Well, it certainly relaxed me watching you paint this wonderful watercolour. So much so, that I nodded off and had to rewind back to where I last recalled the scene. My excuse is being 75! You are an exceptionally gifted artist. Your colour palette choices are sublime.
Thank you for watching and for your kind words! Your comment brought a smile to my face - I hope you enjoyed the mini nap induced by my video 😁 I must admit that sometimes I watch my own videos so I can relax and fall asleep faster 😄 💤
I'm the same when painting. I get the best results when I'm relaxed and in the zone. Because I work full time, I've now gotten myself into the habit of pacing myself. Doing bits of painting when I've got relaxing downtime, instead of trying to finish a painting in a short space of time. Seeing my paintings slowly take shape gives me the satisfaction and motivation to keep going. Whenever I rushed through a painting, the results were disheartening, and at their worst, traumatising 😂; and it would take me some time to collect myself and try again.
Yes!! I feel exactly the same. I think letting the scene unfold gently over a few painting sessions is such a peaceful and unhurried way to make art. I always have a few paintings on the go at the same time so I can switch between them when I feel stuck. I believe listening to ourselves and to our paintings and getting to know what works for us is what leads to growth… I do get an occasional traumatising result too 😂 Again, all part of the process of figuring it all out! Thank you for watching my channel, and happy painting!
Just beautiful…and so pleased your painting session ended with a triumph. Thank you , as ever for sharing your process and frustrations, gives us hope! 😁🩷
Thank you for watching and for your lovely comment 😊 Oh there is plenty of frustration here, it happens on a daily basis! It is all part of the creative process… And I am grateful for these little nuggets of gold that sometimes come out of that frustration ✨
you are so soft, earthy and magnificent. i’ve watched many of your videos and still trying to get to your level. i’m not much of a commenter but hope you continue to post your beautiful pieces. thank you very much for sharing with us.
Thank you for watching my videos and for such a lovely comment, it means a lot! I am glad you are enjoying painting along, and I will certainly keep posting new demonstrations here. Happy painting!
Anastasia, you have created a beautifully calm and restoring painting, with your signature gorgeous contrasts of dark green and burnt sienna - absolutely glorious! Thank you ! And your honesty and openness about your frustrations with not achieving what you aimed for initially, show us all that just by consciously slowing down and "trusting the process " you can create real beauty (although not as wonderfully as you 😊). Thank you so much for your encouragement, Anastasia . x
A very beautiful painting. Getting the result, you are looking for brings great satisfaction. Thanks for sharing your honest emotions that an artist goes through until you birth on the paper what is the beauty that is inside you. This is great encouragement to struggling artists who know what they are trying to express while seemingly falling short of their goals. I know it encouraged me, thanks.
Thank you for your kind words! Glad to hear the things I shared in this video resonated with you and encouraged you to keep going. It is so comforting that we all share very similar creative struggles, and that is is all just part of being an artist...
It is so peaceful, this scene! I love this piece. I’m going back to spontaneous painting soon. I love it so much. You make the calmest videos Anastasia. So grateful for you and your channel here and Instagram. As I’ve said, that beautiful sailboat painting touched my heart and reminded me of our sailboat Stargazer. Blessings! 💗Rita
Glad you like it Rita 😊 So happy you find my videos calming - painting in watercolour is such a lovely way to find inner peace ✨ Thank you for watching my videos and for sharing your thoughts ❤️
I am absolutely stunned that my version actually came out at all. I was certain it was going to be a disaster but just kept going and trying to follow you. Amazing.
Thank you for watching and for your kind words! So glad you find my painting process calming and peaceful 😊 It is certainly what painting in watercolour feels like (most of the time 😁)
This is impressive. I love your thought process and what you can visualize in a spontaneous painting. Great color choices. Every time I watch one of your videos, I think I should invest in some potters pink.
Thank you for watching, and I am so glad you enjoyed this one 😊. I think if you get Potter's Pink you won't regret the purchase at all - it is such a lovely and versatile colour, both on its own and in mixes. Enjoy!!
Oh!! I sooo needed to watch this today!! I´ve been in a creative "funk" lately. It seems that everything I try to paint just doesn't come up to expectations!! Watching this tutorial that teaches how to "let go" and enjoy the painting process has done the trick! Add to that the fact that I went to Jerry's Artarama here in Miami just to check out what supplies were available and found tubes of Daniel Smith manganese blue, quinacridone sienna and aussie red gold, respectively (colors that I had been looking for the past 6 months!) made my day!!! On top of that (talk about serendipity), I also found an excellent supply of 100% cotton cold pressed watercolor papers! Long story short, I went thinking I'd find nothing and found a treasure trove! Also some brushes to replace my very old and well used ones. Serendipity once again!! I ended up getting a club membership for $25.00 USD that gives me a 20% discount on all supplies. Thank you so much for your tutorials. They have made an immense difference in my painting! G-d bless!
And this landscape brought back beautiful memories of the Tuscan countryside I visisted so many years ago when I went as part of an exchange program when I was in graduate school student majoring in Romance languages. Tante grazie!!
Oh what a wonderful day you had!! Have fun with all those gorgeous art supplies! Nothing like a new colour or a new brush to bring that creative spark back! Very happy for you. Thank you for watching my video, and I am glad it did remind you of Tuscany ✨
I appreciate you being more open about your process. And the added explanations as you work. After 53 years of marriage to a man who was my best friend 8 months ago I hear his voice as I paint. “You are trying too hard…” and so I’m giving myself permission not to be perfect and learn.
Thank you for watching, and I am so glad that what I share in my videos resonates with you. What a beautiful way to hear your husband's voice... connecting with him through your art. Letting go of perfection is so freeing, it is the best feeling ❤️ Have fun!
No metallic paints in this one, I don't really use them in my landscapes. It is probably just the effect the pigments create on the textured surface of the paper. I do have a tube of Red Fuchsite Genuine by Daniel Smith that has a lovely shimmer but I haven't picked it up in a long time - thank you for the idea!

Glad to hear that 😊 Thank you for watching!
Oh I love this Anastasia, the process (as always) appeared peaceful and I felt I was definitely on the journey with you, brilliant! Thankyou!

This is still very much your style but the addition of that little house gave is jut a little bit of a difference. Lovely.
Thank you for watching and for your kind words! That little house was quite an unexpected addition but I love how much it transformed the scene.

Do you buy metallic paint or use an additive or is it just looking metallic
