The Lab Los Angeles is Mixmag and Smirnoff Sound Collective's weekly post-work unwind where we stream only the finest American and international DJs, live and direct from our Downtown LA office. Purple Disco Machine joined us this week in The Lab LA.
Since founding the Purple Disco Machine project in 2009, German native and 'Deep Funk' innovator Tino has become a highly coveted name in the dance music realm. He's become a resident name at the famed Glitterbox party series in Ibiza and most recently, premiered the official video for his Kittball collaboration 'Walls' with Mixmag.
Working with the likes of Faithless, Duke Dumont, Annabel Englund, Aeroplane and many more, he's also well on his way to creating what is set to be his debut album, slated for an early 2017 release.

Still listening in 2023. That transition from Bus Stop into Finder (Hope) 17:50 - 18:50 lives rent free in my mind to this day. This has to be one of my favorite sets of PDM ever.

One of the best sets i've ever heard. Perfect music selection, perfect timing. As a producer he is great but also as a DJ. This is a masterclass about how to be a great DJ. Pure class, pure skill, pure music taste!

That track coming in at around 11:00 straight reminds me of my first "party". House music got me into every type of dance music I like today, and I still love house 17 years later.

as a younger cat whos been DJing for a bit mostly EDM and such but it is hard to deny the funk and groove of Purple Disco Machine and definitely has talent at the decks and deserves to be recognized =D

EDM will never pass and I love EDM and it will live on forever alongside Disco, hell EDM was more or less an evolution of Disco with themes and inspiration taken from every style of music ever created including Classical Baroque and other older forms of music.
Holy fuck. This is best live set Mixmag has ever put up. So many moments in this that make me wish producers ad DJs played mostly good music and not shit. Finder and Bad Decisions are both excellent choices to get a dance floor hyped in my perfect utopia.

I kid you not....this "mix" of music was spinning DAILY in Chi-town by the original HOT MIX 5 back in the 80's ....anyone from Chicago could attest to this....Mickey "Mixin" Oliver, Scott "Smokin" Silz, Ken Jamin' Jason, Farley "Funkin" Keith and Ralphie Rosario.....I know PDM is from Berlin. But, he would even know about these cats....and don't forget about the late Frankie Knuckes the Godfather of House often spun by PDM....Still good stuff PDM! thumbs up!
