When you are sitting in the canoe you want to sitt up right but still be pretty relaxed in your hips, knowing that the balance is there without having to be tense. During the first few rows I use my arms while having my core work as a balance point. As I start to speed up I use my back and my core, the legs works way more then people think. Now the arms are more of a link to the paddle then something actually dragging the paddle. So what actually pushes you forward is your back, core and legs. (Side note the rotation you get from pushing down your leg should be cancelled out by rotating your body and the force is put into the paddle). I start the race at max speed and I'm at my fastest 50 meters into the race. Then I try to keep that speed as long as possible. While also trying to reach out as far forward as possible. Speed slowly dwindles towards the end though. Hope this transition is understandable. Only meet Peter a few times, he paddles at the same club as me.
