So many kids these days are obsessed with a DJ being able to seamlessly transition every mix. At 46 years old, I've been into House since '89 and the best DJ was the one with the best tunes. Think of it as an hour and half of uplifting soul food......not a robotic lesson in hammy effects and sync buttons..Move D is an inspiration and his vinyl choices ROCK.
whilst agree with you that there is an obsession with technique and it should be about the music, there's a point where bad mixing can be detrimental to the vibe. if you're in a party and a lovely piece of music is being battered by pots and pans mixing, it's better for the DJ to not bother trying to mix and just drop the track, no?
yeah, if the 'dj' can't actually mix then it would sound terrible. My comment relates to this specific video...Move D mixes loads of different styles and tempos and as vinyl is alive and the turntables and pressings drift - it's an art. Never gonna be perfect as we're all human.
KeepTheOldskoolFireBurning.Exactly mate..track choice is what a proper Dj is judged by..his mixing is fine too considering the different drum beats he's blending together..ain't exactly clanging it is he!!
It could be much improved from what was displayed in this presentation... perhaps spending more time getting to know the unique characteristics of the tunes he's presenting not just 'lining up good tunes'...no excuses can be accepted if we are to consider an individual a 'professional' they need to master ALL the disciplines of the craft or be demoted to 'enthusiast' level
Shows how stressful djing used to be. Anyone can have a moment and ‘lose it’ in a mix - confusing which track is forward, back, fast or slow on the beat. This is infinitely more difficult that using modern equipment. Love to hear the art being used live. Major respect
Excellent I love this so much... I like hearing a dj push the vinyl forward with his finger because the beat is going off a bit... It just shows you it's real.. No sync. No laptops.. Just move d and some vinyl is all I need. And his track selection is sometimes so emotional and it gives you that feeling of joy & happiness inside... Thank you move d.
Move D is a force of nature behind the decks, known for his impeccable track selection and deep knowledge of house and disco. He channels unparalleled levels of exuberance into his sets that makes each one a joy, with selections artfully curated from his record bag that is packed with personality. He’s also a prolific producer. His debut 1995 album ‘Kunststoff’ holds up as a seminal classic, exploring sounds spanning emotional ambient to off-kilter house, and he's kept the quality high with the many releases that have followed in the past two decades, including a number of collaborative projects with the likes of Juju & Jordash, Jus-Ed, Thomas Meinecke and Jonah Sharp. And as Sib Mackern mentions in the comments... his 24 albums with Pete Namlook!
stumbled across this mix a year later. very fun set indeed, yes first track transitions are odd but it really picks up! gonna have to find more live sets from MOVE D
Best tunes. If you like this genres, Move D punch your heart with that vinyls. The escense of dance music is the power of translate the sad/happy/darkness and hope feeling to the people, and make them dance obviously.
Guys, Move D is high as fuck on every single gig, and that's why: - He always miss those freakin transitions - He always smashes the place with his very own vibes!
Second track anybody?! Big up Move D everytime. I will hear no disrespect thrown at this guy. youd understand if you had seen him rock the party on as many occasions as I have

#6 17:00 min: To The Disco '77 by Move D... Dope he's mixing his own stuff in there.. sounds amazing. This guy is refreshing to listen to. Thx for the great set :))
Always makes me laugh when absolute beginners have the nerve to slam pioneers within the music industry, especially when they are mixing on old vinyl the BPM of which is not always 100% and the people complaining probably have not even finished playing their first digital record on a controller, using smart sync! It is literally like me jumping in the air and calling Neil Armstrong a shit astronaut!!! Please some respect for this man who has been a master of his genre for some time!!!
RESPECT! to any djs that know how to mix with strictly vinyl records (without using serato). Unlike most of the digital dj equipment avail these days, there are no sync buttons on vinyl and no time meter. I have been djing for over 10+ years both vinyl and cdjs, and to this day i would not say i have perfected vinyl mixing, a dj ear would prob pick up the fine adjustments in a mix what the average listener could not. These new age hand heart, pre recorded, sync button mashing djs will never understand the struggle and frustration it takes to learn vinyl.
technology is great ,and helps our lives everyday , however some things just cant be enhanced by it , dj ing is one of those things , move d understands this.
Mixmag... this is not a criticism but if you mention Move d's collabs in the description, how can you not make any mention of his 24 albums with Pete Namlook???

All the people, who have no idea who Move D is and what he is about, lecturing others on mixing... Classic case of those who can't do teach, eh?
Christ Move D must be sweating over the comments critiquing his mixing 🙄
