I think it goes in the Gosforth Park's favour that Britannia Hotels has only comparatively recently taken it over. Give it a few more years of neglect and decay and it'll match the rest of their portfolio.b
During the 70's and 80's bands who played in Newcastle invariably stayed at the Gosforth Park Hotel, AC/DC always did up to 82, it's always been considered a really good hotel due to the facilities it has
My dad had a gym membership here back in the 90s and me and brother used to go swimming, play squash etc. It was a swallow hotel then. Doesn't look like it's changed much since then though.
In the late 70's some of the girls from my school used to go to the Saddle Bar. One of them actually married a goalie whom she met there. He used to pick her up after school now and again!
I worked in it as a receptionist in the 80s (lots of radio and tv celebrities as well as bands) and for long while it was a privately owned hotel that had a very prestigious reputation, Kevin Keegan had a suite that he was in long term when he was Manager of Newcastle United football team.
I stay in a vast number of hotels and I would NEVER EVER put a suitcase on the desk! Do you think the desk is going to be cleaned after you? If there is no stand, put the suitcase on the floor.
Evenin strange youtuber 😊 that room looks really nice wow a brilliant clean kettle!! love the floor in in the bathroom well worth the cash till the next one 😊
I usually stay in the Hampton By HIlton if I'm in Newcastle (usually getting there by train). Very handy as it's just across the road the station. Very nice place and I know when I went a few months ago they were charging £75 pound a night during the week (not sure of the weekend rate as only stayed in the week). I have also done the Royal Station Hotel in the past which is a nice old building.

Yes I believe it was the Swallow hotel prior to the Marriott
The pub over the road is really good. The falcons Nest it's called I often go there for food
It’s terrible actually.

Sure it won't be long before they bring it down to the usual Britannia standard.
Well 5 years or so they've owned it and it's still going strong...
They seem to be getting better if anything
Very nice hotel ...............great review

Agreed. A bit loutish. I wonder if Mr. Wiganer uses his own dining table to dump filthy old cases onto ?
I did all of my MOT training at Gosforth when I used to fix cars. Just returned from Newcastle today funnily enough after visiting The Hoppings Fair.
Most of Gosforth was rebuilt in the 60s and 70s and the archetecture usually screams it.
Great video! Hotel on the outside looks old and dated, but inside looks nice and clean with good facilities!
Very nice reception
For a second there I thought it said worst hotel in china 😂😂😂 great video ❤
Thanks! 😃
Just to say I stayed they over night and it was very nice in 2017
I think this is a beautiful hotel. I would definitely stay here.
that hotel still has so many marriott features and decor bits left in it if you know what to look for
Another cracking review 👌
You can do a lot worse than Britannia these days.
You'll have to try The Adelphi in Liverpool
I've been already check out my vlog
Hi, thought for a Britania hotel was very good, very clean just a shame about the food. Good value for the price. Thanks
Yeah they're not all bad
Back in the day this hotel was the place to be ....any famous people performing in Newcastle would always stay here
Yep there's lots of history here

I like the hamptons too but they're usually double the price of these budget hotels
That’s impressive
Has your mates given up Hotel Huter and Adams rotten rooms.
Not sure pal
No illegal immigrants. !! That's a change for this hotel. It must to far from Dover 😂
Why are you always so keen to see a bag stand? We always just put our bags on the floor
I'm only ever at hotels for 1 night so I practically live out of my bag
@@wanderingwiganer So do we, that's why we just leave it on the floor
