  • ABC’s Jeff Watson paid a visit to Echuca in 1973 after major floods ravaged northern Victoria. Local Graham Florence was on a mission to rescue his two trapped cats and budgies via rowboat.
Meanwhile the town rallied around bus-dwelling Jack and his wife by providing a tent, bedding and other provisions. Despite the circumstances, the pair were decidedly upbeat, passing the time playing music by the swollen Campaspe River.
This episode of ‘This Day Tonight’ aired on 7th September 1973.
