The hidden room sparks all kinds of imaginary uses in the past. Rafael is an amazing talent and I hope you have him playing at some of your future events.
It would be really cool if you could put together a video that shows the particular scenes from movies that your Chateau has been used in! Show the scenes, and then the actual space. Like, in detail. 🤩 I would love to see that. Plus, it's work you'll do indoors, absolutely no qardening required! 😆
Beautiful, calming and charming content. Please don’t change anything about your video recipe, it is a breath of fresh air on this (often loud and showy) platform. Thank you for you hard work!
Thank you, Marie! That is a very nice complement to hear! Ian really loves making these videos and is always trying to improve with his camera work. We hope each video gets a little better in some way 😊
Ian thorn bush fight is cinema gold! The young man was sensational! Bravo you two great vedio! So many do Chateau vlogs; none with quite the personality that you both bring! So look, forward to Sunday to spend a little time with you! Love you guy's!! ♥
Then young violinist was great. Maybe you can get him to play for a reception at the chateau for your patrons? I can relate to Ian's comment about bringing all the groceries inside at once, I do the same. What make multiple trips? 🙂 One idea for the hidden room may be to use it as a media room. Merry advent-
I love your videos streams. This one had me laughing at Ian's battling in a game of "Tug of War" with the fence and thorny brush, though I know it probably wasn't as humorous to Ian at the time. At the end of the stream with the funny outtake with the drone, was icing on the cake. 🤣 Thanks for sharing each week. You guys are great!
Ian cut out about 10 minutes of him pulling out trees 😆 They were so thorny that the branches weaves together. He is so happy to see the trees removed!
Tip from a gardener: bamboo can be invasive. When you put those bamboo stems in the ground to support your cypresses, put the bamboo in upside down to keep it from sending out roots and taking over.
Try cayenne pepper in your shoes, it will not burn or blister, but it will warm the circulatory system and keep you warm! It is an old landscaper trick
Another great video! The town is so quaint and rustic! Talented young man was a joy to watch play! The golden room seems to hold secrets does it not?! And as always the joyful beauty of Daphne and the strength and humor of Ian are the best part of this fantastic channel! So happy to see new videos so often, thank you!!
I’ve literally been binging your content all day. Your grandfather was so much like my mother, and stained glass was one of her many loves, she also made it as well and my house is literally full of it! Anyway, love the chateau, my great grandparents immigrated from Touraine to Canada and then my grandparents to the US, so I love seeing the French countryside in your videos. Such history! Maybe one day, I’ll get to visit, myself. 🥰
Ian, Years ago I struggled with the groceries and the distance from the car to my door. The kids were in school, so I borrowed their wagon. I put all my groceries in it and pulled it to my door. Saved my shoulder and lower back. You are still young so your bodies are more forgiving. Love your videos. Such a beautiful place! And such a lovely couple!
That window is beautiful. What a wonderful legacy your grandfather has left and hats off to you for continuing on with it in the same way. I love your “ can do” spirit
Ian's cutting the thorn bushes must have hurt. He did a great job! The small town you live in is very unique. I loved the young violinist, who played really well 👏! I hope to see him on parties you give at the chateau!
Thank you! It means a lot to hear you would like to see more! Hopefully we will make longer videos when we get started on the offices next month! There will be a lot of renovation work to be done 😊
Those painted beams were amazing. Is that a false floor or added floor in that room. Judging by the window, it looks like it could have been a room with tall ceilings. What is below?
Ian does seem to struggle with green things...😊 What a great hidden room, a small private writing nook one day? Oh how marvelous to visit a French Christmas market, and Raphael must come play at the chateau. The etching gift from the local realtor is beyond special ❤
Oh my Lord look down on these two kids for they have an astronomical job ahead of their brave hardworking hearts. Grandfather would be so proud of you two.
💕If you built up the sides of your trailer with removable panels of wood or a lighter material like plastic or metal roofing sheets you could of shredded those thorny bushes straight into it then put the shredded stuff into a pile somewhere to use later💕The golden room has many possibilities a storage area or a second bedroom to the room below making that a two bedroomed suite💕
Longer video please…you two are fun to watch! Since I’ve seen you on Stephanie’s channel I binged watch all your past videos and now I’ve caught up…God bless…
The lead in your window safe if you use simple precautions. Wash your hands after working with it. it is only harmful if the lead is very very crumbly and it has deteriorated to fine dust, then you would need to wear a face mask. I've work with molten lead and have been tested a number of times and never had a problem. A profession would replace a broken piece the same way you did, by bending back the lead cane, inserting the glass and bending back the cane. Smooth out the cane with a piece of smooth wood, re-solder the corner, putty the glass for a weather seal, add lamp black to color it. You could also add metal rods along the cane line to stiffen the glass and protect the glass from any more bowing. Small wires through the cane will tie the rod to the glass, solder in place and color them as well. If the cane is still malleable, you may not need to replace it, Some tightening, re-putty on a flat surface may do the trick. A lovely window. the weather is its worst enemy. Could protect it to with a clear glass on the outside. It is interesting that it is the one side sagging more so then the other. Does it get more sun. Or is that the side that people use to come in or out. Thanks for the videos.
Your lovely updates are a welcome addition to my week. I reckon the sort of secret room was a kids’ ‘secret space’. As a kid, I had a secret attic bedroom, which one accessed via a spiral staircase hidden behind the coats in a (very Narnia inspired) ‘hidden panelled’ closet door… so super cool! If you have children, keep that space as a secret for them.
I've just discovered your channel and I'm already hooked! Watching how much you've accomplished is inspiring and seeing the results of your hard work must be satisfying. I do, however, hold my breath each time Daphne replaces glass window panes without wearing safety gloves. 😟
Hi Daphne and Ian! Another great episode, and yet again, I love how your place is able to reveal hidden places to you, even after all these years that you have known it. I also loved your local village Christmas market where you were able to discover such a talented young man, and the chestnuts! I love roasted chestnuts. One of the best things about them is how they warm your hands when you clasp a bag of them. Highly recommended.
That small room just opens up more questions Why would the ceiling be that decorated? What was the room used for? Ian’s face that there was a hidden room was priceless xx
Daphne could seriously add to your revenues if she started an ASMR channel just talking about the chateau, history, your vision, projects with just her voice and still pictures transitioning the topics you are talking about. I find her voice so soothing and no disrespect, great for inducing naps!
I am curious to know if Daphnée learned French when she was young or mostly when she got the chateau. i love to hear her talking in French :) French in my mother’s tongue and we speak French at my home with our kids and neighbours by the way (from Quebec, Canada)
LUV the music (starts 6:55) when you're having that tug of war with the thorn bushes. Love it! Also music when you go to village brocante. Great music. Fun video. Mr. Jimenez is only 14!!! And he plays Dave Brubeck so well! (One of my favorite pieces from Brubeck!).
Those fencing posts you took out might be better for staking your cypress trees. We planted a few and they got badly chewed by, deer or wild boar. We have now protected them and they have recovered well. Hope yours don’t get chewed
So glad I found your channel. The videos are really well done, the music is great, the drone shots are wonderful. Very impressive. I hope you will continue to show us your work on the chateau and grounds in your entertaining videos!
Ian's fake out with the thorn bush winning was hilarious! Don't give in!🤣 This hidden room is fascinating - I wonder what the original structure looked like, as that ceiling is one of a grander room.
Those bushes probably placed as a hedge to stop people and animals falling in to the water. It looks like hedge haven't maintained for long time. Hedges are home for many species in wildlife.
I wonder if the 'thorny bushes' were Hawthorns? They get beautiful blossoms in spring and red berries the birds love in autumn. It may have been a hedge that over grew, you can let it sprout back up, if it comes back and keep it trimmed? Be careful not to rip too much out too fast in case you lose something that takes a long time to get established. I can't wait to see how the garden comes along, I just love the semi circular terrace in the woods!
It’s soo nice to have a close knit small beautiful town full of welcoming people!!! They seem wonderful neighbors and they really know how to embrace you it seems !!! You guys are soo full of love and your desire to continue to allow others to enjoy your wonderful château is amazing!!!keep doing your amazing work and keep working towards your dreams!!! I love you guys !! Thanks for sharing!!
This is an amazing channel, I love watching you guys slowly but surely get the chateau completed - it's going to take a few more years!!! Trees will always need support in the early months anyway, but also, I think the reason the trees started to sag is because you didn't stand on the root ball to push and press it into the ground before covering it - that's a tried and trusted method developed over hundreds of years!!! I will always trust proven history over modern-day science!! Keep up the good work!!! The garden is going to look lovely, but personally, I think you planted the cypress trees too close to the edges!! 🙂
Love, love that stained glass. Where the thorny bushes were looks like a lovely place for a rose garden. So glad you posted today I was hoping to see what you were up to.
You guys always have great episodes only wish they were longer. That gifted print of your chateau what a nice gesture it had me wondering… do you have any drawings/paintings of it when it was at its full scale size?
Great Channel! Please make sure the fresh bamboo sticks that support the cypress don‘t grow roots again. Getting rid of unwanted bamboo is a real pain in the **!
Thank you! We will keep an eye on them. We completely understand the invasive problem of bamboo. It’s a shame that it was ever planted on our property in the first place because it is now creating problems for our plumbing 😬 no more bamboo in the garden please!
I have loved watching your progress with the château, but I have to say that little bit with the stone at the end just made my day. Thanks for sneaking it in there.
I’m laughing about the drone because the same thing happened to me except after mine flew up and hit the tree, it flew down and over really fast, hit me in the head, then flew off into the bushes and broke apart🤣
Great video 👍 The most essential tools needed as owners of a chateau are, wood chipper machine, cherry picker, small digger or tractor then life will be good.
If you use fresh bamboo stakes in warmer months they will take root and sprout. Bamboo is usually invasive. Perhaps you could cut a bunch of them and let them dry out over winter so they don't take over your garden. Willow stakes will also root and become invasive.
I can fully support no gardening until at least April. Currently, here in Colorado, it is -5 degrees and I'm thinking about hibernation! Luckily, I can watch your videos until it warms up! Since the floors is half way up the windows, I'd say the bathroom used to have much high ceilings. Perhaps it was divided to save the painted beams from the humidity of the bathroom!
Thorny bushes are in winter mode,, ok to see what they appear in Spring,, they could be used for mulch.good bearer trees or your running strip..good poles for tree stands... R
I just discovered your channel and have watched all of your videos. You guys are doing amazing work on your Chateau. Your Grandfather would love what you are doing. I cannot imagine the work. I know how much time I spend on my house which is a tiny fraction of what you guys are dealing with. Thank you for taking us along on your journey. I am really enjoying your journey.
Thank you, Beverly! We are so glad that you’ve found us! We really appreciate your positive feedback and support 🥰 We have some fun project coming up in January, so you have great timing! See you next week 😉
Wow I was amazed that you guys found a staircase and I hoped by looking at the ceiling in the upper floor a trove of gold coins fell towards you guys😁😁😁👍
Another great episode capped off by "Fun with Drones"! Loved the captions! I thought it was finished, but the mighty drone rose again after its first fall much to excited reaction of Ian and his fitting final caption "Pure Luck"! Lol
I loved watching you fix the glass, and Ian working at clearing the brush and thank you for sharing the market with us. Just beautiful and that hidden room wow.
Oh, I hope your drone was ok! Amazing how much of a difference taking out those trees by the moat made. And once again you find something hidden; a whole room you’ve never seen before. I can’t imagine how fun that must be. I have to say I think you have the happiest dog alive!! What a place to romp and play:) What does Akia (spelling?) mean and how did you choose it? Love from Mary in Southern California 💗
Thank you! The drone is miraculously fine! He used it right after the crash 👌 Our dog is named Archaea and she is a Swiss Shepherd. The name comes from microbiology and doesn’t have any relation to our dog, but when Ian used the term in his Kinesiology studies, he thought it was an interesting name😊
The ceilings are definitely connected, but we think it was part of the room between the two master suites because that one has a big fireplace and seems oddly narrow. It would be fun to reconnect then, but it would involve completely removing the master bathroom… maybe we can find an old layout of the building from before the bathrooms were added.
@@TheBeauChateau Ha! Adding bathrooms to a Château or Palace is allways very very tricky. Something lost, something gained. I'm sure after thoughfull and careful consideration you will find the best solutions without destroying anything beautiful.
I don't know what I loved more: Daphne fixing the glass, Ian's thorny bush escapade, or that darling kid at the market. Not even gonna try to chose.
i hope he makes it to future weddings at the chateau

Superb manners
Love the ending with the drone emergency.

that would be a bit expensive as movie-scenes don't come for free...

As soon as I read hidden room I immediately thought of the hidden treasure. Can't wait to see it. Nite.
You are what I fall asleep to every single night, I just absolutely love watching everything you all do ❤️
I need a recording of Take Five! What a great piece for such a young person to know. Talented boy.
Loved the drone mishap. Made me smile!

New subscriber - loving this chateau! You have great spirit and charm, and what a worthwhile endeavor!
Another great episode capped off by "Fun with Drones"! Loved the captions! I thought it was finished, but the mighty drone rose again after its first fall much to excited reaction of Ian and his fitting final caption "Pure Luck"! Lol
I just love watching your video’s!!! The puppers looked like he was having a great time! 😂
Thank you so much! Archaea always loves when we work in the garden 😊
@@TheBeauChateau Very cool!! Thanks for taking the time to share that!! 😊
Seems like the little room is made inside an original grand room with beautiful ceilings and big windows that perhaps would be fun to recuperate?
The ceilings are definitely connected, but we think it was part of the room between the two master suites because that one has a big fireplace and seems oddly narrow. It would be fun to reconnect then, but it would involve completely removing the master bathroom… maybe we can find an old layout of the building from before the bathrooms were added.
@@TheBeauChateau Ha! Adding bathrooms to a Château or Palace is allways very very tricky. Something lost, something gained. I'm sure after thoughfull and careful consideration you will find the best solutions without destroying anything beautiful.
