    May I add the following advice. I did this on a basement wall. It wasn’t easy because the wall wasn’t perfectly flat. What I ended up doing as it became apparent was I zinged off the tongue. This way the laminate was free to move in and out. This may be unnecessary for you but for me it was the solve. Start with at the top. Mark your studs on the ceiling also.

      Because youre gluing and nailing everything. Normally you'd have to drive the short sides together after clicking the long side. No need for that in this application, so the short sides will just lay nicely on top of each other.

    I use Free Pallets

    • @harpthehero
      @harpthehero 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Free pallets look great if you have the time and resources. My late father and I built a beautiful wall with reclaimed wood from pallets, but these are two entirely different processes.
      Free pallets:
      Find quality free pallets, travel to retrieve free pallets, get permission to take said free pallets, and load heavy pallets into your truck or trailer if you have one (if not rent or borrow an appropriate vehicle or trailer to haul free pallets), drive back home and unload the pallets (return rented or borrowed vehicle if necessary and go back home), separate all boards from the 2x4s using a pry bar or sawzall (some are easier than others), dispose of or store scrap wood (there will be alot!), once you have all your wood you can then begin sanding each and every piece and sorting by height and width, then you could stain each piece if you'd like, then you can actually paint your area with a black base/primer to hide gaps once boards are installed, mark studs, and begin attaching your boards!!!
      Versus:
      Drive to Home Depot, pick out the material you like and drive back home, acclimate, and get started.

    Isn't it funny how, just a few years ago, designers and common folk condemned that "ugly paneling" from the 1960's as "soooooo dated"? Now, the same people run basically the same thing horizontally on a wall and talk about how beautiful it is.

      @@marshalllakeshaott4573 Funny, isn't it? I'm perfectly okay with panelled walls no matter what direction the panelling goes. When I was a kid, we had a basement with panelled walls. I also lived in a mobile home and had no problem with it. I think so much depends on what you get used to and tired of. A lot of times, too, we like what we see in other people's homes and think it would be nice in our homes - only to find out that what we liked for an hour somewhere is not what we would like for five years somewhere else. Also, some houses are like people. They can wear something really well and make it look cool while others just can't pull it off for a variety of reasons. Interesting how the mind works.
