      Hey, how you did? I tried to propagate my snake plant the same way in water. I can see one of the cutting has started showing root, and other cuttings are rotten. Even if I used the same method at the same time and kept in same place. I didn’t get it why my other cuttings got rotten. Can you please help? Thanks!

      After cutting let the leaf callous for at least 24 hours then put it in water

      ​@@novee2961 hi I live in the UK, I water mine once a month, it's still in the original 4 inch pot and is about a 14 inches tall, water is room temp tap water 150ml, it's 3 years old.

    I did this with a few leaves from my mom’s snake plant and it worked! It’s been potted for about 2 months now and little baby snake just popped through the soil today 🥰

      You don’t need to cut a v shape, if anything it can risk infection more

    I have to admit watching your videos got me off my backside and I transplanted one plant trimmed and watered all the others. Now I don’t feel guilty and they are grateful for the pampering! Your videos truly inspire me to try new plants (next on my list pineapple and a lemon tree 😀)

    This is called ‘Fragging’ and this is used for coral to regrow, never knew the same could happen with a plant!

    Propagation is trial and error so please don't feel discouraged if the first few leaves do not start rooting

      ​@@MaryGrace62 you can keep cutting it down. I.e. a bottom part, a middle part and top part. Or several middle parts. But Remember which side is down to put on water, the V helps remember this.

      @@onlytruth247 you could use a grow light for its light source. They say there low light plants but they really thrive in medium to high light. They are very hardy. I researched a lot before I got my baby snake plant a few months ago. I hope mine has a very long life.

    Propagating a variegated leaf will revert back to the green version.
    Yes the water propagation method really does work, I have a few which live in water 24/7 365

    The correct way to propagate this plant is by separating a smaller plant from the original and repotting it. It does not grow the same with a cutting.

      If you don’t have a plant to separate it from then you can start your own this way from a piece broken off another one.

    My leaves start getting transparent at the bottom. I guess this method works not for all types of snake plants. Should I just leave it on a surface to let it dry for a couple days and then just plant it in a pot?

    That’s how I started mine from a broken piece I found in the floor at Costco. I asked the manager if I could have it and he said yes. That was 1.5 years ago. After a month in water I planted the stalk with the roots. I’ve got multiple shoots coming up now.

    It definitely takes at least 6 weeks. Better to put it in soil and forget about it.

      Yeah, I was thinking this too. Have les of a chance of the bottom molding in the glass of water if you don’t change it out often. Plus roots like darkness. Just don’t over-saturate the soil!
