      @@TheMarizzca That’s how lie detector tests work. When you get caught in a stressful situation a lie causes your shit to spike, heart rate and all that. That’s why they’re no longer admissible in court but are still fun.

      @@TheMarizzca Also, to note, the lie detector guy they hired usually twist the interpretation of the polygraph results so it fits the content better. So it’s possible that he really doesn’t believe that’s the case and the lie detector guy just thought it would make for better reactions; maybe he was instructed to do so or just do it so that he’ll get hired more.

    The most interesting thing about the lie detector episodes: polygraph tests don't actually tell if you're lying. They track multiple measures of stress that show up in most humans. Some people *can't* take polygraphs because, for physiological reasons, they're useless (people with heartrates that vary wildly, people with naturally high anxiety, etc).
    Ned having a reaction to the "do you think you have a better marriage than Keith" may not even be about his response to the question. Instead, it's a physiological response to a question getting close to the GIANT SECRET he's hiding.

    • @Maxwell2512
      @Maxwell2512 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +128

      huh, I always wondered about this because I feel like being nervous dosent make someone a liar so I didnt think polygraphs were fair, I'd probably fail any polygraph because I have anxiety lol, I'm always nervous.
      And also liars can be super calm and collected, depends on the person.
      And just like you said someone might get nervous while deciding whether to lie or not, and not pass even if they decide to tell the truth.

    • @YourXavier
      @YourXavier 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +62

      Very true. E.g. worrying about how other people might react to your answer could produce the same kind of response as worrying about lying would.
      It's a stress detector, not a lie detector.

      Thankfully they aren’t admissible as solid evidence in court. It can be brought up if the judge allows but it is not allowed to be expressed as solid evidence of lying or guilt. I once took one for a school demonstration thing we each got to do and try to trick the test and I was so anxious it said I lied about my actual name, twice. So all my results were that I was lying lol. Dude commented at one point my heart rate got up to 130bpm (my normal is about 105, which he was also surprised by)

    • @couch_philosoph3325
      @couch_philosoph3325 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Its possible he actually talked this much about his wife just because he is anxiously attached. He was the wife guy before cheating on her. Honestly, I don't think she cares. It's about the adrenaline, the chase, and the hit to her pride when someone turned her down. That's also why she still tried to go through with marrying her fiance while cheating on him; she was never really planning on leaving her current fiance for anyone she was cheating with, it was just about the thrill of it.

      You are not wrong to think that it’s unusual. It is not widely used and it can be considered kind of cheesy depending on the context. People say it to convey the shared responsibility of pregnancy, instead of putting it all on the woman. I think most people say “we’re expecting.” But I don’t have exact data on the numbers 😂

    This only showed me to continue to be terrified of relationships. It doesn’t matter how well they treat you, they’ll still hurt you.

      It's true you might get hurt a few times since you might learn what matters to you in a relationship as you go, but if you iron out what's important to you and find someone with the same values who is compatible with you and generally shares your outlook on life you can be very happy for many years :)
      It takes effort, but if both you and your partner are willing to put in the work, you can maintain a happy relationship
      And if you do get hurt along the way, you will move on

    I just checked Instagram and I saw that Alexandria follows Ariel but Ariel doesn't follow her back.

    I spoke with a psychologist about men with big egos (mind you, this was about men. We didn't talk about women).
    Ned went to Yale, has a degree in chemistry, worked in a chemistry lab, worked at a renewable energy lab, became a very large figure at Buzzfeed who claimed to have cast several large talents, became a star on the Try Guys. had a "picturesque" wife and family. Ned had a BIG ego. Men with BIG egos need to constantly have their egos fed. If they don't have them fed, then they can often turn to infidelity to feed their MASSIVE egos because they aren't being satisfied at home. Ned perfectly fits the description of someone who couldn't be satisfied, so he had to go get his ego served elsewhere. It was never going to be enough for him.

    I appreciate the interaction vibes on hindsight, like the guys (z,k,e) appear to know or at least suspect but they kept the banter within a level where you may notice but as a casual veiwer you wouldnt be like "hes a total asshat"

    Ned's Squidward-esque laugh hurts to hear now because we now know what he hid behind that nervous laughter. And him almost doubting every answer in the lie detector test should have been very suspicious at that point in time.

    I now feel bad for every time I compared my dad to Ned (they have the same nose, the same hair, just the same face in general, they’re both suburban white dads and they kinda move and talk the same) because my dad is legitimately really devoted to my stepmom (no cheating took place!!!)
