No more Force than necessary is subjective to personal and situational interpretation. For example I myself had two people physically assault me... I just located one person shoulder and broke the other person's knee... Because I'm a skilled martial artist with more than 30 years experience I got to go to jail even though it was two on one and they were both bigger than I am... It just so happens that I have skills that make me formidable
Sadly, although I personally believe if you attack someone, you get what you deserve, the law does not share this belief and your "subjective" issue is really an "objective" jury issue because if I slap you lightly on the face and you broke my arm, I do believe most juries would "objectively" find that force was more than necessary to defend yourself. Reminds me of wisdom about expert opinions ... which is they are actually just subjective educated opinions based on facts provided on a particular date and time but offered as objective fact. So at the end of the day, they are just another opinion. Since you are trained, as am I, I believe it would be argued you should be held to a higher standard of self-control in how you dispense violence than how other's might ... meaning, the fact that someone "accidentally" got hurt more than you intended when defending yourself is a harder argument to make in your case because your actions are likely more deliberate than accidental. It is a jury question as to what is "objectively reasonable" in each case ... is that subjective? Sure. I don't know all the facts of your case but I'm sympathetic to a two on one argument ... that sucks no matter how you turn it but "jail" makes me think despite doing quite a bit of damage, you pled to a misdemeanor of some sort. If not, perhaps the facts were not great or the risk was too much or the representation was subpar ... I have been around long enough that I no longer guess. Thanks for saying something. We had fun putting these videos together.
If one has had some sort of fight training, I think I would keep that under wraps. Too many ninja movies for a jury to have an objective opinion about the realities of what magicalmartial arts can and cannot do
