I saw a mini documentary about the construction of those "trees" and they are a full habitat for several types of birds and small creatures of several kinds. Its is its own ecosystem. The program was showing ways that Urban development and the animals that live within can coexist. Habitat is provided rather than driving them away and in turn probably contributing to their extinction. The "trees" also provide cooling for the city. Pavement increases the heat index in a city by a lot...Phoenix anyone? I would love to visit Singapore. I would just eat all the time. So many different cultures meeting and so much great food choices.
The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple is both a religious site and a cultural attraction. Worshippers are used to people walking around and taking pictures. It has 5 stories and a basement: 1. Ground Floor: A prayer hall with a large Maitreya Buddha statue 2. Second Floor (mezzanine): A library for studying Buddhist teachings. 3. Third Floor: A museum displaying Buddhist relics and artifacts. 4. Fourth Floor: The sacred Buddha Tooth Relic is housed here in a golden stupa. 5. Rooftop: Features a pagoda, garden, and prayer wheel. 6. Basement: canteen serving vegetarian meals.
you crack me up, it should be a short 15 hours... lol oh gosh, Singapore is definitely on my list, but I don't know if I can muster up the flight-time being from the interior Midwest.. and you just getting back from Hong Kong.. lord have mercy.
It is a LONG flight I cannot lie...especially if you are connecting. When I non-reved with my family we flew to SFO the day before and spent the day in SF to split up the long travel day!
