I LOVE to hear you and your hubby having fun helping so many people! PLEASE don’t not listen to people who can’t ride the wave of letting us share your joy of all the people joining in to learn
Thank you, so many people don't know if it wasn't for these live events in the beginning there wouldn't be a youtube channel because without their encouragement at these live events is what helped me beable to speak infront of others, talking to yourself in a camera is really hard. And it was also because of events like this that I truly understood that so many people had an issue throwing away produce, that I really did have something God put on my heart to help others.
My husband is so happy I found your fantastic video on TH-cam! We live out on a ranch an hour from the grocery store. I buy produce and before we can use some of these, they are spoiled! We throw so much away! Thanks to you and your information we will be able to keep our produce fresher, longer! You are one smart lady! And love your bubbly personality!
I have a pomegranite tree. Heres how i prep them. 1) place all the fruit in sink and fill with water to cover several inches 2) core the fliwer end out like a tomato 3) score through skins from stem to flower end. 4) place thumbs in flower end and pull fruit apart into segments. Do this underwater to stop juice spraying. 5). Use fingers to release the seeds. They will sink. Everything else floats. If desired, you can place a sieve or colander at bottom of sink to make gathering seeds easier. 6) use a strainer and scoop all the floating stuff to trash. 7) gather the seeds from the bottom of the sink. Drain, rinse, and remove any unwanted material that got past the strainer. This method makes the least mess, in my opinion. It also makes it easier to do a sinkful of fruit for juicing and jelly making.
I did my cherries your way. Prepared them for our homemade cherry cheesecake. Which was a great success. I can tell your happy. Great on you, you should be!
I don’t peel ginger but I washed it in vinegar water and then let it dry and I put it the freezer and I just pull it out when I need and grate the amount I need with a zester
some great tips but ... I don't care for these really long videos. Hard to find what a person needs. I bet I'm not the only one who would appreciate individual videos on a particular topic. Thank you for sharing your tips.
I think the major issue with store produce is all the preservatives sprayed on them or slow ripe chemicals, like APEEL. Notice that washing that off, helps keep produce fresher.
Kiwi I honestly don't buy often because I am allergic to their skins, when we were taking pictures for the book my fingers hurt for a week afterwards from touching them. Wash both in vinegar water let air dry and store in the fridge.
Enjoying all these tips. Thanks! I was wondering if you need fresh vinegar and water for each fruit or veggie, or if it’s okay to wash multiple items in the same bath. I’m so tired of throwing away food! My crummy fridge tends to freeze even tho set to a low setting and that limits where I can place produce and even dairy items, so preserving as much as possible in glass seems as tho it might protect them a bit longer… but I already have a number of lockable plastic containers. Are they okay to use, as well?
After you wash something like strawberries you will see by looking at the water why I replace it often, but other items like peppers and lemons I will reuse the water. Just look at see how dirty it is and go by that. By washing the items you are killing off the harmful pathogens and mold and it will help them last longer but in glass it will last the longest.
Hi Amy can I leave my organic apples in a bowl on my table after that have been washed and they have stay out for 2-3 hours to dry instead of putting them in the refrigerator?
I wish you would share your peanut brittle recipe. One of my best friends passed away in 2013. She wouldn’t share her peanut brittle recipe and when she passed it went with her. 😢 I miss them both.
That is one recipe I will never share, Grandma made me give her grandkids before she would teach me all of the steps 😂 it's a true family secret recipe
I do have a Berkey water filter but I encourage any water that you would normally drink yourself. Our tap water has to much chlorine in it from the city and it kills my plants.
You mentioned that you can keep the pomegranates in the frigerator. Is there a certain place or a group of fruit that can go together with them or keep them isolated by their self whole. I have a small frigerator limited space. 😢 Thanks❤
I have a tree. I find the seeds store well in a quart jar. No water or anything. I purposely do this and they ferment mildly. I test them after a week or two. When it's my favorite flavor, I juice them and make pomegranate jelly.
I normally store them in the fridge and they will last longer. In the Fall I get them by the bussel to can so then I don't have fridge space but I am using them in a couple of days.
Hi, I tried to subscribe your email list but ,it keep saying I have error even though the picture verification passed. I would like to have your free book, if possible. Thanks.
Same as I would wash oranges, there is a blog post for more details but 1/4 cup of vinegar to a large bowl of water for 2 mins. After air dried store in crisper drawer with avocados
Green beans are also in the I Bought It, Now What? Book but I only soak those for 1 min and then make sure they are dry before storing in glass with a paper towel

Hi Amy can I leave my organic apples in a bowl on my table after that have been washed and they have stay out for 2-3 hours to dry instead of putting them in the refrigerator?
Yes, you can leave apples out if you do not have room in the fridge. They will last longer in the fridge but will do fine on the counter as well.
Hi Amy does the berkley take out the fluoride?
I now use a Boroux and you can view their full testing results on their website: boroux.sjv.io/WqbNWe

@@TheCrossLegacy thank you very helpful! 💜❤️💜
What is safe to leave on the shelf in your cupboard as I don't have much refrigerator space.
Potatoes, Onions, Garlic are a few.
Tomatoes, too 🍅
Do you wash golden kiwis?
Yes they are one of the worst ones for bringing in fruit flies.
Do you make your own filtered water, buy it, what?
I do have a Berkey water filter but I encourage any water that you would normally drink yourself. Our tap water has to much chlorine in it from the city and it kills my plants.

You talked, in your first two lives, about your grocery budget but you didn’t mention for what size household!
Our family size varies we are foster parents and also have college age kids now, over the last 5 yrs our household has varied from 8 to 2. We spend $135/person per month. www.thecrosslegacy.com/thegrocerysolution
You never responded to the tomato question.
What was the question it isn't showing up for me
Long videos and an ad every 7 minutes. Way too many.
Sorry TH-cam decides where the ads go, we don't have control over it. We also have a book if you rather get the information that way www.thecrosslegacy.com/book
I think your videos are a little long
These first videos were live events when I was first starting youtube. There are over 300 videos now and most are around 10 mins.
Do you wash golden kiwis?
Yes
