When you know Debussy is a genius: 3:46 and 4:40 are both beautiful parts of the 2nd movement but they're just separate parts right? Nope listen to 5:39 THEY'RE HARMONY TO EACH OTHER mind = blown
There's something interesting about this interpretation of Petite Suite: the first movement sounds lethargic and sleepy, almost as if the pianists fell asleep on their bench, and is almost impossible to listen to, but the pace rapidly picks up and Ballet is played with such sublime alacrity that it feels as if the pianists were injected with ammonium sulfide; first movement is a 2/10 but last movement is a solid 10.
The one criticism I have is that the staccatos were far too marked in "En Bateau". As my piano teacher said, "There's no jumping around in a boat." In my opinion, it should be less sharp.
Du Debussy de jeunesse mais déjà incroyablement délicat et évocateur.
This is the best interpretation of Petite Suite for me. Thanks for share it.
I learned the Menuet from this Suite with a friend a while ago. It was so much fun to play!

What are the paintings please?
Emile Albert Gruppé (1896-1978)
Debussy composed this when he was 24.
I drew a giraffe and won a drawing competition in the Saturday West newspaper when I was 7.
+Blahblahblah Blah I'm not sure your giraffe will be remember 100 years later. However, bravo for winning the competition. ;)
Blahblahblah Blah .. and?

Well, you don't exactly know for sure that it was jumping in the boat. It might have been fish jumping along side of the boat or maybe the winds.
+Jodabomb24 I think of flickering light and the sprinkling of water on the oars of the boat, so staccatos make sense to me.
People's different interpretations joy me sometimes. :D
Same, if anything I think the stocattos should be marked lighter
I agree. According to my piano teacher, "French staccatos are very different than for example, Beethoven's staccatos. They should be more 'elastic.'"
This is the best interpretation existing on TH-cam, but unfortunatly the record's quality is mediocre.
This was all played far too fast for my taste! Slowing down helps to articulate the phrases and let's the melody shine more.
heh one of the key's sharp D:
Un po' veloce
