Let’s say you want to show 4 lines to your in-person congregation and 2 for the lower third on the live-stream? How can you do that in Pro7?
It’s not immediately obvious, but I’ll give you an overview. Paste the four lines into the notes area of two slide. In the regular text box, put the first two lines on one slide and the third and fourth on the second slide.
Now, we need to make two themes. Make a lower third theme for the live-stream. We’re going to apply this to the slides on the slide layer, so that we change slides more frequently.
The magic happens when you create the in-person theme which shows the notes area and NOT the main text.
For that theme, you’ll need two text boxes. Format one as if it’s how you want the four line version to look. Now, under the text tab, link the text to current slide then notes.
For the other textbox DO NOT LINK IT. Instead, go to visibility and select that. Select “any of the following” or “all of the following” (it doesn’t matter which). Select “Has no text” for the current slide text. So, that will ONLY display this text box when it doesn’t have text. When it does it won’t.
You have to do this because Pro7 wants to show the text from the main slide on alternate themes…UNLESS YOU TELL IT NOT TO, EXPLICITLY (using the visibility option).
Now, use Looks to apply the audience theme to the main output. Don’t use an alternate theme for the live-stream. That way, you (or the operator) will follow along in the main UI changing twice as often as the audience needs it changed.
One note. This only works if you use the cut or dissolve transitions on the slides layer. If you do something like cube, it will be obvious to the in-person congregation that you’re changing twice for every slide.

It used to not be, but with 7.4 and following, this hack does work.

Ahhh ... so using this method, you cannot have a motion background? And also, how would STAGE DISPLAY work? I would want the 4 lines to be on Stage Display. An even better question ... has ProPresenter created an easier way to do this in 2024? It's got to be! It's good to know this way ... but very convoluted and cumbersome.

For stage screen, you can display the notes only. So, that’s not an issue.
You could ALWAYS put a background in. I didn’t show that b/c most people were using the 2-line version for lower thirds over a video.
There isn’t an easier way to do this (different number of lines in different screens) yet.

Thanks for the video. We use the windows version and the issue we have is that there is no alignment setting for text entered into slide notes so it is all left aligned. How did you get your text in slide notes to be centred?
Ticking the retain formatting option for slide notes means that any alignment setting your apply to the text box in the template is ignored.
We have had to manually add spaces to create the illusion of it being centered.
    Any thoughts?

In Propresenter 7, sometimes I want less space between lines than the letter height of previous line. How can I adjust the line space?

YES! Go into the editor, select the textbox and then under text, click the gear icon. Line spacing is in there.

This is good, but I'm using my Slide Notes for chords. Is there another way to do this, or another way to display chords?

I'd add the chord charts as a PDF (formatted in a way that makes sense). The PDF chord chart feature is made just for this.

Can the 4-line look have a background applied to it? It doesn't look like you can set a background in the Notes section.

If it's a still, you could put it in the theme you create that displays the notes instead of the main text.
