Anyone still shocked that the Guardians overlay actually went this well? It seems like all of us were skeptical about losing Tower of Terror in DCA, but Mission Breakout is pretty much a best-case scenario as far as IP integration goes
It helps you can tell they put a lot of time and effort into this overlay, doesn’t feel cheap or rushed
Idk. It still looks extremely terrible and out of place for me. The tower design is just abhorrent
Even with Avengers Campus, it still doesn't really mix well, especially cause:
1. The attraction is still the tallest building in Anaheim, it still looks like an eyesore in a theme park that's meant to celebrate the wonders and beauty of California (Disney style), which obviously the tower design doesn't mix well with the rest of the park at all, not even in the context of Avengers Campus (how's the Collector's tower even in the "California Avengers Campus"?)
2. Guardians of the Galaxy is set in space. That's the very last thing you'd expect when you go on a "California Adventure" (same applies to Soarin' Around the World and Pixar Pier)
I’m a big Twilight Zone fan, so the loss of TOT at DCA was rather hard...and then when I went on TOT at WDW for the first time, I found the original TOT so much better.
So, I can live with MB at DCA.
It's the exact same ride, just a different theme.
I like the part at the end where Drax is asking why they are thanking the audience since the audience just sat there

I agree, 5th Wall Breaks are always interesting.
Thats similar to the coaster in epcot where he asks why they said "welcome to the guardians of the galaxy" when theres no room to take everyone on the ship
For anyone scared of this ride, whenever the drops or ascensions happen just hold on to the handle bars, lean forward and press your feet against the floor as hard as you can, that helped me eliminate that horrible feeling of my stomach just dropping.
Is that really going to work and how does it feel is it worse than the incredibles roller coaster?
@@BigTedx It worked perfectly for me, and the incredicoaster isnt so bad, the initial launch is very fast but the rest is fine, the loop looks scary but you won't even feel it, it helps to close your eyes during the loop if you really want to.

Not sure why but this almost instantly became my favorite drop tower, the ride cycle combined with the very open restraint makes it so much fun, especially with a group of friends
And its all dark which makes it more fun too

I respect the old one a lot (especially the better looking exterior and unbelievable lobby) but guardians is just *so much fun.* All of the towers are really good, but this one is my favorite for the purely enjoyable experience. I remember my friends and I all looking at each other when we got the song we had wanted and then singing the whole thing, that just doesn't happen with ToT
Whoever came up w the idea of escaping the collector so it makes sense to be in a lift is a genius

I grew up going to Disneyland and went to TOT alot. When I heard they are going to get rid of TOT I was sad. But when I heard they were going to replace it with Guardians of the Galaxy I went bananas. Guardians has to be my favorite Marvel movie and when I got to ride it for the first time I was blown away. The story, animatronics, and most importantly the music was amazing
Yesterday was my first time on and I loved it! I was dancing to the music the whole time.

I ate a massive breakfast burrito then went on this ride at like 8:15am right when the park opened. Needless to say, I was very close to projectile vomiting afterward. However, still a super fun ride! Probably shouldn't eat a big meal before you do 10 consecutive 50 foot free-falls.

Although I do miss the Tower of Terror, Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: BREAKOUT! Is really fun, adventurous, and thrilling.
The story could use some work though, the collector who held them in their cells for display…is the same Collector that was working out a deal with them for the orb in Volume 1…

A Guardians of the Galaxy ride is a lot more suited as a roller coaster (there's going to be a GOTG roller coaster in Epcot, although still feels just as bad as Frozen Ever After replacing Maelstrom) or a simulator ride like the Iron Man Experience and Star Tours than a drop tower ride, worse when, again, it replaced a beloved and timeless classic just for the sake of showing off cashgrabbing with Marvel...
They didn't have to replace Tower of Terror at all.
@@kendrick5501 Ellens energy Advanture wasn't a classic and beloved attraction. It was a lame and outdated attraction and the new Guardians of the galaxy roller coaster atrraction is gonna be way better for Epcot since Epcot is already pretty lame now.

I went on Guardians of the Galaxy twice with my mom and I was little scared of heights but I did it twice so I wasn't scared anymore. Also, can you do the video of my favorite Small World ride please. I like It's a Small World because it is my non-stop attraction at Disneyland.

I went on this when I was like 8 and it’s fun and terrifying
I was there today and I went on that ride the only person I could hear screaming was myself
I'm going to Disneyland in March and I'm VERY indecisive about this ride. Me and my friend are going for our birthdays, and we were wondering if it's a must do? I'm afraid of drops and heights, and so is my friend, but if it's a must do, we'll do it. What do you guys in the comments think?

i rode this ride recently, and i have to say it’s a must do. it’s not the same feeling as a big drop on a rollercoaster, it’s a bit different, but it’s so much fun. if you guys are already fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy, this is a DEFINITE must do because the waiting line in itself is so cool to be in. highly recommend!

This ride looks very fun (I’ve never been, I go to WDW and so have the original TOT which is much more complex), but I do feel like it lost a lot of the story potential from TOT :/ it feels like we’re just going on a joy ride in an elevator with no REAL storyline attached… the theming is good nonetheless. I can tell they worked hard on it
it's exactly why the Tower of Terror will always be better overall than Mission Breakout
Also sux that this is the only time they have different drop profiles when they could've done that with Tower of Terror

They manage to update their Tower to have their own different drop profiles with new effects, that could've been done with the California tower too
And the Avengers Campus can live without Mission Breakout, more so when its story doesn't really mix with what the lore behind the Avengers Campus in DCA.
I get what you're saying, I felt the same way until I rode the ride for the first time last year. The preshow really helps set things up.

Well, it’s AMAZING 10/10 for sure! The drops and the music are definitely the best part. The theming is amazing as well. You never get tired of going on the ride

i think i was like 9 when i rode this, and i was crying during the preshow bcuz i was so scared. needless to say, the floating out of my seat during the drops did not help. i sobbed the whole time and im still too scared to ride again. i think i do wanna try tot in hollywood studios tho because it looks way better than dca's did, even if im not a huge fan of the drops

In my opinion guardians is more fun and thrilling the tot, however tot had a way better theme and ambience to the ride, mission breakout would be so much better if only it didnt have to replace and live up to its predecessor.
Great theming but the ride kinda sucked as far as engagement goes. You barely get to see anything since the ride goes up and down so quickly without giving time to really absorb the scenes.

I love Joe Rohde but I still cant get over how this looks very much like a hollywood hotel still. The Art Deco-hacienda exterior is very obvious It also kinda messes with the entire Hollywood area with Sunset Boulevard being meaningless now and losing the trolly stop they really need to spruce the hollywood area up now. It needs an E ticket
it’s just not the same. the tower of terror actually scared me a bit, which made it all the more exciting to ride. i love drop rides and guardians is still fun. it’s just a shame that disney seems to be only for the cash grabbing between the pixar pier retheme and all of this marvel hype. the chew chew train at bugs land was one of walt disney’s favorite rides and they just got rid of it for more money :(

Paris proved that when its Tower of Terror (the same design as the California tower) got its own update and also got randomized drops.
They didn't have to replace the Tower of Terror at all.
@@kendrick5501 nope it’s not the drops, the 5th dimension scene makes ToT what it is. Tokyo gets a pass because it’s the ring otherwise is overwhelmingly amazing. But without the 5th dimension scene the ride isn’t nearly as good. And when you add in the lack of randomized drops ands and having to walk through a hallway to get to your elevator after you’ve gone through elevator doors it’s just not as good. Mission breakout does so much more with that ride system.

I miss Tower of Terror. I hate when Disney decides to re-theme an already amazing attraction. Guardians of the Galaxy should've had its own attraction much like the one they did in Florida. It's better to be creative and come up with other ideas that could help the park.
