Great job kids..nothing that brings a couple together like the joys of cooking together and savoring the spoils of your work..looks great...will pasta word
I would rather use the pasta roller and spaghetti attachment. It takes a shorter time to process. It looks like the extruder attachment is taking so much time.
Bobby Flay taught me that if you salt you water enough while boiling pasta, you don't need any oil. The oil prevents the sauce from sticking to your noodles. Just thought I would pass on. Thank you both for teaching me how to make fresh pasta. Looks so good! Yummy!
james stephenson I didn’t know that either. I knew using pasta water to reconstitute left over speg or Alfredo when reheating made it creamy. Thanks for sharing.
I like the copper over the blue. It looks finished and professional. I personally have the 6qt bowl lift pro in Empire Red and I love it. I prefer bowl lift over tilt head but have been thinking of getting me a mini tilt head for smaller batches.
Jan Alxander...yes, "excited" is the word...all the time I was writing my comment I couldn''t find the right word...you did....excited, that's what they were!!!!!
Oooh the finished product looked delicious! Now I know what's for supper! Rick, I love the color of your mixer! If I ever get one it will be the same color as yours!
I've the pasta extruder like you have. I also have the set with the roller and cutters and the KitchenAid drying rack. I came across the capellini & lasegnette cutters on sale at KitchenAid and ordered them too. I've not used the extruder yet. I'm wondering if there's a dough consistency between the rollers and the extruder? For the rollers the dough needs to be smoother and spring back when you lightly poke it after it has rested. Have you found this to be the case with the extruder?
I have always wanted to make fresh pasta but I thought it was too advanced for just a at home cook. Thanks for sharing your recipe and showing me it's possible. Now I just got ta get the pasta press and I'm good to go! Thumbs up!
Ricks like a kid in a candy store. Thank you for letting him go first with his cutting the pasta. He makes my day he’s so funny he must have you laughing all the time love y’all’s new channel
I think the Kitchen Aid attachment that has the maker where the dough comes out flat and has the adjustments then put the flat dough through the spaghetti maker is better and a bit quicher as well as spaghetti is thinner.
Once you dry the pasta its shelf stable for eons in an air tight container. You can find more details on the egg aspect of pasta dough being stored dried outside of the fridge online.
Hi You answered my question when you mentioned you were going to try all types of flour. My question was if 100% whole wheat flour would work in the machine. Thanks
Yes you can use it and lots of other types of flour. We are finding every type we have tried works ok, but as you know, the textures are going to be different. So it comes down to your preference with taste and texture. You can really get creative.
Great job! Nothing beats the taste of fresh pasta. The best part of it is you control everything that goes into it. I am cleaning my pasta maker up and hope to follow you both down this road of new experiences.
Thank you, Margo. Right, the thing about home made is not having a bunch of additives. And the results taste so much better. We are happy to hear you've got the idea to make some too!
Yum ... now I need the darn pasta maker attachment for mine too, LOL. What I wonder is can you cook it al dente, I am kind of picky about my pasta and don't like it mushy. You've got me craving spaghetti now of course, I've got pot of homemade chili on the stove though, so thats what supper will be. I've been sick for almost a week, developed a cold over top of whatever else I've had so now I'm suffering with that. Thanks for sharing ... that is a very cool attachment.
I wonder if you can make pasta of different colors by adding a little vegetable juices such as beets, spinach or even some tomato paste to the pasta dough.
So much fun! You can not imagine how much fun it was to watch you two going through this "new" adventure! It is so much fun to watch you both in the kitchen together!!!! You need to combine your two channels into this one...you can have videos of just one or the other of you every so often, but you are not going to every be the same after Pasta the word....what a great name!!!!! hugs, Judie
Making flavored pastas will be a lot of fun. I h add be a different pasta attachment. It's a roller and cutter. Now there is 6 humans and 2 Rick with a small portion for Kathy
Your dough is on the edge of being too dry. Better than too wet I suppose. I've made a lot of pasta. I've never had a disaster but some were better than others. You're right, egg size differs.
After the first time I made pasta I’ve never bought store pasta after I made my own I’ve been making it for a couple of years now and I can’t wait to make a pasta dinner to share with my mother-in-law and my new house is done being remodeled so I can move into it here in a couple months
Great job, but can I give you a hint, eliminate the olive oil in your water, it will prevent your sauce from sticking to your pasta. Never put oil in your water. Advice from an Italian 😊
Now when the newness wears off and you've tried every sort of pasta I'd like to see a lower calorie or keto friendly recipe made it such a thing is possible. I have my mother's kitchen aid and many attachments but that one.
You know, I never thought much about it, but that's a good idea, we should change that up and do it the right way. Thanks for the question. We're glad for your comment.
Right, let's eat. Glad to hear you had some of those O's. I'm sure Rick will be making some o's pasta with the macaroni cutting plate. He was thinking how fast to cut the pasta as it comes out. LOL
It looks like fun but I will stick to enjoying watching you making the pasta and I am going to keep paying $2.00 for the dry stuff. Thanks for the video.
LOL, that's ok. Thanks for watching and commenting. We couldn't believe we waited this long to try this, but we will still be using the dry stuff too. :-)
Great job you guys work great together fresh pasta is so much better than the box pasta you can freeze the leftover dough It freezes very well thanks for another great video you guys should be nominated for a shorty award 🍝
Great video! I love your mixer Kathy in my favorite color, Toffee Delight. My KitchenAid Hand Mixer is the color of Rick. I hope to get my mixer later in the year. Can’t wait to see more.
There's a company in Italy that sells extra discs for different cuts designed and made for this extruder. I saw the link for it in another video about this extruder. When I find the link again I'm going to order a couple to check out.
If you add a little semolina flour to the wheat flour, at least 1/3 semolina, you will get a much stronger pasta that can hold up to boiling better. I usually do half and half. TIME TA EAT!!
Looks great and I bet it tastes great too! We love homemade pasta and homemade sauce. yum yum! Can't wait to see more videos using it. How is it to clean? I have the Philips pasta maker and it's pretty easy to clean.
Thank you, Mae. It's really easy to clean, and they included a pick tool that makes it easy to get any leftover pasta bits our of the plates that the pasta goes through. Pretty nice!
@@PastaWord I bought the other one first. The one you have looks like it strains the machine, does it? I bought the bowl lift 5 quart because it’s a little stronger when doing large dough batches.
@@MrTonyharrell No the machine shouldn't be straining, we made the dough too heavy because it was our first time. The other times that we made the dough better it went through real smooth. :)
Adults version of play dough! I had to bust out my pasta maker and made some fettuccine and spaghetti for the first timei! Thanks for the inspo!🤩👍🏼🥰
I wish I had a Kitchen Aid mixer so I could make this. My mouth is watering!! I'm 71 and never owned one......
Thank you for the nice comment! I think you would enjoy having one. :-)
You're never too old to get a new kitchen appliance! :) Show those kids and grandkids that MomMom can learn some new tricks!
Great job kids..nothing that brings a couple together like the joys of cooking together and savoring the spoils of your work..looks great...will pasta word
Thanks Stephen. Right, it's fun and nurturing and something to be appreciated. That was a very thoughtful comment.
I would rather use the pasta roller and spaghetti attachment. It takes a shorter time to process. It looks like the extruder attachment is taking so much time.
Nice to see you cooking together. Congratulations!
Thank you very much!
This is one of the greatest thing I have learnt. Thanks alot for giving me a hint.
Bobby Flay taught me that if you salt you water enough while boiling pasta, you don't need any oil. The oil prevents the sauce from sticking to your noodles. Just thought I would pass on. Thank you both for teaching me how to make fresh pasta. Looks so good! Yummy!
Stephanie McCollum didn’t know that I know a little pasta water added after helps the sauce stick
james stephenson I didn’t know that either. I knew using pasta water to reconstitute left over speg or Alfredo when reheating made it creamy. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the Bobby Flay tip. Glad you liked the idea of making the home made pasta, it's amazing how basic and easy it was.
Yes, no oil in water for pasta boiling! Newbie amateur mistake. Add kosher salt after water starts to boil and your done.
You two are just too cute. I just got my pasta press and cannot wait to try it! I love your enthusiasm!
Great video as always!you clearly have a number of skills for enything you try.what I like beast is the joyful energy you both have
Thanks so much!
Loving it Rick and Kathy. Good job you guys 👍👍
You both have busy jobs
I don’t know how you have been “ producing “ 3-4 videos each week between your various channels // bravo !!😆
Hey, thanks for noticing. We are having a blast growing our channels and cooking some good stuff for you. We appreciate your very nice comment!
The copper mixer is gorgeous! From far away it actually looks like the real copper one. Amazing
Thank you! It's so pretty, it inspires me to use it!
I like the copper over the blue. It looks finished and professional. I personally have the 6qt bowl lift pro in Empire Red and I love it. I prefer bowl lift over tilt head but have been thinking of getting me a mini tilt head for smaller batches.
You two are too cute! Just got my first KA mixer on Black Friday! Will need to add pasta to the list of things to make! ❤
I absolutely love your chemistry and fun with this.
Hi Rick and Kathy, The spaghetti looks so fun to make and I bet delicious!! I like the Parmesan- Reggiano cheese addition. 💖👍🍝
Thanks, June! We had a blast making it and the cheese was like icing on the cake.
Thanks for taking the time to go from mixing the dough to taste testing! Great video!
You bet! Glad you liked the video.
Oh my gosh! That looks so fun! I love it how y’all are so excited about your new things.
Thanks, Jan. It's like getting a new toy! LOL

Hi Rick & Kathy,
Nice job making the pasta. Looks great. 👍
Hi, Thank you very much!
You guys are going to have a lot of fun with that !
You're right about that. Imagine the possibilities!
Hello good job although you need a scale measure by grams … dough will be perfecto 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Loved the video, I just ordered an Artisan Mini now I know what my first attachment will be!
You two are adorable! Now, do the whole meal deal with the meatballs! Love to you both!
Wow neat. I need to get one for my Kitchenaid
Thanks, Barbara. We are asking ourselves why we never got one before. We are looking forward to getting a lot of use from this.
Great lesson ...my favorite is bucatini omg more cheese please...homemade sauce the best ...my favorite food on earth pasta ...pasta word 👍
Wow, thank you kindly, Jan! (Oh that parmigianno reggiano almost didn't make it home on the car ride. LOL)
Love it. Just like a man, he started dropping big handfuls in the pot. LOLOL to cute. Made my day!!!
😁 Yes, you noticed that! LOL
The pasta attachment is a good tool if you make a lot of pasta shapes. I like the fusilli disk.
I love your bowl. I collect this design and the pink design.
Nice job! You make me want to make my own pasta
Thanks you so much! And.... we think you should!
What a sweet couple 😊
Oooh the finished product looked delicious! Now I know what's for supper!
Rick, I love the color of your mixer! If I ever get one it will be the same color as yours!
Thanks, Ronda. Oh that is such a great color for a mixer. We hope you get one like that one day.

Ok, long drive, but we'll keep the pasta warm. LOL Thanks a lot!

You're welcome. It has become much easier for us with a little practice and with trying some different recipes. It's rather easy to clean up too.
When the pasta floats it is done
Thanks.
Yum, yum. Am so hungry watching this video for home made spaghetti noodles . Was fun to watch. Thanks for sharing . 😊

You are a beautiful couple. I like the way the two of you are doing this together. I really enjoyed this review.
Just wondering why measure dry ingredients in a liquid measuring cup?

That is Awesome! Too bad you don’t live closer as I have homemade spaghetti sauce in my freezer. Take dare
Oh, that would be so nice to get together on your sauce and our pasta! Thanks for your nice comment!
May I suggest canning sauce instead of freezing? A little work but shelf life is longer and no worries of freezer burn.

The glass measuring cup is for liquids. The cup you used to take out the flour is the correct cup to use.

Are you using a liquid measuring cup for your flour? I thought you should always measure dry ingredients in measuring cups and spoons.
Sorry I guess I did. :)
