Flow meter is a device that measures the flow of either liquids or gases.
Mass flow rate is a measure of the number of molecules that flow through the instrument, regardless of how much space those molecules occupy
Volumetric flow rate is a measure of the 3-dimensional space that the gas occupies as it flows through the instrument under the measured pressure and temperature conditions. Volumetric flow rate can also be called actual flow rate
Simply put, the mass flow rate is the WEIGHT of the sample, while the volumetric flow rate is the SIZE of the sample
Mass flow mwetres measures the number of molecules in a medium that flows through a point, whereas volumetric flow metres measures the space that those molecules occupy
