I Spent 7 Days on a $1,000,000,000 Luxury Cruise Ship

- I’ve just disembarked a cruise on one of the most exciting and expensive cruise ships in the world where I saw and did things that I didn’t know were possible at sea.
The ship I was sailing on was Celebrity Edge built in 2018 and she is home to the world's first floating restaurant platform that rises up 12 decks on the side of the cruise ship.
Want to find out what it's like on a 'cheap' alternative I mentioned in this video: • I Took The Cheapest Cr...
Considering a family-focused alternative, check out my review of the Norwegian Prima here: • I Took a Futuristic Cr...
Prefer a British cruise line, I spent a week cruising with Fred Olsen here: • I Tried a Traditional ...
For years I’ve cruised with the budget and mainstream cruise lines but a cruise on Celebrity Edge has always been just out of reach, as much as I wanted to do it. When I saw that Celebrity had an offer that meant that flights would only be £1, I decided that it would be a good time to give it a go. I’ve wanted to take my Mum on a cruise for a while and this seemed like the perfect opportunity for a quality mother-and-daughter adventure, or so I hoped.
Before this cruise I didn’t know what to expect from Celebrity or from the ship, I’d heard great things about the food and the entertainment but I’m pretty sure that this is the most expensive cruise that I’ve ever paid for. I didn’t know how it could realistically be worth the price that I paid and like with any cruise, alongside the great reviews there were also plenty of bad reviews with some describing Edge as ‘disappointing’ and a ‘major fail’.
We embarked the ship in Barcelona and set sail for a 7 night Mediterranean cruise. My cruise actually started off in a more stressful way than I’d have liked when we were directed into the airports car park to pick up our transfer bus, my cruise had the transfers included. We couldn’t see the bus anywhere and couldn’t get back into the airport to ask where we were meant to be going because everything was one way, we were just faced with escalators that were going the wrong way and I didn’t fancy running the wrong way up one of those. It was hot and after about 15 minutes of frantically running from bus to bus I was thinking that we would just have to give up and get a taxi and hope that our bags would be taken to the ship.
All of a sudden we saw our bags on a trolley across the car park, I was so happy to see them. We followed them to the bus and were able to ask the person working there where we were meant to be. It was not the straightforward start that I was hoping for but I was sure that the cruise would be worth it. I’d just be arriving a little more flustered than planned!
The stressful transfer situation was more than made up for when we managed to check in for the cruise in about 20 seconds. Pre-cruise we had already taken our security photos, filled out the health declaration and added our credit card to our account so when we arrived at the port, all we had to do was show this QR code which was checked against our passports.
I’ve embarked on cruises in the past where it's taken 2 or 3 hours, so checking in in 20 seconds was pretty incredible. I hoped that this was a sign of things to come.
As soon as we stepped onboard we were directed towards our muster station which happened to be the theatre. It’s a legal requirement that on all cruises all guests have to complete a safety drill and this was once again made very easy because we’d already watched the safety videos on the app, all we had to do was go to check in at the place where we would muster in case of an emergency.

Here is a little tip I use so I don't miss my transfer bus. I always put an "Air Tag" in my bag. If I get lost in the airport, I turn on the find my bag - since I know the bag is going under the bus ... if I find the bag... I find the bus.🎉😂

I genuinely don't care about cruises, I have never been to a beach let alone a big ship like that. But the way you discuss, share, and bring us into your experience makes it interesting. I love TH-cam because it makes worlds that would be uninteresting or inaccessible to us not only accessible, but also truly entertaining!! Thank you!
I love this! This is exactly what TH-cam is for. Thank you! 😁❤️
I am on Team Lizard. Dude gets to live on a billion dollar fancy cruise ship, he's got life figured out.
Team lizard?
He’s a legend 😂😂
That's Alfie Anole!😁
Emma, as a person who has been on over 35 cruises and watches many, many youtube cruise reviews you have an amazing talent to get the most information out in the shortest time. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much 🥹❤️
And, so **importantly** she makes it interesting!
...and entertaining!
You're right with your WC theory - in all hospitality builds regardless if they're on land or afloat, whether its a restaurant, bar, club or hotel where the contractor will skimp first to save budgets is the WC, also the first place of neglect is the WC - so quality WC is a good sign for a venue.
I believe this is THE cruise line for my first try. As a foodie and a child-free solo traveler who would prefer an interior cabin I'm pretty sure this is what I want for my birthday. Many thanks!
@fairwfriend I believe all cruises are pretty good (any problems are absolutely 1st world problems), but yes, I am of your parameters. If you can swing the cash, celebrity is definitely the best balance of Cost vs. Fun & overall staff & food quality.
I'm amazed at how complete and concise you transfer a load of useful information to us, it's like we've seen all of the ship ourselves! What strikes me is the usage of plants, art and luxury furniture that makes this ship look very enjoyable
Thanks so much 🥹❤️
You always smile and look so happy, you are probably the most feelgood channel on YT
Thanks so much 🥹❤️
Really an excellent video that captured all the best parts of the ship. You packed a lot into this one and it showed that you really liked the ship. The $200 a night per peson is really an excellent price for a ship and experience of this quality. We were on her sister ship, the Apex, in Sept of 2021 in the Greek Islands with only 501 passengers on board and it was amazing. You are absolutely correct that Celebrity has the best cookies and best buffet at sea and the quality of the food is really first rate. I only do three lines now, Viking, Celebrity and Oceania and Celebrity definitely offers the best bang for your buck.
I totally see why!!! 😅❤️
I thought coke was mainly on Carnival lol
There is no way on earth you get this for $200 per night. NO WAY.
200 pounds not dollars.
@@sherrjo, she *clearly* said 200 pounds.
Okay, your Doctor Who reference just earned you more points. :D
Any establishment, restaurant, hotel, ship, can be judged by its toilet/bathroom…totally agree!😊
We sailed with Edge week after Emma's cruise and had a great time. Check-in as mentioned in the video was a breeze, the cabin was modern and clean, the bathroom was good size for the cabin class. The crew was friendly and efficient, and the food was very good throughout. Overall the experience was a cut above what we previously had with NCL. The only thing I think that could have been better, was the lobster dish on the formal night. It was a gimmick as the lobster was more crayfish than lobster, and at around 3-inches no larger than a prawn. I would happily have paid 30$ more in fee in order to have real lobster.
As far as price goes, it wasn't any more expensive than similar offers from RCL or NCL.
really? RCL? say more
I have no desire to get on a ship but I do binge watch these videos.
Haha. Love it!! 🥰❤️
Me too
@EmmaCruises Emma, if you ever read my comment, I'm obsessed with your videos. I don't know if I'll ever take a cruise, but I think you'd make a wonderful travel companion. I'd happily "table share" with you. Love your energy. Cheers! 🇺🇸
That lizard is a American anole. Their main habitat is the southeast US and the Caribbean. Some have been seen in the Canary islands, so maybe it came from there. However it was most likely a stowaway when all the plants were brought on board. It is just odd to see them on a ship in the Mediterranean.
Ooo interesting! 😀😅
The best cruise content creator - Emma could read a phone book and make it sound interesting 😂😂
Oh you, maybe I’ll do that. 😂
I’ll read the terms and conditions from the cruise 🤫
@@EmmaCruises 😂
She sure could, whilst eating cookies
Yup. Nice honest cheerful review and narration ❤
Hi Emma. I'm a travel agent from Canada and I picked a Med cruise on this ship for my girlfriend and her husband. Booked a concierge infinity veranda for them. They had an amazing time and now they are hooked on cruising. Thanks for a great video and best regards from Ontario🤗
Thanks so much Anita! Much appreciated. :)
I love your positive attitude, don't even like cruises, I just like how nice and upbeat you are.
Haha, Thank you! 😁❤️
1 billion cruise ship is something I never thought I would see in a million years, what a time to be alive
I know right?! Bonkers! 😂
It is a ship for 3000 passengers, and it is only twice as expensive as Jeff Bezos' personal yacht. Quite a steal when you think about it.
You know there are private yachts that cost up to 500 million, and they are WAY more luxurious than this thing 😂
My wife was so excited that she was wearing the same Capt. Hudson blue shirt that you were wearing when you were talking during the vlog😊
Awhhhh 😀🙏
I love Emma's videos on cruising even though I absolutely loathe cruising. My biggest issues are I always feel trapped when the ship is at sea and I'm always seasick.
Lol...my family has already evaluated auto mechanics by how they keep their bathrooms and it does carry over to ships. It's never failed us.
Congratulations on 250,000 subscribers. We have really enjoyed this video as we have sailed on the Millennium and Solstice class but not on the Edge class (we have booked the Edge in 2024). Even though we are not "inside cabin" cruisers we still enjoy your commentaries and honest evaluations and it was nice to see you broaden your scope with a balcony on the Edge. 👍
I definitely will be repeating it 🤣❤️
Great video! After doing a few cruises I've learned that I'm not into the whole floating Las Vegas/Amusement Park thing. I think the Queen Mary 2 is closer to what I prefer but there's a cruise ship for everyone depending on their tastes 👍🏻
Definitely Agree! Well said! 👍🏻
As usual…..Emma….you provide such detailed cruise ship and tour information….I love listening to you!❤️
Thanks so much 🥹❤️
I don't know if you showed or mentioned the thermal spa suite, but it is amazing and a nice escape if your ship is close to capacity. Captain Tasos is a hoot and has a unique personality. I recommend the staterooms + classic beverage + thermal spa suite pass. Don't burn your funds on a luxury suite, cruising is for inexpensive stress-free getaways. Book your reservations at the restaurants prior to your cruise. Normandie and Cosmopolitan are my favorite restaurants on the ship. Be sure to check out Eden late night after the theatre show for some entertainment.
After my first Cruise on the Apex I had double back to this video. The food in Celebrity just is off the charts (you dont need to do the speciality restaurants when the food is this good).
We had a Premium drink package and it was fantastic to just get drinks and go all week.
The shows were excellent and between the Edge, Club and Theatre.
My only complaint on my trip was not enough time in some ports.
We did the Eastern Caribbean and I have no complaints really about the ship. Hard to complain about the Edge Class ships
So, in the US, we do use the word cutlery. But it's mostly used when talking about nicer / fancy forks and knives. We also use Chine when talking about fancy plates and bowls.
We loved the Edge. This October we are doing a Trans Atlantic on the Beyond from Rome to hopefully see Captain Kate which we were fortunate to have on the Edge in 2021. We used to be Loyal to Royal until we took a Celebrity Cruise and now alternate between them. If you really want to be pampered try the Retreat and I guarantee you will be saving your Pennys to do the Retreat again. You get a Butler, included Gratuities, Deluxe Drink Package, and Streaming WIFII.
This was a great video. Most cruise ships don't interest me, but this definitely does. Love your videos - so much fun!
Thank you! 😁❤️
tbh i never ever had any interest in cruises until i found your channel. now i look forward everytime to your new videos & adventures!
🥳🥳🥳
Delightful as always. Congratulations on reaching 250k; a well-deserved milestone. I am certain there are many more milestones to come.
Thanks so much 🥹❤️
Thanks Emma, that was a great review, really informative. I’m a very seasoned cruiser, mainly on Princess, a fair amount on P&O, and 4 on HAL. I’ve never looked at Celebrity, but you’ve really peaked my interest with your video. Really glad you had a lovely time with your Mum. 🥂
Love it!
Emma you should check this out, Princess cruise line has a 10-day Mediterranean cruise on the Island Princess from Southampton to Rome on October 30th for only $798! I think that fits your “less than a hotel on land” preference and it’s on a higher end cruise line, I would love to see you review it if you’re free then! 😊
I have other plans but sounds great! 😀🙏❤️
That's a great price as in the UK this is valued at $1200 where can you get it for $798 please let me know? I'd love to book this but on all TA sites here in the UK this is £1098 for an inside.

Love this video, thorough, balanced, and fair but still with your opinions coming through. I'd be interested to know what ships you've been on had a bad bathroom because your vids are always pretty positive!
Awesome video Emma!! Love this ship class & it was nice to revisit it through your eyes 🛳️👏🤩
Once again,, a wonderful vlog. I've been on EDGE in the past and this was a VERY good overall review. We LOVED the infinite veranda room!
It's my favorite ship. We've sailed her twice. I'm so glad you got to experience it!
I exclusively cruise with X because they are simply unmatched by other cruise lines. I like to refer to them as a ''neo-luxury'' cruise line. My wife and I just can't wait to set sail in December for our upcoming 11-night Caribbean cruise aboard the Beyond, which happens to be my wife's first cruise ever! I'm also thrilled because it will be my first time on an edge-class ship! Being true foodies, I definitely agree that the food on Celebrity cruises is absolutely top-notch. Admittedly, their prices might a bit higher compared to other cruise lines, but I can assure you that every penny spent is well worth it. Wishing everyone happy sailing! ❤MA
Agreed! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
No offense but you sound a bit arrogant.
@@davidponseigo8811 I love the "no offense BUT" so typical... You sound baseless, no offense though :D
How many other cruise lines have you travelled with recently to give the "simply unmatched" comment?
@@sherrjo Over the last 10 years, I have traveled with Princess, Virgin, and RC. The last time I cruised with Celebrity was about 12 years ago, aboard the Equinox. Even though it was an older ship, I was genuinely impressed by the outstanding service and delicious food.
How beautiful is this ship? I absolutely LOVE that rooftop garden - you made me buckle with that lizard reference, ha! your food looked absolutely excellent - I'm so surprised that the food you showed in this video was in the Main Dining Room (it looks SO SO good!).
Excellent video report Emma. We have been lucky to have been on the Edge twice and what you say mirrors our thoughts exactly. It has been our best ship so far. Best wishes from Hertfordshire
We did our first cruise on Edge a week after this… it was my favourite holiday! There are wonderful details, food was amazing, great service, Eden is beautiful and there’s loads to do. It never really felt busy other than in the buffet. The only negative - they need a pool lifeguard; there are signs to ask people not to let kids bomb or bring newborns into the pool, but they still did. There’s an adult-only indoor pool not far from there though and it didn’t detract from a phenomenal trip.
Edge has been my favorite ship so far, we were on a month after the restart and only had 700 on board. It was like a semi private trip. Can't wait to go on the Ascent in 2025.
We’ll be on the Ascent in June 2024! Very excited 😊
Awesome video and congrats on 250k subscribers. So much great info and you not only tell the good things but also the bad things to watch out for.
This cruise really looks lovely! 🤩 I love the modern design, the green areas and the food looks amazing (so much choice! 😱) I think I would gladly pay a bit more for a cruise like this than one with many coloured slides and 900 children 😅
😂😂😂
If only the colored slides would empty into the ocean............

Love the Edge! Sailed a 21 night Mediterranean cruise in 2018 and have a 9 night Australian cruise booked for April next year. Can’t wait!!
Excellent review Emma! I really enjoyed your video. It looks like a beautiful ship.
I used celebrity in Alaska and Europe on the reflection, it was beyond amazing experience. The staff were so kind and the excursions were very well done. The ships are also similar to one another so if you know on ship is most likely you would be able to find pretty much everything first try. Everyone still talks about it and it was about 3-4 weeks ago! Would go again.
🥳🥳🥳
I saw this notification and thought surely not Emma! She’s a budget Cruiser!!!!!
Ha ha! The things I do for the channel eh 🤣❤️
wow..fabulous review as always Emma...Impressive ship...thank you
Thanks Emma. We are taking our first ever cruise on Edge in September, from Barcelona, and this video really enforces that we spent money on value. Great review, cant wait. Keep em coming.
Have the best time ever!!!! 😀❤️
This ship is on my bucket list. So happy to see your review!
This is an excellent video! I feel like I say that for all of your videos, but in my defense, you keep improving and making better videos. Also, I think my favorite feature is the rooftop garden, which just seems like such an unexpected delight for a cruise ship. Oh, and the little lizard. What a traveler!
Awwhh thank you! 🥹
I was really looking forward to this video. It was very good!
i love captain dimitri!! sad he’s leaving the edge to go to the ascent, but happy for him! great video emma.
Congrats on 250,000! I've been watching you for I don't know how long. lol I do appreciate your videos very much!

Celebrity Edge looks like a great cruise ship. Looks like you enjoyed this cruise. Great video Emma
Great video! 🙌🏻❤️ My mom is taking me and my husband on an Alaska cruise next summer on the EDGE. After watching this video, I absolutely cannot wait to see this ship 🚢. Looking forward to your video about the infinite veranda as well.
If you’re ever in La Spezia again you can walk 20 minutes to the train station and then enjoy the Cinque Terre for €20! Love celebrity (they were my first cruise) but been on RCL recently due to price. Glad they’ve brought back the World Class bar and the Sunset bar in the latest ships.
🥳🥳🥳
Love how you just explain everything you show
Beautiful ship! You captured it well.
I've been following you and enjoying your videos way before the pandemic. I always love everything you post. Not surprised you've hit 250+K as you are so amazing at this. Congratulations!!!
I like the infinite veranda better than a balcony I think. You have a full view from the whole cabin that is not blocked by balcony furniture and bars. You can still get the fresh air. Plus, you can leave the window open all night, even if just cracked to get fresh cool (depending on where and when you are) air. The cabin itself is also bigger.
We're booked on the Edge and greatly appreciate your preview. Thank you for your videos!
Yay! Have a great time! 🥳🥳
Wow, looks amazing, there are certainly some amazing cruise ships around.
We did a sky suite on the Edge a few months ago. It was crazy expensive but somehow so worth it that we booked the same for the Beyond next year. As much as I love other Celebrity ships (all non-suite), the experience in the Retreat on the Edge is totally next level.
What did you like most about your experience?
I am currently on the Beyond. In a suite with Retreat access. Next time I would spend similar amount and go on Silver Sea or Seabourn. The Beyond is great value for money in a standard stateroom.
Loved this so much Emma. been waiting for awhile.. great job
Thank you! 😁❤️
Just recently I found your channel and I love it. Thank you, enjoy you’re weekend.
Thanks so much 🥹❤️
Great footage… I think I need a trip to Portofino! Been watching before the pandemic and love your content !
Awesome video!! I am boarding the Apex in April and am so excited to go on the Edge series. I may try and jump on the Reflection before that as I have only sailed on the Millennium which was my first cruise and gave me the “cruising bug”. Lol. Now I try and convince our travel group to abandon all inclusives for cruises whenever possible!
Great video Emma, very indepth and informative.
Thnx for the review. Love this ship. More a relax cruise than a party boat.
Thank you! 😁❤️
This actually looks like a cruise I could enjoy. While the “party” boats look fun I think I’d be done after 2 nights and start to hate everyone and everything. This looks so relaxing.
I believe that Celebrity is my favorite cruise line. They describe themselves as a premium cruise line and, even with the cutbacks that all cruise lines have done, they live up to the description.
That ship looks incredible. Wow. I really want to go on an Edge Class ship now.
A great video, Emma!!! Been on one Celebrity ship many years ago to Alaska. I agree with your findings. Thanks again, for your knowledge and insight :) Waiting on my Hudson, can't wait for him to show up :)
I had a great time on the Edge out of Miami! It was fun to watch the video, thanks Emma.
"No Kids"...that got my attention.
This ship looks amazing. I would want more than 7 nights, just to explore everything. It can go on the bucket list...

Yes Emma I have been following you since before the Pandemic & was amazed how you managed to keep making videos during the Pandemic.
Haha, tried my best! Thank you! 😁❤️
Lovely video. what a Beautiful ship & Hudson too 😍

excellent video, Emma! Definitely put Celebrity on my bucket list.
Great review glad you had a great time
Thanks Emma. I will have to cruise on this ship as it looked amazing
Thank you! 😁❤️
Very informative and great content as always! Nice to see a separate vegetarian menu on Celebrity. We sailed in April on Discovery Princess, and MDR have a separate all vegan menu but you have to ask your server for the menu. The vegan menu repeats, I believe, on 10-day cycle.
I’ve been watching Emma so long I remember when she was a low/cost cruiser.
What February? 🤣❤️
That Eden entrance looks like an installation art piece!
It does!! 😂😂😂
Thank you so much for mentioning the smoking areas. Very helpful.
Emma I really enjoy your videos. You always have such helpful information and I appreciate when you report on the specialty menus that some ships have and the efforts that they make to highlight allergens like gluten. One thing that you never mention is food options for diabetics. Sugar is my allergen and some foods are obviously friendly. I am curious though as to whether any ships you are on offer "sugar free" options for desserts as opposed to "no sugar added". Thanks again for all you do and keep up the excellent work.
Yes, I did watch you before the lockdown, and still here.
id love the infinite balcony cabin, much more than a normal balcony :) and would love to rooftop garden area, it looks stunning :)
Great video. What a cruise!
This is my dream ship.. never been on a cruise, but if I'll ever go in the near future it will be on this one.

That honestly looks like my dream cruise- alas, not in my current budget (unless inside cabin deals can be found)! Ah well, maybe someday...
