The greatest writer 📝 in the English language. His plays and sonnets are still performed today and we often quote his work even when we don't realise it. Thanks Mr Shakespeare ❤ 😊
I was always told he was born and died on the same day, 23rd April, St George's day.. As a poet myself, I understand this fully, It is the ultimate poetry, making your life a complete symmetry...
I was up Stratford paul a few years back paul such a wonderful place steeped in history people from all over the world came to visit the birth place of william Shakespeare so thanks again for another great show see you in the next one
Paul, Gutted that I missed this live! I consider Shakespeare not only a legend but a national icon. I am somewhat perplexed. Whilst churches need to be closed at times, such at nightime, surely they should be open for people to worship??? Thanks for a brilliant presentation. Chers, Bob
Great filming. I was there 60 years ago this year as a student. Those days life was casual and walk round anywhere. I saw his grave etc. no tiresome officials. Stratford has been a magnet for tourists for centuries and you are one of those. Will anyone ever dare dig him up and face his challenge? None so far.
Brilliant video Paul, I was only up in Stratford upon Avon a week ago staying at a hotel for the weekend with my girlfriend, lovely beautiful place, we went to the birth place of William Shakespeare. I'm so glad you got to take pictures of his resting place, it was really good to see.
My husband and I visited Stratford-upon-Avon and saw the outsides of where Shakespear was born, where he retired to and the cottages of his wife and his mother. We didn't see his grave so a BIG thank you for this video Paul and for making the long journey to film it xx
How sweet to let You inside to take a few pics... beautiful interior, too. Hope You're feeling much better by now - looking forward to Your next upload!💕
I am totally in awe!! Thank you for what you do. I would never have seen it if it weren’t for you. I mean, how many people get to see something like this in their lifetime?
Loving the intro... you just up the road from us... Stratford up Avon is a beautiful place... Great video Paul, her cottage was beautiful. Keep up the good work 👏 🙌 ❤
Shoot! Couldn’t watch live, work🙄, but loving it now! Have cousins in Warwickshire, beautiful countryside even in the rain. Excellent video Paul! New intro is Perfect too!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What a stunning church and grounds. Those cottages were gorgeous. Really enjoyed the vids Paul - thank u for driving up there and filming. It looked a nasty wet day so appreciate what filming u do for the channel xx
Evening Paul and another great video. This is one of those final resting places that is curious to most. Thanks so much for showing us around . Have a great week👏🏻☀️
Love your great work paul , your videos transport us to si many places and graves of those we knew , places we ordinarily would never get to Thanks again for this one
Keep your videos coming Paul, I really like the back stories you do leading up to the 'I think I found it' moment. Without sounding morbid in any way, that would be apt on your own headstone!.
I didn't realise he had a resting place being in those days. How daft I'm I! Stunning video with the views and your informative tour. 👍 You learn something new every day.
Thanks for making this trip and video. Stratford looks to be a really nice place, but I am not surprised that Anne Hathaways cottage was closed. Old properties like that can be a devil to heat in the winter. Churches are mostly closed as there aren't enough volunteers to open them up and there are the usual problems with vandals etc if no-one is there. Today's society I am afraid. William Shakespeare's grave is very simple but well kept. The church looks lovely from what we could see. I am pleased that someone thought better of your request. 😀
Great video Paul. Thank you. Also I love the intro to this video it’s seductive and television like. Reminds me of TV series The Saint portraying you as a sexy investigator. Well done. The channel gets better and better over time.
Thanks for doing this one Paul, Shakespeare is one of my fav, I have all the Comedies the Histories and the Tragedies in book form my fav is Othello although they are all brilliant. Well done mate for the pics 🙂
Yes I remember visiting Stratford for even years ago and I was younger are interesting. Thank you for sharing that enjoyed watching you. Take care. Keep safe all the family drive carefully😊👍
Loved the video Paul, lovely church and grounds, the cottage was stunning, would have been great if u could have got in,nice of them to let u take pics of his grave, well done Paul x❤
I visit here at least once a year. I didn’t realise Ann Hathaway’s cottage wasn’t open in winter. Or the church. Fair do’s to the person that let you take a look inside. I don’t know what the harm would have been to allow you to film, but at least that person was kind enough to let you look inside. I’m more of a Charles Dickens fan too. But Stratford is somewhere I have loved to visit for the past 40 years or so. It was during lockdown that I couldn’t visit. The Christmas market is something I enjoy. There’s a little stone plaque under a tree near the church that’s dedicated to actress Vivienne Leigh. It’s often covered by weeds and not always easy to find. I have visited “The Birthplace “ house in the past. It’s an interesting building. And there’s a connection with Charles Dickens. 😉 You probably can’t film in there either. The town has changed a lot over the years. There used to be a replica of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre near the riverfront. I’ve seen many actors walking around the town over the years. I’ve been lucky enough to see a few plays at the theatre. Judi Dench and David Tennant, two of my favourite actors were as you’d expect were amazing. The butterfly farm is a good place to visit. Stratford, like many towns has lost many shops over the years. Woolworths, Debenhams, BHS. The Body Shop is a more recent store marked for closure. I’ve always fancied doing the ghost tour there. It’s a pretty place and worth a visit. Cheers Paul, nice to see Stratford Upon Avon on your channel. The Most Haunted live episode was quite something a few years ago. Did you see it? 🥄 😂 It might be on TH-cam.
Good work Paul. Watching this video enlightened me to the fact that who actually John Hoare is on my family tree of the Hoare family in Gloucestershire and that I'm related by marriage to William Shakespeare!
Good evening Paul, i visit Shakespeare grave a couple of years ago, visit Anne Hathaway 's cottage. You told the story about Shakespeare very well. Have a nice evening and till next time Paul
Anne Hathaway's cottage looked spooky, Thankfully you were overheard by that kind person. If you had to drive up to my region to see Emily Jane Bronte it would be even worse if you were not allowed.
Really enjoyed this one. I live 12 miles from Stratford upon Avon and have visited many times but never the church. Will definitely do it next time. Thank you.
Hi Paul, I remember going to see Anne Hathaways cottage on a school trip, we didnt go to the church but viewed it from the other side of the river . Im glad you managed to go into the church as always thought shakespeare was buried in the churchyard. Thanks for yet another intresting video.
I was there this time last year. The church was free to enter but they charged us £5 each to visit the grave. Suppose they’ve got to fund the church upkeep somehow.
When you think of how much tax you pay to live in this skip fire of a country, the least 'they' could do is give you free access to its culture. But when there's money to be made,we are treat as nuisances
Should be mentioned Shakespeares head is missing from his grave despite the curse written Shakespeare himself,to this day the whereabouts of his head is a mystery despite some theories to its location.
Hi Paul ,really great video …I love history so much ,So Always love the content and you tell all of these stories so well…Thankyou for all of the hard work that you put in to these videos….Always very much appreciated X💞
Ich werde mir das Video nochmals ganz in Ruhe ansehen. Ich hätte mich furchtbar geärgert hätte ich es verpasst. Schade das man das Häuschen erst im Frühjahr wieder öffnet. Aber verständlich. Toll 👍🏻 Thank you. Paul
I would love to be able to visit this place in person. Fantastic video. I really enjoyed watching it. Great photographs. It is wierd that the church is locked on a week day in the day time.
Good video and as like with your Diana video, the same conspiracy vibe aligns with watching this. Do have to bite my tongue at work whilst working in an office full of Shakespearean fans. 😅
Nobody can say you don't work hard for this channel Paul...your time, effort, energy and charm are appreciated more than you can know.
