  • This is a product review of APEC's " Top Tier - Built in USA - Ultra Safe, Premium 5-Stage Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filter System (ROES-50)". I have been using it for over a month now and am really liking it. We were unsure of the quality of our water. We tested our water and found that some of the levels of metals were high so we decided to cut it all out! If you have any questions please leave them in the comments below. Want to see where you can buy this filter system? check out this Amazon.com link amzn.com/B00I0... . I hope that helped, see you later internet!

    Con, It wastes a lot of water. It is because it uses Reverse Osmosis. I did an experiment, and it wasted about 5 gallon of water after I filled a 10 cup Coffee pot. I had the drain pipe attached to a pot after i noticed strange increase in my water bill. I also had it hooked up to my frig for water and ice.

      this is false unless the stage 4 and 5 filters are getting old. Change the filters and the back-flow to the drain stops. We just lived this fix. The system has been going for years and we have changed filters regularly except we were a little late on #4 and #5. All filters are really simple and easy to swap out.

    Does that filter convert your water into alcohol? You sounded a little drunk :-) Good review. My zero water filter works great for about 2 weeks before it starts to taste like a fish tank. Need something new.

    Teflon tape contains Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), also known as C8 which studies have suggested an increased risk of testicular cancer with increased PFOA exposure. Studies have also suggested possible links to kidney cancer and thyroid cancer. APEC should find an alternative method for wrapping.

    • @TRYtoHELPyou
      @TRYtoHELPyou  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well.... dont know if this matters to you but fluoride is added to many water systems in the US. That atom is what the molecule you mention above is largely comprised of. wanna talk creepy? look at the following link pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/fluoride#section=Top
      Anyway, you mention "studies have suggested an increased risk..." yet you dont directly provide them. This makes what you say have less weight. Please link legitimate references and i will gladly look into it.
      While i understand there may be a reason for APEC to consider alternatives, to focus on just that portion of teflon tape and not the entire system itself [including the delivered-to-the-home water] is incomplete at best. (o-rings composition, any peltroleum based applicant on them.. inner filter composition of fibers, etc.) What i have found is this filter system cuts down on the dissolved solids greatly. That is why i bought the filter.
      Here is a related link that i was able to find from a .gov site toxtown.nlm.nih.gov/text_version/chemicals.php?id=94

      Do you really think that Teflon tape used today actually contains pfoa??
      Teflon tape doesn't actually use PFOS/PFOA anymore .. rest assured you'll be okay ..
      I used to sample for this compound as my previous job among many other compounds. I couldn't even shower the morning of or use deodorant in fear of getting a false positive..lol!

    Teflon tape was never meant to be a thread sealer. Teflon tape is a thread lubricant. Take it from a guy that has been in the power plant trades (Commercial refrigeration, steam boilers, HW boilers, and everything related), you need to use thread sealer, and the teflon tape can be tossed into the garbage. I love just about any kind of teflon thread sealer such as Loctite 1527514. Teflon take is nice for black iron thread in conjunction with thread sealing paste. With plastic threads, the tape is useless.

    LUV this review! The guy who installed mine said that it takes 5 gals of water to make 1 gal of RO water; however, after the initial startup, I never hear or see any waste water drain through the drain tube. Is something wrong?

    • @TRYtoHELPyou
      @TRYtoHELPyou  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      tks for the good words, na id say its working. I think it does a flush of the membrane filter at some point. Will sound like its running a lot. but initially it barely has any waste. I do hear that there is a lot of waste water from these, but that is also the case with a lot of what we do. All that laundry and shower water, just down the drain, because we are doing something with it. Drinking clean water is definitely worth it. be sure to change those first three filters every 6 months and the others at their recommended interval. you will see on that first filter how much stuff it scrubs out, its quite different coming out.

    I am trying to figure out why water does not go into the tank. What could be the issue. I have a brand new water tank and I checked the pressure too. It is 5 psi. I had it for 5 years and now I have a headache even though I have replaced almost every damn thing in it. I honestly enjoyed this review.

    • @TRYtoHELPyou
      @TRYtoHELPyou  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm. Thanks for the good words. As for why to your question, possibly the valve is shut or the inlet is clogged? Also, I think there is a diaphragm that may need a look. Finally, 5psi is nothing. We are running at least 30+ on a regular day.

    You really REALLY want to flush the GAC filters before you plumb the entire system up, so you don't shoot all that crap into the RO membranes.
    Even better, put in a bypass drain port so you can pure the GAC filter after you install a new one in the future

    Loved the review, great sense of humor! I've been researching for some time now because my girlfriend and I are moving into a better apartment (house apartment, large cabinet space), well I realize this is more of a permanent connection and I saw that they do sell the "counter top version" on their website... so the issue I have with the counter top version is that we cook a lot and it would take quite possibly an hour just to fill up a pot full of water for example, and these things are more expensive ($30 more) than the under-counter version, go figure.
    Anyhow, questions: *Could you not run the drainage tube into a several gallon container/bucket etc. and dump the water after a few uses? Second, are the fittings, tubes, pieces etc. able to be unscrewed and used again for another home for example? If all of the parts need to be repurchased just so I could move to another location with the setup then It's probably not worth it*. Lastly, I saw someone had zip tied the faucet in a hilarious way around the actual tri-filter cylinder system which worked wonderfully so you can avoid drilling holes, so I suppose they filled their cups/pots under the sink hah.
    Cheers

    I have a Apec RO90 Reverse Osmosis system it has a 4 gallon tank. In the manual it says it takes about 2-3hours to fill the tank. I noticed faucet never stops, water trickles endlessly after 1 hour. Is this normal? wouldnt faucet stop after the tank is emptied since it takes a while to fill the tank/filter water?

    • @TRYtoHELPyou

    • @TRYtoHELPyou

      Perhaps the stuff you were filtering out was making the water more basic (alkaline)? If you want higher alkaline levels I think you have to get an alkalizing system of some sort. Possibly re-test?

    • @TRYtoHELPyou

      Hi there, over time it seems it can. I think when our water pressure drops in winter it happens sometimes. Also, i think we need to replace ALL the filters, its been a while. It mentions something in the troupleshooting about this. Also, you can contact the company. What we do when it seems to be non stop is we just twist the valve at the top of the reservoir tank and then just turn it on when we need to get water.

    Why the system needs a drain line ?

    • @juliosantana2069
      @juliosantana2069 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      they say that the system needs a drain line becouse it seperates the dirty water and the clean water the dirty water goes down the drain and the clean goes to the tank

    Please enlighten me if it's usual to have a connection with the drain pipe and what the purpose is.

    • @TRYtoHELPyou
      @TRYtoHELPyou  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usual? Yes. Answer is about mid way on page 26 in the manual here www.freedrinkingwater.com/support/installation-manual/roes-50

      Thank you for the assistance. I suppose you mean "4. If the waste water flow is somewhat restricted... drained off unhindered." Still seems no clue to why trying utmost kept separated the water supply and sewage systems suddenly got connected or even contacted. Even though RO has excessive pressure, such can't guarantee restricted sewage diffused into the filter system causing hygienic problem. Anyway, forgive or ignore my question if it's too bothering.

    • @TRYtoHELPyou
      @TRYtoHELPyou  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      sorry, as shown in the Adobe app, page 26. As shown at the bottom of the page, page 23... The actual printed page number is 23.. as for this system, the drain at your sink and actual sewage are not the same. Your drain should be separated by an elbow keeping gasses from leeching back into your living area. And actual sewage should be way far down the line from your drain nowhere close to any sort of physical contact. Sewage should not be in your sink drain ever.

    • @hahe3598
      @hahe3598 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem. Wow, it seems that you have a surprisingly actual definition for sewage. Anyway, I try to imagine an explanation for that or another way out. In such case, I got no further question. Your kind assistance is highly appreciated.

      Yes. However it was an adult chipmunk. And the intern chipmunk was the writer and voice actor. So, if you want value and quality such as you see in this video get a chipmunk.

    i saw you tightning the the filter sumps with a wrench i advice you not to do that or youll have a hard time untightning them next time you change the filters spescially the membrane housing a good hand tight is enouph

    • @juliosantana2069
      @juliosantana2069 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jessi Louis yes the wrench came with the system to use but meant to loosen u really don't need the wrench to tighten a good hand tight is good enough

    • @juliosantana2069
      @juliosantana2069 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jessi Louis ok i dont think my children will drown from a small leak on the ro system and im not trying to turn this into an argument just advising aginst tightning the filters to tight

    • @juliosantana2069
      @juliosantana2069 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jessi Louis well im soryy you feel that way and you have a write to that opinion but what im saying is not a theory im saying it from experience

    • @TRYtoHELPyou
      @TRYtoHELPyou  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ihave only used the wrench and it has been easy. hand tight is not enough because the first filter needs to be partially crushed to make a good seal and to get them all to fully seat i need to use the wrench. whatever the case, i suggest following the mfgs directions.
