flogging Molly songs.
I loved seeing them in concert with Dropkick Murphys
Me too! Denver about 5 or 6 years ago. Perfect compliment to each band.

This makes me proud to be an irishman, even tough I'm from sweden
My favorite Flogging Molly song.
after my friend's funeral yesterday a group of my friends went down to our favorite spot on the river and made him a memorial while singing this song.
That's beautiful mate. Life is so short. Every day is a blessing. I lost my best friend around the same time as you. I remember.
Seeing them tomorrow in Cincinnati. Can. Not. Wait.
here we go! x
From one Dave King to another Dave King , Well Done, Mate !!
Enjoyable song! I find those Irish voices pretty cool to listen to.
I named my daughter after this band in honor of my family's Irish heritage and damn good music.

@@martymannering8361 🤣
Loving these guys from South Africa! This is music!
@bassassin1837 Saint Patrick's Battalion (Batallón de San Patricio) was a unit of about 200 former North-american soldiers of mainly Scottish and Irish origin that left the American army to fight for and with their fellow Catholics in the 1846-48 Mexican-American war. With the American victory the Battalion was naturally disbanded (and many if not most of it's member executed, as they were considered traitors), but it is still remembered by the "Saint Patrick's Battalion Bagpipe Band".
The Irish are strong and proud, not to mention just plan out Awesome!
The Irish heart is always burnin strong
Mix em with the Jamaicans and I swear the party is deadly!

one of my favourites at all!
Stand for your culture my friends. We are all agents of what we know to be good, and also agents against what we discern to be evil.

pitbulls are nice dogs they ain’t trained right i had one before he died and he was the sweetest dog
I always have a strange sense of de ja vu when I hear this... One of my favorite songs! lol And I agree with rhysdonaghy! I'll bet he/she is Irish, as well. Because that can only come from someone who is. Or someone who's just awesomely(and hilariously)smart.
Every time I get Plastered.... I start singing this song....
I am not Irish but I can feel the lyrics and I am ready to march and die for what´s left of the flag!
That was a beautiful thing
Woodstock 2015 !! :D
this dude was the singer of fastway I n the 80's. along with the original guitarist from moterhead. check out say what you will.
This ones for Shane MacGowan 🍻1957-2023🍻
Is there anyway to like this video more than once?!
I'm in this video haha I'm the girl with blonde dreads that Is bopping around the rialto in Tucson 😂😂❤
I know, but they were just three songs to be played at my funeral, not just three FM songs. If I expanded that out to five or so, I'd have to throw in Going Out In Style, and Next Year by Foo Fighters.
Rest in peace, Tom Begley. I miss you so much!
gosh, now i wanna rock in a concert of them! why u never go to Barcelona??
Grande Flogging Molly
Hail Ireland from Spain!
Happy St Patricks Day!!!!

Not as Irish as I'd hoped, but more than most in the U.S.
And you are as much an Irish, as you love this song....
Born Belgian/Italian. Citizen of America, But I somehow feel that the blood that flows through my veins is IRISH! Erin Go Bragh!
Had the pleasure of seeing them twice (Both in Halifax) ...like listening to the Irish Rovers brawl with the Sex Pistols
Green red bulls outta a 32fl oz drinking horn for everyone till we cant stand no more. 2021 St. Pattys ᛊᚲᛟᛚ
i love...
In American sports, the Blacks© get their 'anthem' (... although none of them can agree on which)
For balance and to honor us Irish, I vote this anthem as absolutely required.
Floggen Molley is the best vs music ever
How this song could not stir anyone's blood....
Love the irish
nice song nice band
kinda makes me wanna cover myself on green paint
Aye!
this literally sounds like this one song from splatoon 2, i couldn't find any that sounded like forever. I found this because my college professor was playing it in class 😭

1. If I Ever Leave This World Alive
Jadoville!!
I've been looking but is there even an official music video for this song?
"We must pay respect to the color we were born to mourn" Happy St. Pat's
