Have an 08 Jeep crd grand Cherokee with the Mercedes 3.0 OM642. It’s a great motor. I get 28 mpg hwy. that’s with full time 4x4 and a 5 speed automatic. I haven’t towed a bunch but I’ve pulled 3000 lbs without a sweat.
My ML350 Bluetec towed a 27ft travel trailer (6,500lbs) for a number of years within the Rockies. It humiliated many gas trucks, I towed the same trailer with other trucks too. Kind of a moot point, since production is sold out into the 2023 model. With a dual turbo 4 cylinder, not a 6. Only bright point will be a 9 speed transmission. With diesel selling over twice the price of gas, and DEF production cut back...not a sunny picture.
