This has me thinking what if “getting caught” was the plan the whole time?
What if he wanted to get caught so they WOULD pay him and he could go about his life no longer tied to the “I love my wife and kids” label anymore??
What if Alex wanted the same?
Bc to me that’s the only “reason” to be in public, like they WANTED to get caught.
Eugene(Ariel’s best friend according to ppl) doesn’t talk bc he knows once he starts he would def get sued😅

Ariel isn't only a cast member, but also the interior designer for their office and was even featured in Architectural Digest for both her home and the try guys office renovations. She supported ned when they left buzzfeed even though they were expecting their first child and losing the insurance from the company and ned still had the audacity to cheat on her

Something that has been weighing heavy on my mind since this news broke was thinking back to when they first started the company. Their first office space was literally Ned and Ariel's old house. He was an integral part of getting things going in the beginning, he obviously cared a lot about this. To go from starting the company with your friends and your wife and newborn son to just being willing to throw it all away by cheating in public is so crazy to me. That man needs therapy.

@@sakuranovaryan9261 I think it's important to remember that that feelings do change over time. So I do think at the start he did genuinely care about the Try Guys and keeping things together. Just like I think he genuinely did love his wife. But something changed along the way, and unfortunately instead of handling it dozen other ways, he choose an extremely damaging route.

Also one of the first videos they made after leaving buzzfeed was Ned simulating the entire labor process Ariel went through and making a lot of content about his baby and like "I'm a family man now". Not just CA. So, before anyone thinks this stunt is ok in other places, I want to dispel anyone of that notion. I don’t live in CA and if I did this I would get escorted out. And before anyone screams, it penalizes men - I am a woman. I have seen a woman get canned for getting friendly at a holiday party with a subordinate. Companies don’t want this mess. You want to date a colleague? It better be in another department and it needs to be registered with HR or good bye.

One thing I want to add is that Ariel supported Ned for years in whatever he was doing. He left Buzzfeed when she was pregnant and they lost their health insurance and she still went for it. She stayed home for the kids, she gave up her own career for a good few years so Ned could focus on growing the TryGuys brand and channel. She was pulled into being a part of the brand because of him, first because he would not shut up about her and then as an active part of the channel. This was her livelihood as well and whatever she decides to do, I am sure she won't be returning to the podcasts or the video segments she was a part of. I am guessing they will stop selling their cook book soon. She was able to start working as an interior designer again through Ned but now, if she ever decides to work in the field again, when people search up her name they will find this scandal and the two things she has designed that she is most known for: the TryGuys office and the house she lives(ed?) in with Ned. All tied up with her cheating husband. He completely ruined everything for her when she sacrificed everything for him.

I've never put much stock in astrology but as a Capricorn I felt very called out by Kennie's (correct) assertion that the worst parts to a Capricorn are messing with the $$$ and "if you're going to cheat, at least don't cheat stupidly and make me have to clean up your mess" 1000% accurate. As for why he did it that way- selfishness and cowardice are my guess. Guys like Ned love the positive attention that comes from being "the family man" and "the devoted husband" (Kennie finds it boring but I'm sure some insecure guys starting a family probably looked up to Ned as a role model for how to be a good husband/father and women who felt unappreciated by their own husbands probably loved Ned's seeming devotion- and relayed that to him) but hate the reality of the actual work it takes to make a marriage & family work. The wife starts being a "nag", the kids are loud & annoying, your sex life sucks, work's gotten monotonous, etc. In turn, the idea of having a fiery, new passion-based relationship with a woman who thinks you're great because she's never had to unclog the toilet after you defiled it starts looking better and better. And his selfishness, his "I deserve to be happy no matter what this might do to my family" ego lets him justify the choice to cheat.
The public nature of the cheating I think goes hand-in-hand with the cowardice of Ned not being able to just leave his wife (having mistaken the honeymoon-phase nature of his affair relationship as being "oh, the reason I was unhappy in my marriage is because I made a mistake and married the wrong woman, this new woman is really who my soulmate is and I'm going to leave my wife, marry her, and surely live happily ever after this time") He lacks the spine to just end his marriage so he cheats publicly to force his wife's/his own hand if he's caught. Which of course he immediately backs down from when actually caught, hence his whole "I'm re-focusing on my family" nonsense.

Very late to this, but every time I see Eugene's face in the announcement video, I think of one thing in particular, and that's the Valentine's Day video. In the video, when asked about what he likes the most about Ned, Eugene genuinely and sincerely compliments Ned for having good, family-centered values, and expresses how important he thinks that is for people to see; for people to believe that love is real and marriage is still sacred for some people. And this is coming from Eugene, someone who is pretty openly cynical about love and marriage and all that stuff from being a child of divorce. And then, Ned just goes and shatters the entire Try Guy family. To me, I read his face as absolute hatred, but not just a hatred for destroying all the work they'd done or even for destroying his family, but for making Eugene believe or subscribe to the fact that genuine true love and the sanctity of marriage were real- or at least that they were real and important to Ned. Hell, even fans expressed this feeling of "if someone as obsessed with his family as Ned could do this, then how can I even believe in love anymore?" I don't know if this is how he felt on any level, and I get I'm probably psychoanalyzing this a bit too much, but I just think it's important to acknowledge the unique ways this kind of betrayal effects EVERYONE around you, not just the partner you cheated on.

Alex is as much to blame as Ned is. Ned is married, but Alex was engaged. Both had loyalties to their partners to honour. Regardless of who initiated the relationship with the other, both chose to engage in a romantic, intimate relationship for over a year, with no regard for their families, their friends/coworkers, themselves. Had Ned initiated, Alex could've quit, reported it to HR, she has many avenues to avoid a relationship with him, especially with how close his wife is to the company. If Alex initiated, Ned could've also reported it to HR, told the rest of the team, gave a strong warning to her on her inappropriate behaviour etc. There is no excuse for either of them. Also, people forget Alex's ex- fiancé. They were caught, confronted by the fiancé and they kept going until there was no more hiding it. It's disgraceful and embarrassing. I do hope that Alex's ex (i don't know his name) is doing much better away from her and Ned, and that Ariel is able to come to a conclusion that works for her and those beautiful babies. Whether she stays with Ned or not, whatever benefits the children and allows her to have peace of mind as much as she can is best. God bless them all

Apparently, Ned was the head of the HR department, which makes the situation even more complicated. I'm not defending Alex in this situation, but reporting to HR doesn't seem to have been an option if she wasn't interested in pursuing a relationship with him.

Apparently, ned was the wealthiest of the try guys since he invested the most into the company. Also learned that he was hired as a manager for buzzfeed, not as a comedian or entertainer like the other 3 were, and that he was a pain to work with and that it was his idea for them to leave buzzfeed and start their own company. I remember his story about him quitting med school to go into the entertainment business because he lost interest and wanted to pursue a new path, but now I think there are some details in that story that he left out. I think he failed med school and thought going into entertainment would be so easy for him. He was pissed that Buzzfeed didn't find him entertaining and decided to profit off his wife once he discovered how much people like him mentioning her. Eventually, Buzzfeed received so many complaints about him from so many women that they threaten to fire him, so he convinced the other Try Guys to leave the company for "creative freedom" and create their own company (and that he would handle all of the managerial and hr and business stuff due to his experience as a manager and how much money he has compared to them) so he can profit off their talent and charisma. [The concept of Try Guys was Zach's idea but it was probably Ned's idea to leave Buzzfeed. And for the ladies in STEM, you know exactly what type(s) of guy I am talking when I mention that Ned was in STEM. Yeah, that's right. Ned was a cis straight guy in STEM and declared himself as a science guy.]
I also don't think this was the first time Ned cheated on Ariel and that he has been cheating on her for a long time. Ariel was definitely hurt, but she didn't seem shocked that he was caught cheating. She acted like a wife frustrated with her husband's constant cheating but still has been putting up with it for so many years. This also explains why Ariel felt insecure about being older than Ned (even though she was only 1 year older than him).
A lot of female former Buzzfeed employees got criticized for criticizing Ned, while their male counterparts got praised for do so. A lot of the female Try Guys employees got harassed for being "complicit" or accused of having an affair with Ned while the male employees didn't get that much harassment. YB especially got so much harassment and falsely accused of having an affair with Ned just because she is a non-mixed Asian woman (even after it was confirmed that Ned was having an affair with biracial, half-white, racially ambigious Alex and even after YB implied multiple times that she is no longer friends with Ned and Alex).
There was also no HR at Try Guys, so not only was Ned handling all of the business, financial, and managerial stuff but he was also the HR rep for the company as well.

Your comment isn't...inaccurate but there's a lot of assumptions in there.
A)turns out a lot of (former) Buzzfeed employees didn't even know Ned and even some who did were clearly just cloud chasing
      B) the guys worked so closely together, if there had been soooooo many women complaining, they would at least have heard rumors
      C) if Buzzfeed wanted to let Ned go anyway the negotiations could have been handled very differently
      D) we don't know how Ariel reacted bc we only saw one clip of her weeks after she definitely found out
      E) female Try Guys employees weren't harassed, YB was, which is unfortunate, but she is a) one person and b) a media presence and c) on camera as often as Alex and d) she's asian, makes engagement content and is less forgettable than Alex, yeah it sucks but on paper she's similar to Alex and ppl jumped to conclusions...
Male employees weren't accused of cheating bc Ned is straight and aside from Miles none of them are regularly in front of the camera...

    • @medtle1
      @medtle1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@fentina getting constant questions about the Ned scandal and accused of being complicit about the situation and random people looking you up when you are not a public figure also count as harassment. Getting accused of not telling Ariel earlier just because they work or have worked with him counts as harassment and misinformation.
We cannot accuse every former buzzfeed employee of clout-chasing at ned's expense or being complicit of ned's infidelity at ariel's expense. There is a reason why a lot of the former buzzfeed employees that have worked with Ned were not surprised about the scandal and said he was a pain to work with. If you go back and watch the "why I left buzzfeed" videos, some of the themes that were mentioned (besides crap pay and abuse of interns) was male favoritism and difficulty to move up in the company. Due to the competitive nature buzzfeed set up between their employees, you cannot be surprised if there are former buzzfeed employees that have a grudge against ned. Even the ones that barely knew him kept getting asked about the scandal online.

I know im going to sound a bit crazy but this is my conspiracy/prediction as to how Ned is going to explain his side of “what happened”. I know this is gonna be wordy, but stay with me. The answer is so clear i feel like when it happens the world is gonna roll their eyes so far back into their heads that we might collectively rewind time but to just get into it, its gonna be the same reason given by Jay-Z as to why he cheated on Beyonce. “My life was going so perfect and I had everything I just fell into the path of self destruction” or “My life was cookie cutter that it felt boring” ORRR “ “The stress/anxiety of just all these good things happening to me I was looking for relief/way out/fell into a path of self destruction”. Hes going to tell us that it wasnt Ariels or the kids fault and that its all on him and that all of those emotions he had felt he should have spoken to his spouse or a friend so that he can garner the sympathy and try to make people question Ariel/Try guys support. When he gets to Alex he’s gonna tell us that he wasnt really attracted to her she was just “new” and “fun” and what they had was a friendship but as their bond grew closer he felt he could relate to her on a “simple” level but one day one thing lead to another and they had made a mistake they couldnt come back from and due to those previously listed “excuse” from the beginning he decided to just take the plunge and not come back. He will tell us that he does not excuse the damage he cause to his friends, the company, to alex but most importantly his family but he is only human and the mistakes he made helped him grow and see from a different perspective. He’s going to continue to “grow and change” and he’s not asking for forgiveness cause he knows he doesnt deserve it, but is telling us he is sorry. Like this sounds CRAZYY but doesnt this feel like the exact script hes gonna give us? Like WE KNOW what hes going to say, all them cheaters say the same thing ESPECIALLY the yt guys ngl. Anyways.. let me know if im crazy or not (i know i kinda am tho... but its not the job of my wife n kids to fix me.. its mine😢)

The only answer to the question of why Ned would do this I can think of is that he has privileged white man syndrome. Knowing how white men are treated with kiddy gloves whenever they do something wrong it's very possible he just did not think it would fall back on him. It's possible that he has gone through life without his actions being scrutinized by others (unlike how many minorities are judged when they go out in public so they have to be very aware of how they are perceived) so he thought he could just slink around and no one would notice what he was doing.
It is truly mind boggling how much white men like this think they can get away with, but they only think that because most of the time they do get away with it. Thinking about how things went with Harvey Weinstein and other powerful men that hurt others for years and no one did anything because of their position, if Ned had done this at almost any other company it's very possible he would not have gotten in trouble. The company would care more about the money they already invested in him and the money he could still bring in that they would have covered up the whole affair to avoid a scandal and keep him on. Obviously, the other Try Guys have more integrity than that and did hold him accountable, but in almost any other situation Ned would not have gotten in trouble because in a white supremacist patriarchy like ours, white men are often just not punished like that.

The difference was that Eugene talked about how Matt wasn't a Valentines type of person, which was why he was making something for the dogs instead, but Ned's reasoning was that something for Wes was basically the same as something for Ariel. A lot of people in the comments actually picked up on that, and said that Ned shouldn't just be seeing Ariel as "Wes' Mom."

Like yeah I thought I was doing a good job. Even when she was staying home I came home and cooked I cleaned I did my own laundry and ironed my own shirts. But turns out there was like so much she was doing that just went over my head. Even now that we’re striving for 50/50 and I’m trying my hardest, it’s probably more like 60/40 if I’m being generous to myself. And I don’t want that. I’m trying not to hide behind “she’s just better at it than me.” Because that’s such a cop out. I know a man who’s raised 9 kids by himself + grand kids. If he can do it why can’t I? I feel so bad for Ariel as a person who was so gallingly disrespected, a wife so hurt by someone she loves and as a mother who has to worry about how this impacts her kids. But one thing that I don’t hear talked about a lot is the fact that Ned absolutely financially screwed her, not just himself and the Try Guys. Ned made the stupid decision to tie his whole professional persona to her and then cheat (incredibly, bafflingly recklessly), but her work in content creation is so entangled in that. And now he’s out of the company, she’s almost certainly lost the podcast, their cookbook/lifestyle brand thing is dead, etc. He mortgaged their house to start this business and then he torched it because he couldn’t respect her enough to tell her he was unhappy and couldn’t keep it in his pants around an employee.

Keith being on your meant that he couldn’t talk about the situation or confide in ANYONE he was travelling with-he spent so much of what should have been a fun venture stressed and wondering how this situation was going to hurt them and Lewburger’s.
Zach’s whole days became dealing with this shit, meaning he sacrificed his physical health and multiple creative projects to make sure things were being handled properly. (I don’t have examples for Eugene because he hasn’t shared anything, but I assume he experienced similar struggles.)

The last few minutes of your video hit hard. My dad cheated on my mom when I was little. My "family" ended when he cheated. And the questions you asked at the end are the questions that plagued my childhood well into my teens. I told myself that clearly we meant nothing to him if we meant less than the thrill of cheating. Like, our entire family, who we were, me as his child, it was all worth the gamble. I was three when my dad cheated, and it was everyone's conversation my entire childhood. Ned's kids WILL know, his kids will question their worth for a very very long time. F this man!

I feel you, I was also 3 when my parents got divorced because my dad had been cheating. Not only all of what you said but also being biologically related to your parents when this happens can cause huge existential crisis for a child. Being told "Oh you're just like your father/you look just like your father." Goes from being a sweet message to being something you hate yourself for because of what HE did not you. My parents divorcing was absolutely for the best but they still said awful things about each other that hurt me so deeply being in the middle of. To them they were talking about their ex but to me they're talking about my mom or my dad that I can't help but share similarities with. Existential crisis and self hate abound! The stuff you mentioned also contributing to that! I'm 23 now and it STILL messes me up. To remember how much of my childhood was ruined because my dad just truly didn't care. It's so fucked up and the added fact this is a big public viral thing is an added factor that I thankfully can't relate to, I can't even begin to understand how it'll effect the kids mentally, just that it'll stay with them

I hope Ariel leaves him because my mom decided to stay in a toxic/abusive relationship with my father for more than 20 years and I've seen firsthand how incompatible spouses affect the children and the person being cheated on mental wellbeing. I like how Kennie described cheating as an act of hate because it honestly is. The first time I found out my dad was cheating was when I was 11 and the whole time I didn't think it was true then I found out again when I was 20 and both times I told my mother who disregarded it. I found out that my dad was basically cheating on my mom throughout their entire relationship he doesn't do shit to help her pay the bills. Doesn't want to get a second job, nothing he even had the audacity to say to her that he didnt care if they lost the house because my mom was working so hard to pay off the mortgage and basically buy everything for the house that she wanted to take a few months off work to relax. How evil can you be??? He even uses her card to buy groceries and put gas in the cars. He says he doesn't have money when I literally saw that he had a brand new watch. She would always say she's staying in the relationship because of us but I honestly dont feel that is true because she's so much better than him. I think she is just scared to be alone. But good news is is that they're FINALLY splitting for good......hopefully she goes through with it ...... Bottom line is, Ariel needs to leave for the sake of her kids mental health and her own because I dont think you can "work this out" especially since he was so nonchalant about it

Ned being the least favorite try guy 10000% influenced his decisions, I fear. Like he's just one of those people who do not have a personality, and kind of just exist. He's not terrible to hang out with, and he has a sense of humor but he is definitely the npc of the party. I think he definitely knew that and probably didnt think that The Try Guys would ever become something when he participated in those Buzzfeed videos. I think they grew so fast and were unprepared for how likable they were perceived to be and he didn't have anything else but the fact that he was the first one married. To me, honestly, it's like he almost used that over the other guys to obviously make up for his own personal insecurities. Eugene is taller, has better hair, and is just seemingly good at every task handed to him? "Well, I'm married. You're not." Keith is the funniest and quick witted one, with a deeper more sultry voice? "Well, I'm married. You're not." Zach is the quirky, sassy one who brings the most heart? "Well, I'm married. You're not." It's like he used his marriage to compensate for his lack of individuality and used it as a trophy that he was the first and only, for a while, to have acquired. I think that with Eugene coming out and bringing in a lot of new subs and views, and with Keith have being married for a few years now, Zach and Eugene both getting very close to settling down and getting married soon, mixed with the knowledge that he is probably the last ranked in relatability and likeability, Ariel now having her time taken up by business and especially the two kids, just snapped and saw a way to feel desired again. Even now, I feel like he's relishing in the fact that a lot of people are talking about him for the first time and know his name, even if it's in a negative light. I think feeling desired by Alex, him depraved for attention, made him so reckless and nonchalant. Not to mention the power that comes along with the obvious bank they make. He probably was living on cloud nine, thin ki ing rhat he would get away with it, the fear of getting caught adding to make the affaur more enticing. Mix all of that together, and you have a desperate and greedy man ready to do anything to still feel needed and attractive.

Someone mentioned how you rarely hear Ned say "Ariel". He always says "my wife". A sign of a cheater is when they never call their partner by name because they're scared they'll call the wrong person. I thought that was pretty interesting since my ex did the same kind of things Ned did--cheated, never called my name, made me his personality. This scandal, specifically the comment relating to the scandal, really took me back.

And by contrast, Keith always refers to Becky as "Becky." She is her own person, not an extension of him.

I never picked up on that! I’m aware of that kind of distancing language in the context of forensics- ie. If a suspect says ‘the girl’, or ‘that girl’ instead of calling a victim by name that’s a dead giveaway. It’s a way of psychologically and emotionally distancing yourself from seeing another person as a human being- and describing them like you would an object.

@@susanmclare I just thought of Bill Clinton saying "I did not have sexual relations with _that woman_ " which has the same vibe

My problem with the "consensual workplace relationship" bit is that Ned CANNOT be 100% certain that it was entirely consensual. He was her BOSS, and the unequal power dynamic may have affected her decision-making process. Like Kennie said, he signed her paychecks. He had some say on how much exposure she gets on the channel and what kind of work she gets. One could say that there is NO way the relationship was consensual.

I was admittedly surprised, but my partner wasn't when I told him. He said Ned always seemed like he was trying too hard to push the story that he had the perfect life, perfect wife, perfect kids, etc. He said Ned, of the four, seemed like the one most likely to cheat.
Another commenter pointed it out on another video, but Eugene also lived through his parents' messy divorce, and really likes Ned's kids, so I'm sure he was also angry for them as someone who's been through that.

@Bla Bla they are literally best friends. They call each other one of their best friends. It’s sooo sad
