She actually wrote this while she was filming the movie, Steel Magnolias. Another fantastic movie if you haven't seen it. She really held her own with all those Oscar winning costars. You should check it out!

In an interview, Dolly said she fashioned herself after the local 'lady of the evening' that lived in her town when she was a kid. Love this song.

They made fun of Dolly too and she laughed about it. She always wore blonde wigs and laughed about that too because she said she wasn’t blonde. Now 77 years old she doesn’t travel as much because her husband has Alzheimers disease. She was married at age 23 and married all of these years. She is loved by the USA like Elvis. True Americana.

Don’t know how many times I watched Steel Magnolia’s. I cried every time. This song is 100% inspired by that movie. Dolly and all in that cast amazing actors. This song is so beautiful 🤩.

I'm an athiest, and I LOVE that song. Hearing her really open up. Even in her older years, she seems to hit the belts easier. It's crazy how good she is.

She was always over the top in hair and style just like Elvis. She went from the coat of many colors to total bling and she stood out, looks and talent.

So glad you really listen to the songs & stop the music when you want to talk. Dolly wrote a song called "Bargain Store" that was banned by some country radio stations because she talks about some of her body parts. It's a cool song but is sad. Yes it was a #1 hit. Same thing happened to Loretta Lynn. Country radio ban 14 songs of hers. The most for any artist. The top 5 greatest women in country music that broke the door down for other female artist.
    1 Kitty Wells
    2 Patsy Cline
    3 Loretta Lynn
    4 Dolly Parton
    5 Tammy Wynette

Dolly puts her heart on display in her songs. One of my most favorite Dolly songs for both the song and the vocals she displays is the song Hello God, she wrote after 9-11. It is well worth watching her perform with the choir at the Dove awards.

Just so you know what a phenomenal woman this is, more than a legendary country music artist, Dolly Parton is a champion of Women and a genuine humanitarian at heart. For decades she quietly promotes and funds literacy in this country by sending all babies born books from her Imagination Library until they reach school age in multiple states, she donated ALL profits of Whitney’s cover of “I will always love you” to impoverished black communities for feeding hungry kids, investing in education and work training, and she even funds a Bald Eagle Sanctuary!!! She really should be sainted… 💪♥️🥰

You keep talking about the beautiful Angelic Voice of Dolly Parton, the heart warming stories of Dolly and all of that. Welcome to the Real World. Welcome to the Eorld. Now you are saying about how much that you would love for her songs to be a little longer, well so would I. Once again Amigo there is a song that I wish you would play for me, your viewers abd also for yourself. The name of the song is called, "Me and Little Andy". Please listen to the song, her voice, her words and tell me what you think. Please. And even if you want your beautiful wife to listen to it her actions will be her words. Thank you my friend. God bless you two. Goodnight. Adios.

All of her wigs have names & they're custom made. Like Elvis, she's a giver. As of 2012 she had written more than 3,000 songs and sold more than 100 million records, making her one of the best-selling female artists of all time. She's in the Country Music Hall of Fame & the National Academy of Popular Music/Songwriters Hall of Fame, awarded the Living Legend Medal by the U.S. Library of Congress, the National Medal of Arts, Kennedy Center Honors, Grammy Hall of Fame & so many more.

I agree with you I'm a dolly fan and an Elvis fan and yes they're both class acts that never go anywhere where they don't look their best, even in everyday life.
Both these artists have been tremendously shortchanged underestimated and over judged...😊❤

I've loved her voice and music for 50 years. My mum took me to see her in concert in 2011 and she was absolutely fantastic. Her personality is so infectious. She's 78 years old now and still amazing. I love the one bad thing you have to say about her - I think most of us feel the same way.

I was born in 1964 that puts me at 60 years old today. But Dolly was my childhood crush my hero my muse. My brother had Farrah Fawcett posters on the wall I had a Dolly Parton poster on the wall. Everybody thought I liked her because of her boobs but it wasn’t that was because she was dirt poor and we grew up poor too but not dirt poor. She was an inspiration to me for many many years. I regret not buying all of her albums since my adulthood but I do keep on top of her career. When I first saw bodyguard and Whitney Houston sang I will always love you I turned to my wife and said that is Dolly Parton song. My wife never knew that it was originally Dolly Parton song.

Like many girls and women of the time, Dolly was reduced to her looks for so long. I confess that, as a kid, I did the same. I didn't know we should be seen as more than that or maybe I didn't understand that looks didn't define the person. The way I was raised, I was very close-minded. Then I grew up and went out into the world. I discovered a whole new way of thinking and learned more about people that I had previously derided for their looks or other ridiculous reasons. Dolly is now one of my favorite humans. I thought I was a Christian when I was looking down on her. She was and is the embodiment of what Christ taught us to be. I truly admire her.

Dolly Parton had said " So do you like my hair? Well ladies I can shpw you how it's done, as a matter of fact I have three just like this back stage and ten other different styles. 'Cause girls you know sometimes you need to change things up. See all you men looking at my personality or tatas as husband would say!😊 !!! Everything else is real at least that's what I've trained my plastic surgeon to say " 😂😂😂 I LMAO when I heard her say that. My dad had that same look on his face first time he saw her,my Mom told him to wipe off the drool from his chin and pick his jaw off of the floor, last time he ever did that 🙄 😳 😂😂😂😂😂😂

My 3 year old nephew loved Dolly & loved to watch her TV show. If he misbehaved, his parents would punish him by not allowing him to watch the show or listen to his Dolly CD. That rarely happened because he loved her so much.

Here is a few of the movies she was in .... first one 9 to 5 (where she learned every single line and found out that while making the movie, they don't go from the beginning to the end, like a book ... they can alter between middle, beginning, end or whatever order is deemed to work), but then she did Best Little Beepbeep House in Texas with Bert Reynolds, then there is Rhinestone Cowboy with Sylvester Stallone, then Straight Talk, then my favorite STEEL MAGNOLIAS with a host of Oscar winning actresses, and so many more. However, having said that, she made a deal with Netflix to do two of her life stories ... Coat of Many Colors (where you will see how she reacts to 'her' baby's death), and of course the Christmas one Circle of Love. Oh, you're going down a beautiful catalogue. Don't forget Backwoods Barbie (as it's all about her life too).

I thought it was funny that you mentioned Elvis. Colonel Parker did contact Dolly to get her song I Will Always Love You, so that Elvis could record it. But Dolly is a smart business woman and declined because she knew that anytime Elvis recorded a song, he'd get ALL the royalties from it and Dolly knew that it was a special song and that she wasn't going to just give it away. She's told that story many times. After the phone call, Dolly said she cried and thought, did I do this right? Of course she did. Now when Whitney sang it in Bodyguard, she made Dolly a very rich woman. She mentioned something that when she recorded it, Dolly made good money in the bank, on that song, but when Whitney sang it, Dolly was able to buy the bank, lol. Just a tidbit of info.

She comes from the same place, and the same era of music, especially country music. it was all about the sparkle, and part of the reason that she has over accentuated certain attributes... it's for the attention grab. She's almost tacky... but not quite. She has actually joked about being a tacky thing... but no...
