It’s not just GPSR it’s been happening for years. I started one of the longest posts on the eBay community about UK sellers not selling to us in NI because of postage costs. Not Royal Mail but other couriers. I have won auctions and sellers have refused to complete the sale when they find out I’m in Northern Ireland. its worth checking HMRC website and youtube channel for infos. Happy to just sell to buyers in the UK and outside EU. There still online taxes elsewhere tho namely the US and Australia. its media items mostly CDs I post overseas.
Yes but it shows how stpid these rules are it just means northern Ireland will have a country of private sellers and no business sellers to survive and supply
And we now see the real reason why ebay have recently announced changes to the Private/Business seller rules, fees and the policing of those differences
You’re having a geg. Alliance sleep walked us into this. Most of us would happily sacrifice selling to the EU if we could maintain our sales to the mainland. This whole thing is on Alliance, they held the power when it counted and they chose this.
I have been trying to make sense of this to help my mum, as her business is online. She sells antique textiles. Does this mean she has to stop selling to the EU and NI? But she can still sell to the mainland and outside of Europe, from Northern Ireland?

It won't solve it because Ireland will also be included in this, British suppliers wont supply to Ireland so you can't buy cheap from Britain even if in a utd Ireland. Not enough people in Ireland to subsidise this, economies of scale compared to population in Britain of 60 million. Europe is not compatible with Ireland regarding car parts etc as they drive on other side of road etc etc.

Sadly this won't change and it's not ebays fault. You need to target the blame where it belongs and that is the EU. It's yet more protectionism aimed at preventing UK sellers accessing the EU markets, plain and simple. And the way it hits NI is purely down to the EU refusing to put the trade border where it proper;y belongs instead of down the Irish Sea.
I don’t think that’s the case at all because it’s not going to affect the big brands or brands that manufacture themself. @@retrosheller9214 I agree it is also to prevent the unsafe, fake and junk items that come from (Let's just say it) China. However, whilst the big multinational brands will not be affected, small sellers of these brands will as although the information is available it is still an onerous task to add all of the required data to each ebay listing. An emerging UK manufacturer is not able to afford an EU representative even if they have all the required documentation. Myself I manufacture a very useful tool for quite a niche market.
