For the nursery, since it's a little room with low ceiling, I would do a 'miniature room', like you're Alice in a doll house, mini desk, mini wardrobe, mini paintings on the wall, all to scale as if the ceiling was a normal high. It could be lovely and I bet the kids would love it :)
I’d do a wallpaper mural in this room, perhaps a woodland theme. This would create the illusion of height by drawing the eye upwards and would create a magical feeling.
Personally, I love the idea of the Hobbit theme for the nursery, and a pale golden yellow would blend beautifully with the wood and or green or blue offices
I discovered this channel via Benoit (after his accident) via Philipp and Anna and am loving my binge. I guess I'm now a certified chateau junkie as I now subscribe to both channels.
OMG the colour “talk” had me in stitches 😅 My husband is colour blind and no idea what is what but, has to put his two cents worth into the decision making💁🏼♀️❤🇨🇦
I studied colour theory in university. Babies 👶 cry most in yellow rooms according to studies. Certain types of pinks were most soothing. This was also tested on prisoners and they had the same results. The prisoners were more aggressive in yellow rooms and calm in the pink ones. A woodland hobbit theme sounds pretty cute!
You by far have the most beautiful openings of any other video. Ian is the Cecil B. DeMille of chateau videos🙌🏼 I loved the exchange about paint color. I work in an interior design firm and that is the biggest source of contention between couples, choosing a paint color. Great video as always ❤️
@@TheBeauChateau pls think of yellows or greens for nursery it's a true fact that these colours cue the brain to sleep .. this would be good colours for infants / babe's to sleep ... a chair for feeding and nappy change table , microwave for heating bottles .. x
Or the office in the dungeon debate. 😅 I was actually rooting on for the office in the dungeon with wifi.... it would be cool to have a monthly series called, Thoughts from the Crypt.... no not cheesey at all, but very creative viewing. But sheesh that was shot down faster than you can say, " is that a Chinese balloon in the...." 🤣
Ian: "Red & green don't go together" Me: "Have you never seen Christmas?" I also liked "Vlogs from the Crypt" & Ian the crypt keeper... The Hobbit Shire Nursery was also a good idea!
@Marsha Wargo Right? My first thought when he said that was "Um, color wheel?" But he got points for the "little Hobbits-Shire theme." And also for the impersonation of the picky baby saying, "I am NOT sleeping in this room!"
@marshawargo7238 yeah, maybe they'll rethink the vlogs/thoughts from the crypt idea. It could add a different variety to their show. Especially if they do monthly haunted stories from the area. Not cheese at. I'd watch a storytime vlog of haunted stories done from an actual palace-like dungeon such as there's. Go Ian!
Go with the Shire themed room. There are tons of woodland/tree wallpapers for the walls and clouds for the ceiling around. It can be the Enchanted Forest room.
Have you considered doing a mural of some kind on the walls in the nursery? Something that plays to the chateau perhaps? And OMG your little sister is so freaking cute Daphne, I need to get married....LOL
I just love your videos. Real life partners trying to figure things out. I would keep the nursery light in color and add special touches with toys and decorations. But that’s what I would do. You guys do you and I’m sure what ever you pick will be beautiful. 😊😊
Hi Guys, A Fandeck Is what you need. You can probably get this from a paint company you tend to use. The one we tend to use is from Sherwin Williams but they all have them. It will have every single color that a paint company makes nicely arranged. You can take it along as you go to use for making choices. This is what we use in my furniture shop for customers doing painted furniture and cabinets. Best, Brian
That was so cute! I vote for a sky blue nursery and you can put pretty paintings on the walls. You guys are funny with the green paint conversation (one I’d never have with my husband who doesn’t like green at all). The garden is looking good - have you made decisions on the fruit trees yet? I loved the little trip to Montmartre - it’s one of my favorite places in Paris.
You both make me smile. My husband and I had a pact 35 years ago when we got married.I do the decorating inside and he handles the garage and basement no questions ask on any colors.LOL
Have you heard of Anaglypta wallpaper? It's divine for covering imperfect walls. It looks like 'tin ceiling' because it's embossed and comes in many different designs. It's also paintable. Transforms a multitude of sins and also look gorgeous!!
Love everything about your channel. The nursery color discussion/editing was very funny. Ian’s sense of humor is very entertaining. Daphne’s voice is so calming and even toned. Look forward to every Sunday afternoon vlog. Maine USA
I would say whatever you do in the nursery it will be stunning. I love watching you both work together. What an amazing place to wake up to each morning!
If it's going to be a nursery, make sure there's a bathroom nearby and put in a couple of rocking chairs. Most visitors prefer to keep their babies in the room with them.
Hi Daphne and Ian, Paint the nursey a light cream color, and then you can add any colors you like, I am partial to greens. Ian the garden shots are just beautiful. Daphane, I am sorry your family has to leave, a trip to Paris was perfect. Now waiting on the bathroom completion, it's going to be beautiful. Love from N.Y.
Ian you make me laugh. Love your humor. Daphne, your laugh is so cute. Little sis is a pretty girl. From a silent watcher and first time commenter from Louisville, Kentucky
I think it’s lovely that they like chatting with each other so much, that they use 1 steamer and do the job together rather than two steamers to expedite the job……AND then offices colors discussion happened……So, we may see 2 steamers in the next room😂 or at least until office color choices are decided😂.
As stewards of this beautiful château, your love and dedication to its upkeep and preservation is heartwarming. Very easily both of you would have taken a different, easier path in life...Congratulations! Totally agree that the drain in the shower project would look better centered. The drain can look centered if a linear drain is installed. Look for “offset linear drain” and it is not only inexpensive and easy to install but looks very nice. Another solution is to raise the shower floor several inches in order to center a new drain with drainage to the existing one. Using a shower pan will work too. I can see the future nursery of your château feeling cozy and welcoming, with light-colored walls like whites, off-whites (light beiges too) and a calming color palette of accessories, pillows, pictures, rugs, curtains, etc. There are gorgeous wallpapers out there to take into consideration. Vertical stripes will make the room seem taller. It’s easier this way for the nursery to be refreshed by changing the accessories and not having to paint all over again. The placement of a handsome, vintage French style armoire centered on the wall (for blankets, linen, etc,), and, anchored by a changing station on one side and a set of shelves (for reading books and toys) on the other side would look fantastic. Organic and comfortable all around…. just lovely! Thank you, Daphne and Ian for brightening up our days with your gorgeous videos!
Your Chateau is absolutely stunning! You guys are doing an incredible job. We recently just bought a Tuscan seaside villa in Italy and it has been a whirlwind so far. We know its a slow process but it's an adventure.
You can both have green …. and red brick and green are very complimentary ….. 🤣 ….. you had me laughing from the bugs to the colors ….. the baby room with low ceilings should be light & creamy - with any decorations making it look less munchkin squished ……❤
I think it'd be SO CUTE if the childrens room is a midnight theme of dark blues with a star/clouds on the ceiling but done is a chateau kinda way. Chateau mixed with Shire theme!!!! I think itd be SO ADORABLE!
Since the nursery has such a low ceiling, better use pale and bright colours , like white or cream and use the same colour on the ceiling for an illusion of hight . You can just get nursery decorative wall stickers, fo a low cost and changeable decorative touch. The feeling of calm and cleanliness is the most important for parents.
Yes! Ceiling and walls should be the same color but the color will have to be lightened because once it’s on the ceiling it will darken and you definitely don’t want that. A mural would be an adorable addition!!! As an artist who used to paint murals, I love that idea!!
Guys. I picked up a tip for you……those cobbles near that barn yard, to keep the weeds and mess from coming back add salt to vinegar solution between the cobbles , less upkeep
That room is adorable, you could put stars on the ceiling and a fairy tale theme with clouds and grass, and little princess and prince beds , I have never seen you two really argue before, the office colors would be nice to do in greens and blues, but in the end it will be beautiful I am sure. There was a movie called the Secret of Moon Acre and the little girls room was just dreamy, you should definitely check it out , the room is really special. It might also be a good idea for the pigeon tower.
For the nursery, you could go with a glittery CREAM colored wallpaper or paint, then just add whatever color (maybe pastel green or pastel yellow) curtains and crib sheets that you choose. By staying with a neutral color wall, you can change the color of the curtains and crib sheets up once in a while. 👍
You could paint the "baby room" like a mural? Blue sky with green grass and butterflies and such. You could even paint the ceiling the same blue and add some clouds to camouflage how low it is? Paint it like a child's finger paint or something like that, so it wouldn't take forever to do. Make it look nice for the brochures later.
I think the garden squares need cypress trees in all four corners of the squares. It would be more symmetrical. Then plant your orchards in the middle and they would be framed by the cypress.

How to tell a real stately home tree - they have the bottom of where the branches start all on one level. So go up the trunk to a certain height and then cut all the branches below that, so that the bottom branches are all level or flat, if that makes sense.
You know, there's no rule that says you BOTH can't have green offices! Look at Anna and Philip's chateau green all around! Some flat paint, some wallpaper, different shades, green for everyone! :)
Hey Guys ! If a nursery. Then calm open colours is the go. Plenty of visuals as it will create a calm and interesting room. Think also about the lighting you would want and where the power outlets are situated. Looking great guys🙌
Great work you two may I suggest for the nursery a Woodland theme, would suit the Chateau... great tree trimming ... greens and yellows is good for nursery cues the brain to relax
Hahaha...so funny with your banter! Colours can be a real bone for contention! LOL 🤣Apart from that...things are taking shape and including some wonderful shapes on the garden! That nursery room sounds like it's going to be full-on creche with babies galore! I think your idea of hiding the change station in the little wardrobe is a great one. Also, perhaps you could mix green and blue by doing a horizontal line around the room (blue sky, green fields and hand paint some flowers and hobbit houses on the walls??? Then everyone would be happy...right? Just a thought...gros bisous 🤗🥰😘💖
Love the idea of the nursery room. But you also need to include 1 or 2 rocker/recliner chairs for nursing in private. Somewhere private to sneak away to to feed your bub and change them and calm them. And i would do 1 single kids bed too for slightly older children that cant make the full night. I went to a wedding with a baby and that would have been wonderful.
Green goes with every colour, it is just a matter of shade. Have fun choosing. I believe inundations of bugs is a normal part of chateau life. Especially as they hibernate during winter. I wonder if it is because there are no fly screens. Best wishes.
Another great vlog and your jokes are hilarious. I grew up as an English girl in the French Acadian area of New Brunswick , Canada. Whenever we wanted to refer to a "thing" we used the frano-anglo slang expression "pa ting". Basically it is the abbreviated version of Petit Thing. I still use it today. Cheers from Toronto
every time I hear someone discuss the shade of yellow, I'm immediately reminded of my boyfriend's hydration chart in the men's bathroom where he works. It has on the top, "How hydrated are you according to the color of your urine". 🤣 it's posted above the urinal, lol. Apparently his boss instructed maintenance to paint his office yellow, the guys asked which shade, THAT'S when he happened to overhear and he immediately got the poster and showed his boss to pick a shade. The boss's office is painted white. LOL
Omg! I so loved this video!!!! When I saw Sacré Coeur I literally squealed with joy. As I’ve said in past commentary, I got to go for the first time last October and I was beside myself with GIDDY joy for the entire 10 days! Viva le France!♥️♥️
