Another thing I want to mention is the effects of Capsacin on Ulcers... A lot of people I know are shocked I eat Scorpion and Ghost daily when I have Esophogal Ulcers. The truth is, since I've upped my Capsacin intake I barely notice I have Ulcers. I first got into hot peppers when I read how in India they use Chili Peppers to cure Ulcers in the digestive tract. I actually started to notice what triggers acid reflux in hot sauce is the high levels of Vinegar, not the peppers. The hotter the sauce I got (thanks to pepper heads encouraging me to ditch the Vinegar soups) the more my Ulcers healed. Thank god for hot peppers, love your videos man, keep it up!
I'm really glad that I knew about firehose before the first time I experienced it, because I would've been very worried. Keep up the good work spreading the knowledge. It was also the first time I had experienced cramps. Dave's Hot Chicken in Colorado Springs, reaper level. Good times.
I think the German translation.... For firehose is.... Lay'-der-hoze-in' but, don't necessarily quote me on that... 🙂 you know how we are.... We loved to inform people as best we can.... Ha ha ha you definitely made me think about how capsaicin could get into other functions of the body.... And giving us your real life affirmation of these things to know... I was very glad to hear you give some suggestion on how much capsaicin or peppers, you might have to consume to experience, one of these effects. there was a time, that I was taking quite a bit of garlic in capsule form and fresh when applied to certain foods. It had to do with trying to improve blood sugar control. But there was a side effect and that was body odor having the aroma of garlic. Again, very informative for those who are seeking information and are listening carefully. It is here, if you listen.
German speaker here. "Lay-der-hoze-in" would be a Lederhose, that's not a firehose.
I ordered a box of beautiful peppers from Abercrombie recently. I was enjoying a variety of heat levels and flavors. The next morning I had fire hose. I figured it was either that or just being dehydrated but what a coincidence that you just made this video that confirmed it. Thanks for that information sir! One thing I might have missed that you might have covered as a side affect. I have facial hair and I have gotten oils from peppers on my mustache. If you kiss your significant other at some point after eating peppers, it can transfer some oils/heat to their lips. My wife doesn't do heat and was furious with me for hours as her mouth was on fire. 😂😂
Now you say it... I accidentally got hit with a whole big can of bear spray. Accidentally kicked it into my couch, I went off right in my eyes, got my wife, my son, and our poor cat too. Yupp. I remember for a couple days it hurt to go to the bathroom either way. That was one of the worst things I've ever experienced.
Capsaicin coming out of the pores is a good one. I'm a market gardener and chilli grower, and at this time of year I'm eating A LOT of chillies to up my tolerance so that processing large amounts of superhots in another month or so is a less painful undertaking. I'll generally eat a couple of fresh pods after every meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and I'll sweat capsaicin afterwards. I was working in heavy rain the other morning and sweating under my oilskins and cap. I got a trickle of sweat in my eye and it was genuinely like I'd been pepper sprayed. Grim.
I think my most memorable, of all the memorable moments, was after participating in a hot wing competition at a chilli festival maybe nine years ago, with wings coated in limited edition sauce made from reapers, moruga scorpions and Trinidad 7-Pots. Sadly didn't win, but I finished all the wings. Stayed at my sister's house that night and around 2 in the morning, I recreated the napalm scene from Apocalypse Now in her guest bathroom. I've had firehole and firehose many times, but this felt more extra than usual.
Great topics lately Johnny. Everyone asks if my bottom burns, and of course it does, but the things like"firehose" aren't the ones I mention, just because of the reason you mention; they would say,"oh, you have an STD. Anyway, thanks for bringing these things into the light.
I recently experienced the firehose for the first time lol. I'd eaten 2x x2 korean fire noodles- weak sauce compared to the crazy stuff a lot of people do, but I knew right away that is what caused it.
Lol! Yeah, I've felt that pain before! It's not that bad! It only burns when I pee! I'm fine! You know, just drink water, you're fine! It felt like a UTI, and it sucks! Nonetheless! Always coat your stomach! CTH4LIFE! And prepare for the ride!
The good news is that much of the side effects of capsacin are signs that it's working. Capsicum fruits synthesize capsaicin from vanillylamine. Vanillin levels are higher in peppers with high levels of Capsacin in order to facilitate the production of Capsacin and Vanillin is a fantastic Laxative. Laxative effect in general helps the health of the Colon massively. Studies have shown that vanillin has antitumor potential due to its multiple functions. It has been reported to exert anticancer effects by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in colon cancer. So eat those peppers, enjoy the process and stay healthy y'all!
I think the empty stomach thing is a big factor. I always try to see Capsacin as a way to make fiber tastier. Fiber is so important when you're eating laxative foods. You don't want liquid coming out, hahaha. Like a pepper head mentor of mine once told me "You want hot stones, not lava coming out the next morning" The hot stones don't hurt as much, way less burning linger hahahha.
Hot tears: this spring I bought a box of pods from Linda's Fiery Treats, and it spent 5 days getting to me because of a weekend and US mail being slow, so I new I had to go hard in order to eat them before they went bad. I normally share all of my hot stuff with my dad, but he was on a cruise at the time for the next 5 days, so I had to eat more than I normally would (not complaining in the slightest) Anyhow, I saved a handful that I new my dad would want to try for when he got back, and in that session we split half a dozen of the very hottest pods that were in there, and the one that got me was a reaper-scorpion long cross that was delicious, but also the hottest pepper I had eaten so far. It attacked my throat and instantly made my eyes water, and the instant they did I felt the burn start and immediately knew what was happening. I blotted it with a tissue and, I kid you not, they were yellow from the concentration of capsaicin in them. I had some mild cramps that day, too, and firehose constantly for that entire preceding week.
Before the first time it ever happened to me, I used to often acknowledge how fortunate it was that capsaicin DIDN'T affect the "hose". So confident was I in this "fact" that when that first time finally DID happen, it took me COMPLETELY by surprise! I'm just happy it's not quite as bad as ring sting can be. Granted, the hottest I've gone is the Reaper, so maybe hotter peppers bring it into more close alignment with the back exit. If so, OUCH?! 😂
First firehose moment was a year ago after a Paqui One Chip. It wasn't severe, but I was surprised, like "what?? NO WAY!". Since then I've come to a point of getting concerned I'm not keeping my tollerance up enough if I don't have it happen. Only had hot tears 3 or 4 times... when the Death Nuts made my tears run, and during my KQ2 aftermath were the most noticeable.
I have recently had issues with what I thought was due to my prostate. After some weeks trying different remedies, I researched capsaicin and it's effect on the prostate. It turns out it attacks any cancer cells in the prostate, the study stated it shrinks it as well. So, I dropped all my supplements and started eating at least one pepper a day, and it's had positive effects on my "peeing". No firehose yet.
I didn’t even know the burning sensation when peeing was possible. So I ate a bunch of ghost peppers and ended up going to the doc because I thought I had an std.
If its a body part it has burned from capsaicin. My last capsaicin cramps were worse than the two stomach operations i had and the last operation opened me from just below center of ribs to pubic area. They took everything out and opened up multiple things plus peeled off a weird glue my body wrapped everything in. Strangely the glue kept my appendix from bursting. All that had nothing on the cap cramps i recieved from eating a few ghost peppers after not eating since the morning before😂. Lessons were learned that night and the next morning in the bathroom. Pepperology should be a requirement in high-school
I kind of like the firehose situation. It doesn’t really hurt. It feels kind of nice. Another one that’s related is spicy sweat. Which is awful cause then it gets in your eyes.
Hot tears I got from multiple habaneros and I was like what the hell I washed the crap out of my hands and it got under my contact the next day putting them back in it still burned.
With me working with, and sampling all these 10 million and 13 million tincture mixtures ive had fire hose a few times. The first time it happened, it lasted a few days. I just happened to have a scheduled doctor's appointment during that time. I asked the doctor and it was like he was stumped. I dont think he had ever heard of it before. 🤣
In England a no 2 the day after, estecially from a hot brutish curry, can can be known as the Blood orange affect. 😮. I'll leave the rest to your imagination.
Johnny I'm like you I eat peppers everyday and yes fire hose and fire hole and cap cramps are real brother I know its a just about every day thing for me but I eat a lot of fresh super hots everyday cramps not so much fire hose and fire hole yea the first time I had fire hose I was 7 and had ate a lot of peppers with my pea's and that night wow it was bad lol well love you all and have a blessed day

One thing I've noticed after consuming around 5 scotch bonnets, the next days my hands will suddenly go hot, like they are heating up in an oven. Not a burning sensation on the skin, but like deep inside my hands they are heating up. Obviously hands are all properly washed, and only happens when I consume a decent amount of scotch bonnets
Capsaicin will absorb through your skin, which I found out first hand one time after cutting up a bunch of bonnets for salsa. Gotta wear gloves when cutting hot peppers.
I grow some hot peppers at home and when I have visitors I offer them to try some with me but they all have the excuse of having stomach problems. Why do everyone who comes to visit me have a bad stomach? Lol
Never had the fire hose but when I brought the one chip into work we broke it up for each of us, and one guy had fire hose he said the next day, I had cramps and gut pains
I ate 3 reapers and went to sleep woke up next day and it hurt to pee I thought I got something from a women so I got checked and it was just the peppers I was very relieved lmao
This wouldn’t necessarily count as cap cramps, but I get more of a nauseous wave, my mouth will water so much that I’ll feel like puking everywhere, it’ll last about 5 minutes then it goes away and I’ll feel fine.. a bit strange
Johnny ive been eating hot things for a longgggg time i never knew fire hose there was a few occasions were i thought i had a UTI but it only last for like 1 day my mind is BLOWN!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯

I've had fire tears, and capsaicin seeping out in sweat. Touching sensitive areas like inside of your noise, and other areas. Rubbed my eyes in the middle of the night after cutting up peppers hours before and after washing hands a hundred times.
Gotta wear disposable gloves. I usually just wear one on my holding hand unless really hot peppers. Those are twice glove jobs. I’ve had Reapers come through gloves after 20 minutes cutting.
I've had it. imo it isn't one of the worse side effects of eating too much capsaicin but it doesn't feel great. I've eaten so many carolina reapers at one time that it got into my sweat and gave me burning rashes in several places. That was worse. Nothing hurts worse than the chili cramps though
Ive been meaning to ask, do you know how to prevent/stop spicy hiccups? Even when things aren't that spicy to me and i can barely even feel the capsaicin, I still get crazy hiccups most of the time when eating spicy things. Especially when it is the first spicy thing I consume of day/session. Does it have something to do with prep, does it subside as tolerance grows, or am i just stuck with it?
Don't let it bother you. Some of the fiercest competitors I've faced got hiccups. Not a sign of weakness. I don't of anyone who had them and somehow eliminated them with a higher tolerance. I think that's just one of the ways your body deals with capsaicin. When it really hot I change colors. And when I've really over done it, I dream in color. I never lost any of my "tells" as my tolerance grew. They're still there. I got them once. I was glorious. I wish I got them all the time. I'm jealous. So, don't let it bother you.
@@ChaseTheHeat thanks a lot johnny! This is super helpful! I'll just take em as they come! Maybe even embrace them haha. I appreciate your time, the feedback, and the encouragement!
Okay, now I'm wondering if you gonna get fire hose and you give your spouse. The number 3, will she get fire Lily?. I have you, johnny ever experienced a flaming number three l o l
I ate some reaper wings. Later, I passed gas and thought I lit my couch on fire.
