DONT BUY A VOLVO - Reality of Volvo in India

- This is what Volvo products are like - Unreliable. After giving a defective car although they do accept their mistakes but don't want to do anything about it. #automobile #autocarindia #motoroctane #volvo #volvos90 #volvoxc40 #volvocars #bmw #mercedes #audi #volvoxc60 #carwow
The idea of uploading this video was to only inform the people how #volvo is as a brand. I could have uploaded this video on the day it was shot as well but I didn't only because I 'expected' volvo to take action. Although volvo admitted their mistake, they did nothing about it. I am really overwhelmed by the love and support I've received here through the comments.
I've filed a consumer complaint against Volvo today and I will update as and when there is one.
Pehle toh banda itni mehngi car le or upper car bar bar service centre ja rhi hai kasam se heart attack jaise feeling ajaye mujhe toh. Kiya isme consumer court se help mil sakti hai kia ??? Ya police fir jaise kuch ho sakta hai kia ?? I mean ki agar ye situation kisi bhi ache luxury brand ke sath aisa hoto bande ko kiya karna chahiye refund ke liye ya car replacement ke liye
“Don’t buy a Volvo.”
I can’t afford one bro.
His only legal action after registration of vehicle is to file a consumer case against Volvo. Showroom can also be made a party. But what he's doing is waste of time...
That's not a waste of time as it's spreading awareness.
Even I dream of owning a Volvo someday.
Boss yeh log dealers hai. Yeh log defects car sell kar ke fir service ke name pe acha bill bana ye hai.
Dealers actual facts ko hide karte hai. U pls take legal action to wards dealer along with Volvo as a party
For filing a case such evidence is useful.
True that. There are many judgements which force a company to refund full in case of a manufacturing defect. If what he is saying is true then it is a fit case for manufacturing defect
50 lakh is a huge amount. Spending 50 lakh and facing so much hassle and problems is totally unacceptable.
50 Lakhs is a nominal amount for a Swedish Built Volvo.
Same happend to us bro , same manager same excuses for every thing . XC90

This guy seems completely disinterested in the story. Typical Tata/Mahindra behaviour. His ASSURANCE is equivalent to any politician’s promise.
Sounds about right and this was Hyundai dealership’s case as well when I found out the car I bought from them had a repainted panel.
😊
My 2023 kia Carens top model started to have engine light on after second free service total reading 5600 kms …. It is standing at service centre from last 10 days they will replace EGR part and guess what they don’t have that part in India inventory.
It's seems that you want more views or likes rather than resolution of the problem. Volvo karidne ka aukat rakne wale video nahi banathe. Apne valkeel ke through notice bejthein gain. Pura bachkana hatkat hai
How do you know that I've not sent a notice to volvo? I've already sent a notice to volvo and am filing a case soon.
Disinterested means unbiased
Maruti Suzuki gives better customer service than these folks. I own a Ciaz for 3 years and haven't had any problem so far. Yes, I agree the build quality is compromised but atleast I don't have to waste my time running around inexperienced staff. They can only apologize. Surprising to see Volvo creating a bad image. Firstly, the service centre employees aren't trained well to handle sophisticated/international brands. Hence they don't survive in Indian market for long.
Maruti me bhi aise he hota hain .yeh sab carwale aise he hain.hamesha car ka make dekhke leni chahiye
Ask someone who works in MS service centre, you will know the truth.
I work in nexa…..and our dealership’s after sales service iss too good then these dealerships in india
Ciaz is 4 Starred.
@@nileshshrivastava4388still one of the most used cars by GOI.
Once the car is registered in your name, its yours for all legal purposes. Whatever argument you have with the dealer/company has to be resolved with them under warrenty or outside it. If your are not satisfied with dealer or Volvos resolution then your only option is consumer court and further legal action.
People think Volvo Cars as a Swedish company. It’s was bought by Chinese company Gily now. Horrible customer service and product across the world. I had a very bad experience in Australia as well. Don’t go for any Chinese car, no customer service and poor quality.
Chinese companies catapulted in their automotive industry due to their Customer care.
@@SahlEbrahim not true, They are growing fast due to cheap prices. However I don't think they will be able to grow into developed market due to their poor quality. They are only selling cheap EV's of low quality. Have very poor customer service as well as poor quality. Significant drop in resale value as well, so what you save while buying, you end up loosing while selling.
@@nileshroy72 their high end EVs are also very good so it's not just about cheap products. Anyways I am not gonna waste my time with someone who can't not be biased about any country he doesn't like.
@@SahlEbrahim no that's because of their value proposition. My brother was so enticed by haval in Dubai because it's feature list was just brilliant compared to the competition. However he refrained from buying it after knowing it has reliability issues...
Horrible customer service . Is this how you are going to treat your customers volvo? Shame on your company.
Volvo was better before the Chinese captured it 😢
This is a very isolated case. I've been a Volvo owner for the past 10 years. 10 years, 2 cars, very little to no problems, considering the first one was 12 years old (with over 250000 km) at the time.
Every problem was fixed and consumer experience was more than great with compensations for inconveniences.
Rascals ! File a case against them & get the full refund !!😊
👍
I am at the verge of booking XC90 . This video has made me change my decision.
Never Ever else your volvo will be in company's service centre only 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Buy xc90, excellent support, service & nice vehicle
Imagine buying a Volvo in 2024 😂😂
I guess social media propaganda by tatti motor 😂
Me too. Going for a legender than this one .
Bro, you are so professional! Honestly I appreciate your patience.
Volvo should resolve this asap. Take immediate action to maintain customer satisfaction
Know someone with an XC90..the car has spent a maximum of its life in the workshop.
All these after chinese takeover.
Please give me your contact number. We are facing a similar issue
This is really shameful from volvo. I wont recommended a volvo to anyone. Better to buy Germans. 😢
Rofl. Germans have more problem
I'm in Canada and I gotta say, my VW Atlas Line and Taos are solid rides. I've had a bunch of Japanese cars, but nothing beats German engineering.
German cars are much worse in India…changing of any part be it as small as a bluetooth will take a lakh for replacement and they never keep any of the parts in house and take a minimum of 3-5 days for that part to arrive in India
Better to buy Japanese for hassle free ownership.
Yes but japanese cars don’t give as much features as a German/Sweden one unless one buys a lexus which is not at all worth the price.Volvo was practically the only good choice that was available
Thankyou for sharing.. not many people share there experience when shit goes down.. do make a video of what finally happened
Honestly Volvo I see in India and Volvo I see now in Berlin, has enormous amount of difference. Volvo India must be compromising on quality, wherein Indian customer buys VOlvo for quality. If this would have happen in DEor swiss, they totally replace the car.
Ford still providing top notch service 🗿
sabke me issue h
Battery was always a issue at Volvo, even my v40 has a lot of problems with the battery ever since we bought it
As i understand, the battery has been changed thrice, the reason for that is not mentioned in the video, but i take it that it was getting discharged in one or two days.
There can be 4 or 5 reasons for this and probably the service guys did not do a thorough diagnosis to find out the root cause.
As i see the situation, you can either go legal and wait for an year or two for the courts to decide. There is no gaurantee that the court will rule in your favour, as it is only the battery issue, and as per warranty terms, the dealer has replaced it, albiet thrice. So filing a case may or may not get you the desired result, plus it is time consuming.
Courts very rarely pass orders for refund or replacement by the manufacturer/dealer, unless there has been a very serious concern with a major assembly and it cannot be rectified. A battery problem is a minor concern.
Or you may try to further leverage social media to highlight your issue, but that also does not gaurantee a favorable result. At best you may succeed in defaming the company.
What further action you wish to initiate is your choice, I have tried to give you a balanced view on the probable outcomes.
Kindly explain what is the issue ?
The laws in other countries are like if any automobile faces the same issue for more than two time s the manufacturers has to replace the vehicle but in India we have to go through legal battles
So, what's the next course of action?? Filed cosumer complaint?
Very good art of conversation, very well put. Hope you get justice soon.
Kindly update, what happens.
File a consumer protection case with your State against speed volvo along with primary party as Volvo India, this case will earn you complete compensation of the vehicle along with interest and all the service costs. And additional compensation from Volvo India. This case clearly violates the conditions of the vehicle. The service center has made a mess of the vehicles integrity and it's operational capabilities. May be substandard parts, ECU messed up.
I have a 2021 xc60 inscription. I’ve driven it 30k kms so far and yet haven’t had a single issue with the car with daily driving in Indian conditions.
I’m absolutely happy with the car and would totally recommend it to anyone who’s in the market for one.
I’ve been to this service center as well and I haven’t faced any issues with them as well.
You sir have received a lemon from the manufacturer. Pls take it up to volvo india and they will happily give you a replacement or return your money.
These service guys are powerless when it comes to a car that has manufacturing defect.
Very good that you exposed on social platform. I faced very similar issues with AMP Motors (Jag XF) and Zenica (Audi A4). Wrote to top management to no avail. Sold both cars for pennies and got BMW which is much better (been 3 years). Hope you and your father end up with a great lux car. Best of luck.
Hey there, the lane keep assist feature might not be suitable for the typical road conditions in India. But I noticed something else - the deep battery discharge suggests that your car may have an earthing issue. This could be causing the battery to drain faster than it should, and the ECU might not be able to control it properly.
If ECU can't control it properly then how to PROPERLY solve earthing issue in Volvo?
Closing statement was amazing
Battery mai itne issue aa rahe hai too aapko to ev hi nahi banani chahiye
🤣🤣🤣🤣👌
I have been a volvo xc 90 user since 6 years. Covered 1.3 L KM. Had issue with many things. But got it covered under extended warranty
Broo, in every brand particularly Top brands have these falws but, the brand value matters on how they care customer when these kind of failure they face. In every category this is common, but thing is how they satisfy customer with their service.
There must be something remaining on in the background even when the vehicle js turned off n locked. Thats what might be draining the battery. The need to find this cause. Theres no OBD code for that.
Please do update how you proceed with the case, I hope everything works out in your favor soon.
Same
Volvo is not the company it used to be ! Understand this that it is now owned by Geely Automobile which is a Chinese company !
What is the exact problem?
I am planning to take a Volvo Recharge.
I remember my old car atleast 4-5 brake down after changing a new battery and lost my warranty card.
Changed alternator, eventually all problems solved after using a Third New battery.
Please share an update regarding the same .
Hi. I don’t know much about cars and multimeters but I have an idea for you to get this issue resolved:
1. Open the car door and jam the door latch with some object so that the car thinks its door is locked. Then lock the car with ur fob and put it away.
2. Open the fuse box and check every fuse with a multimeter after 15 mins or more after the car’s computer goes into sleep mode.
If your battery drained in about a day or two it would be much easier to find the source of the battery drain.
Again I know nothing about this stuff but I think you might want to take matters into ur own hands because they will not help you.
I hope this helps❤
Salute your calmness man!!!
Somewhere battery getting grounded.. it might be some circuit issue
Shocking.. didn’t expect this from a brand like Volvo.. thanks for sharing your experience.. I was considering an xc60 for my wife.. I might just stick with the x3 instead
Glad I could help!
Thanks for giving this information, Even I am planning to buy Volvo in my family, but your video is Eye opener to us
My friend also had horrible experience with his XC90. He gave it for a normal service checkup. They forgot to check engine oil or something. And after few months car stopped in middle of highway. Car was then towed to the service center. And they said that you didn't check oil or something on time that's why engine is locked and now you'll have to pay full amount for the new engine. They had to fight a lot with Volvo for this after which they agreed to do it without any extra cost. My friend has spent like 20Lakhs on just the maintenance of car over 9-10 year period. Which is crazy if you think about it.
20 lakhs for 9 to 10 years is a reasonable amount you you once look the mentainence cost of 1 German V8 or a Jaguar.
Just 1 year service of Jaguar XF is 5 lakhs.
So you would have to spent 45 to 50 lakhs on that car.
Every company is testing electrical technology on consumers.so be cautious guys .go with tried and tested regular fuel options.
Also I would suggest go for Japanese cars they never fail .
Update?
It is sad that India doesn’t have lemon laws. A brand new car that breaks frequently should be a buy back from manufacturer or atleast replacement vehicle should be provided by manufacturer. Volvos have a high lemon rate in US even though most of their cars are made in Europe or US.
Shocking to hear this about volvo car I am planning to buy xc60 .....but after this I might need to reconcile my plan
Hi.. Battery leakage is a frustrating issue. But since the drainage is happening at such a high pace, there should be some earthing happening leading to current drain.
Battery replacement might not be an apt solution. Have them check the Electricals thoroughly. Just a thought, did you get an outside accessory installed recently? May be a dash cam? If yes, take it off line and try seeing if problem gets resolved.
Better to work with the workshop to find the root cause of the problem. Since car is registered and year old, neither the manufacturer or the dealer will give you replacement.
They have checked everything and have not been able to find the fault so they have changed the battery. My car has NO accessories installed.
I own a Volvo XC60 but before the newer BS6 models.
I have a very good and reliable experience from my car but yea I have seen very bad service and build quality for the newer models.
At the end Chinese build quality overtook the Swedish soul of the brand.
My girlfriend has spent over 8lks on various repairs on her 2016 V40 r design. I have had to pick her up multiple times after the car has left her stranded. It makes my Land Rover look reliable lol
Everything from turbo, catalytic converter to various engine components, suspension issues, hoses and pipes completely failed and the dealership could never even diagnose the problem properly. It always took, loading it up on a tow truck, taking it to 2-3 shops and getting multiple mechanics’s opinions to diagnose the real problem because the dealership would sometimes keep it for 2 months at a time and still not be able to let alone solve but even diagnose the problem.
Ultimately the engine completely failed at 60k kms. Apparently broken fragments from the turbo and / or catalytic converter went into the engine block (still not sure what killed it cause they could never diagnose it)
and she ended up selling it for a mere 4lks.
I feel like they’re great cars but they’re just not properly homologated for India and the dealers / mechanics are extremely poorly trained and lack the skill set required to work on them.
It’s a Chinese car company.
@@gumz4183 it’s owned by geely but I believe there’s hardly any intervention in the design or manufacturing of a Volvo from the Chinese investor. Just like how Land Rover isn’t an Indian company despite being owned by one.
The Sweeds just don’t seem to be as good as they claim when it comes to making cars unlike their German or Japanese rivals.
@@kr63 parent company controls the money. Manufacturing and design(technical) get affected greatly. But I guess we can always debate the technicality of ownership. Land Rover is an Indian company, Volvo is a Chinese company. Whoever controls the money claims ownership. Since consumers won’t associate luxury with a brand from the third world, they masquerade as European by showing they retained R&D at the company’s original home. But the parent company controls the money and are looking to make ROI.
It’s never good news when complex manufacturing setup trades hands.
@@kr63are u indian
@@gumz4183 fair points. I guess I agree to most extent. The manufactures however always seem to try to convince you otherwise though and sometimes you do get swayed lol
Why is Volvo India as a trusted car manufacturer is holding back itself. ???
Yes they should replace, sadly when these brands come to India service quality drops at times like this
The company should be BLACK LISTED & it's license to manufacture cars should be cancelled. Self cognizance should be taken by court of law
Cancelling my booking after watching this dont want to deal with this type of people...
the real problem is not company it is government policies of GST/TAX/RTO. due to this most of the time company are not able to replace or refund. because ones billing is done and rto registration done. there is nothing like undo in the government system. i am not taking side of anyone. one of my dealer friend told me the real problem. many times company wanted to replace or refund but due to all this government policies it is next to impossible to support customer
Service centre should be Company owned.
Sir kya raha results fir ? Pls explain or make next video
Similiar experience with premium product like macbook even after an year also they saw there is no error in diagnostic report the good thing is Apple didn’t wasted neither their time nor mine they asked simple to submit laptop in service center and within 45 money refunded that too out of warranty product. They acknowledged the fact of default unit out of million units. Rather than fighting or going legal is waste of time they valued the time. I believe volvo supposed to act in the similiar fashion i in genz but now i got some feedback of volvo.
The only problem is volvo's service. It's pathetic. I own a xc60 and have experienced third class service multiple times. No doubt it's far more reliable than other brands but service sucks.
They don't have any feedback mechanism, your first and last point of contact is the service center. Senior management never responds or acts on your emails.
If there is abnormal draining of battery within 1 or 2 days, then problem must be with the cabling / wiring which is causing current leakage...no point in replacing battery again & again...service technician must be an expert to diagnose this...Unfortunately, our majority showroom technicians are not the best in this...!!!!☹
Why u people dont appoint A lawyer n put a case in consumer court with all proof. Volvo will give u a new car asap. And put everything in Inetrnational Volvo website n X handle also.
Dont waste ur time recording video. Just put a case in Consumer court.
Even if he does that, the consumer court will ask the company to repair the vehicle. May be he is right in arguing but law will not support him in this case.
@@vishwasb8629true that. Indian judiciary system is the worst in the world
@@vishwasb8629 The vehicle owner should demand a compensation more than the price of the car, only then there will be a happy settlement. It the consumer's right.
@@kundanpatravali I’m happy if he gets the price of 2 cars as compensation. But whenever you buy a car/ machine the agreement you get into is, if there is any fault in the car the company will replace that part and if the consumer has gone through some inconvenience then they are bound by the law to compensate that and nothing more.
@@gulatinimishok then u can leave to pakistan.dont stay in india
If they are not entertaining so do consumer complaint. Same things happened with me for sony oled tv.
I was planning to buy xc90. But i think it could be an issue for after sales.
Na to apne time ki value hai na hi kisi aur ke time ki. Nobody takes any responsibility. And everyone has mastered the art of giving customers a runaround.
As per my experience dont depend upon services rather go for built quality and availability of spare parts.Find a good mechanic and rough use your car and chill.. And dont go for luxury cars.
File a Consumer case. You have a good case. There are several case laws that will support your contention
We would like to know the updates...
Wake up guys ... What else u can expect from a Chinese company
I was thinking of buying a Volvo but now will have to get a PDI done properly if no other cases are found, will research for sometime, otherwise no Volvo
A PDI won’t help as these kind of issues can’t be detected by the naked eye.
Only structural/body/part defect can be deteted. Tecnical/electrical fault is not possible unless it happens right there infront of both parties, which is also a rare case
@@dominic_t. Company should take full responsibility and should correct the issue, someone has spend a huge amount of money and if he is getting a defective product then it should be the ownership of the company to resolve the issue, really feeling bad about it and not have mixed feelings for Volvo, once I dreamt of buying it but now mixed feelings, bad bad really bad
Sad!! Volvo lost its glory after Geely.
Update ????
It is really frustrating situation after paying so much money
what's the update?
you can approach consumer forum
The only solution for such things is that the upgradation of laws against such automobile manufacturers
Volvo can easily replace its car or call back for goodwill but This is the problem with company's Indian management, those gyus are MBAs and to raise profit they want minimise loss, they know that if customer moves to consumer court it will take 7-8 years, then they will files appeals in state, in centre then supreme court and customer gets tired during this 14-15 years. Because you have to pay the lawyers from your pocket while they have hired team of advocates. In between the culprit switches the company and enjoys life. I suggest you to before moving to consumer court (if you are), ask the company and dealer for technical inspection of car for manufacturing defects. Because at later stage higher court will reject you for no inspection.
Hi, is your issue resolved??
Automotive companies should be under control by some government association, so that any trending issues in cars can be captured and questioned to the top most authorities sitting wherever in the world. And us customers get our value for what ever money, time, and harrassment suffered
I got the same issue with Tata Indica aura Safire . Bought on cash 4.20 lakh
Cash. I never bought Tata car and I never recommend it to any one his horrors are all known to me . I always respected Volvo . It’s surprising indeed
i feel very bad for the owner to go through this difficult situation after purchasing such an expensive product which in this case is the volvo xc 40 and and getting satisfactory response for the same. This clearly indicates lack of quality check in manufacturing of volvo cars as a whole and also lack of training of their employees which can be clearly understood from the video .
all what i can demand from my side is a a replacement car for the owner (obviously) or the money refunded completely (either of the before two as per the owners choice ) and stricter regulations (like the ones in EU for an example) set up so that these companies understand the power of customer and do not harass them both mentally and financially
ps :-owning a tiago ev makes more sense than luxury cars😂
I feel maruthi has better agencies that give reliable service and AFAIK even though Suzuki is not great in terms of safety it's still better in terms of its reliablility on roads than any of these fancy brands
Sirji aapka patience level bahut hi badhiya hai. 50 lakh ki gaadi lene k baad bhi aap itne shanti se baat kar rahe hai. Salute hai aapko.
As of now in recent times there is no USP to buy Volvo anymore
File a consumer case against them.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I considered Volvo as a reliable brand. This was an eye opener.
This is possible in india.
I have bought dominar and have lots of issues and i go to svc. I still owned but and learn the lesson from this not buy high end car/bike which least in no
Lots of spare issues everyone not to be know how to work on it. By which i have maruti grand vitara with higher parts availability and top notch service network last but not least reliability
The executive is attempting to ignore the car issue and simply fix it at the lowest cost possible before the car's warranty expires
buy a general cars from tata, Hyundai maruti
kyuki actually masses me car banane wale experts h
aap koi bhi luxury car lo complete nonsense h service expensive h no no reason ammount streched h lekin service quality utni hi khrab
The laws that support the customers are very weak we customers pay the heavy taxes but their r no strong laws against these automobiles manufacturers
I was talking to a Driver and he rated Volvo as a very poor vehicle . His best car was a Mercedes . His BMW was very unreliable and had to be sold. He spoke most fondly of the Mercedes .
This is not expected from a premium brand like Volvo, paisa toh brand ke liye lete hai, phir bhi chalu product.
For 50Lakhs budget, VW Tiguan, Skoda and Tucson are better choices. All these three vehicles are highly reliable
I booked a Volvo 60 few days back but after watching this thinking to withdraw my booking. Thanks for the information and reality check of volvo india.
If you have 50 lakhs straight away get a toyota and if more than 1 CR a lexus or a BMW thats it in budget Honda
Wow, surprisingly i was recommending Volvo to my brother in law yesterday considering its reliability and build quality. Your experience has definitely given me some thoughts to consider before actually buying.
I’m glad this video could help. Please do consider and not buy a Volvo. I have nothing against the brand but IFF you go through the same with your vehicle be rest assured you won’t get any support from volvo
I was planning for volvo xc60. But would rethink the decision.
Very bad experience. Luxury brand dealer behaving like mass production brand.
I am impressed by the way you dealt with him without losing your temper even once!!
