There is this spot, deep down in the pit of my soul, that felt Bison's pain. However, there is this smile, several inches wide, that both respects and fears Guy.
@Realmasterorder Guy's EX run has hyper armor, meaning it can absorb two hits. Additionally, his EX sudden stop after the run can absorb an additional hit.
That ending was GOLDEN. Just how much armour does that EX run have anyway? lol I haven't seen enough Guys to say that this is the best in the world but it certainly is quite impressive. Sweet mixups and follow-throughs. Dictator was good, too. Solid combos and nice safe pressure with those Scissor Kicks but the armoured run dealt with that eventually, lol. Well done both fighters. A very entertaining display. ^_^
The Guy/Bison matchup drives me nutty. Bison's normals pretty much shut down Guy's standard footsies approaches (at least they do for me). His footspeed makes drop elbows miss and leave you vulnerable to walk-under/dash-under throws. He's also able to EX headstomp or teleport out of wakeup pressure. He's just damned hard to pin down.
Ah yeah, I looked into it again, and you're right. The only explanation I can think of, is that level 3 works pretty good against mashing opponents, since if the unblockable is timed right (right after dizzy recovery) it resets the damage scale. Or it just might be an impulsive action, they might think there isn't time to make space for a jump-in, or they're afraid they'll miss a link. I don't know, I personally don't FA on a dizzy, I like to build meter.
Nice set, very even. Watched this mostly for Neurosis as a Bison player, but Otaku's Guy impressed me as well. I might have to give him a try in Arcade Edition. The buff to EX Run -> Stop looks pretty hot.
If there is a true best Guy player in the world, they will come out to disprove the statement. But this is Legendary Otaku we're talking about. One of the pioneers of AE Guy alongside players like Fuji and Kiyo, inventing the majority of his mixup strategies and setups, and having immense matchup knowledge. If top players like Tokido consider him a solid player, that's already saying something.
@kosthoj thats not armor cancel. the properties on his ex run is 2 armor for the run and one armor for the stop run. he's just really good with his timing, that whatever he got hit with would have been absorbed
@SpotATrain anymore footage of this guy or anymore info so i can follow him i'm beyond interested i main guy and i love him he has the ability to beat nyonme in the right hands and i love studying the best and if he is better than kiryu then i gotta get hours of footage of him in action
@Realmasterorder Its a technique that you cancel your "kara" motion from your attac, so you'll absorv twice , from your first move and your second. All characters that has an absorve move can do this: Zangief, Balrog, Abel, etc
The way damage scaling works is it counts the number of attacks you threw in, so it doesn't matter how much damage the FA does, the follow-up combo is scaled the same way. Level 3 FA does 140 damage, whereas level 2 only does 80.
SHIT! the ending was sooooo sick. Can someone please tell me how L. Otaku's Guy absorbed which what i believe was THREE hits then ultra'd his ass? that was unreaaalll. I'm amazed that people are THIS good at ssf4. If anyone could clarify that'd be just swell.
now hold on a second... In what universe does M. Bison is called VEGA like in the selection screen of this video? wtf? it is a hacked version? Vega is my favorite character since I played SF2 on my SNES so, me and Madre España demand an answer now
Those are some good matches, I wish capcom would make fighting games with more characters like guy...Its cool to see some good mix ups instead the cheese spam that most of the original SF2 fighters rely on...Guy could hold his own with the third strikers any day.
Bison/Vega looked good but as I wasnt sure who was the "Legend". I did think Guy was exceptional from the very first combos and the move at the end, well that is poetry right there. Ive never seen an ex-run counter TWO hits from a flying kneepress that was obviously what it was designed for and it played out perfectly. I really appreciate a high level fight.
@monkeywolf What do you mean by invented? As if to say he created combos and links in the game that Capcom didn't assign to Guy, I'm sure that's not what you mean because that doesn't sound sensible. And I don't believe he inspired Kiryu because the most recognized Guy is neither of the two. It's Kiyo from SFA 3 and luckily the video of him beating up on Daigo is up now on the in "Suggestions" section. Sorry, Otaku can be a legendary if he wants but Kiryu is better player. That's what most say
I main guy and second Vega this match up is really hard for guy because all his moves r risky Vega has a very good chip game and throw game guy is a mix up and rush character wht weakness does Vega have any ideas? I've been trying to figure out Vega natural weakness as a character more so than my own weaknesses
When someone gets dizzy, why do they always do a level three focus attack (high damage, crumple, focus-piercing, lower damage with follow-up combo)? Why not do a level two focus attack (moderate damage, crumple, better damage with follow-up combo)? When you're dizzy, they can't focus so there's no need for a level three focus attack.
@63rudeboy He's named differently depending on where you live. He was vega, Vega was balrog, Balgrog was M. Bison (mike bison) - they switched things around to avoid lawsuits.
guy vs bison is arguably 7-3 in bisons favor, his pokes and pressure are safe while guy has to take risks. the thing is even when guy scores the knock down, bison has SO many reversals that not even option selecting will cover all of them. He ALWAYS has a way out. So really the matchup revolves around cracking the bison player mentally and make them paranoid of your risk taking and then punishing. Which is very difficult if they know that all they have to do is stay calm and bison on
I don't know about using a focus attack that hits right after the dizzy ends. Too risky: they could pop an super/ultra, focus-breaking attack, use a two-hit attack, jump/teleport away, etc. I'd rather do a level two focus attack and follow-up with a nice combo.
@straightab6 Second after Legendary Otaku, it's the consensus in Japan from all the top players, including Tokido that Otaku is best Guy out there, better than Kiryu... He recently played 400 games, and went 396 - 4 against good players.
in Japan SF4 still shows Roman letters but with the Japanese Native names for Vega/Bison/Balrog...therefore when the title of a video pops up and you see Neurosis (Vega) vs so-and-so naturally the first character that would pop up in your head is Claw, and for Japanese people Dictator. if SF4 didnt have this problem (and i do believe the older titles like SF2 and 3S had this problem also), then we wouldnt have to differentiate between the 3 characters.
@Realmasterorder the second hit wasabsorbed cuz he started the ultra otherwise, if it was just EX wouldnt absorb it after the second hit. One can do that similar with balrog too. (my experience)
Is this in the arcade because mine does not say "Arcade Edition" sup with that? This guy is good but he isn't the best I've seen though. Nothing amazing here, however he is a damn good player.
Another thing Guy can do to beat the scissors kick is crouching mk. It beats it if it's timed right and timing is not THAT strict. They can bait it but its something to put out there from time to time.
Originally, Mike Bison is a parody of Mike Tyson. Capcom USA didn't like that. So they swapped his name with other characters. The original name of Dictator is Vega. and Balrog is the Claw (Bullfighter)
There is a way to deal with it with Guy. Far medium kick stuffs it if he tries to do a second one immediately after. It won't beat it if blocked, but it puts a damper on scissor kick spam. I use this all the time. And the EX version isn't safe, of course. Can always counter that with cr. LK, st. MP, EX hozanto, etc. Otaku wasn't using st. MK as he should have.
originally in japan balrog was m.bison to make the name look like m.tyson(mike tyson) vega was originally balrog and bison was originally vega but when they brought the game to america they switched the name from m.bison to balrog because they were scared if mike tyson would sue them.
I come back to your video like once a year for what feels like the past decade. Incredible match
I'm glad I'm not the only one. This stuff feels low-key inspiring for some reason. It was indeed, some good matches.
OH MY GOD THAT FINISH AT THE END!!!
HOLY MOLY LOL
JerrytheBaum guacamole
That ultra at the end though...
Holy cow, that last match was brutal .. especially the timing for getting off the ultra.
how do you upload a 240p video any time after 2008?
I'm just happy it's on the Internet and made public
You select 240 p
this match is like a favorite song you come back to every so often, it never ceases to amaze me
yep, true even 9 years later!!
My god, I love that last match! I play Guy a little, but that last "Combo" looks pretty hard!
damn I can't believe he pulled that off!!! BEAST
Holy crap he focused and used the hyper armor from the run to get in close for a U2. That was amazing!
There is this spot, deep down in the pit of my soul, that felt Bison's pain. However, there is this smile, several inches wide, that both respects and fears Guy.
That ultra combo at the end was awesome!!!
O M G the end of the last combat, sick reaction!
@Realmasterorder Guy's EX run has hyper armor, meaning it can absorb two hits. Additionally, his EX sudden stop after the run can absorb an additional hit.

SCISSOR KICK, SCISSOR KICK, SCISSOR KICK SCISSOR KICK, GUYS LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT FORGET THIS, NINJA MODE, FOCUS ATTACK CANCEL, FOCUS ATTACK CANCEL.. RAGING NINJA DEMON!!!!! 9:07 GUY GETS NINJA ON BISON!!
Ah yeah, I looked into it again, and you're right.

OMG I had to stop the replay on that fight ultra setup ...WOW Good stuff my friend.
That ex armor run stop at the end was fucking legit. Looks like dictator got predictable. Still takes some serious reaction.
@kosthoj What's a super armor cancel? Is that combining super armor with a focus attack to negate two hits?
are u going to uplaod more of this guy
Wow, that was an awesome finish to that last game.
Loved that last ultra, didnt expect it.
vega (mask guy) used to be called balrog? that name doesnt go with his image or personality at all ._. or am i just confused here?
magnificent guy play, bison's scissor kicks are awesome to watch
the last two bison matches were in the same upload as "high points dictator something something"
Where is he now?
9:10
That was so goddamn sick.
@kosthoj thats not armor cancel. the properties on his ex run is 2 armor for the run and one armor for the stop run. he's just really good with his timing, that whatever he got hit with would have been absorbed
Otaku's Guy is such a beast. Great mix ups
Dam this is insane! im learning alot from this guy! he makes it look so easy :P
Dat ending, so beautiful...
All characters that has an absorve move can do this: Zangief, Balrog, Abel, etc
yeah but i don't understand
why can't they just swap the name between M bison and balrog ONLY?
why does it have to involve THREE people instead of 2?
whats the current top ten worldwide? i soped watching ssvi4ae about some months ago when daigo changed his char...
hmm I wonder when AE comes out .. i mean .. if it comes out june or july what will be on EVO ?
@doschidra
pretty sure thats a ex run ultra 2 not a ex run stop u2.Run auto stops when you're in the opponent's face.
1:56 wow he put him to bed
Anyone got footage of Kiyo playing Guy in AE or SSFIV? I heard he's back and maining guy again
The way damage scaling works is it counts the number of attacks you threw in, so it doesn't matter how much damage the FA does, the follow-up combo is scaled the same way.
Level 3 FA does 140 damage, whereas level 2 only does 80.
@ArthasXfrost yes but only in corner i think, or after light shoulder close to corner, ofc.
Arcade Edition without Evil Ryu or Oni?
SHIT! the ending was sooooo sick. Can someone please tell me how L. Otaku's Guy absorbed which what i believe was THREE hits then ultra'd his ass? that was unreaaalll. I'm amazed that people are THIS good at ssf4. If anyone could clarify that'd be just swell.
Wow. My jaw dropped. This match up is so bad for Guy just because of that one move Bison does but that Ex Run into Ultra II... GODLIKE.
How do you get that EX g Mater title?
now hold on a second... In what universe does M. Bison is called VEGA like in the selection screen of this video? wtf? it is a hacked version? Vega is my favorite character since I played SF2 on my SNES so, me and Madre España demand an answer now

I'm not sure why you announced your arrival, but welcome.
@thebeast166 He's called Vega in Japan, and Balrog is Bison, but because the law said Bison sounded like Tyson, they changed it for Europe/US
Why? They both are scaled the same way afterward. What are you talking about?
Legendary Otaku eh...well I'll tell you one thing about that guy. He's inspiring me to play Street Fighter again.
I really appreciate a high level fight.
why does vega look like bison in this version?
@monkeywolf What do you mean by invented? As if to say he created combos and links in the game that Capcom didn't assign to Guy, I'm sure that's not what you mean because that doesn't sound sensible. That's what most say
How many attacks/fireballs can you absorb with Guy's ex run?
I like how the game announcer says"There it is"when Otaku pulls the ultra out.that was dope AF.was that an ex run into the ultra 2?
I main guy and second Vega this match up is really hard for guy because all his moves r risky Vega has a very good chip game and throw game guy is a mix up and rush character wht weakness does Vega have any ideas? I've been trying to figure out Vega natural weakness as a character more so than my own weaknesses
These battles took place in Guy's ending
When someone gets dizzy, why do they always do a level three focus attack (high damage, crumple, focus-piercing, lower damage with follow-up combo)? Why not do a level two focus attack (moderate damage, crumple, better damage with follow-up combo)?

I'd rather do a level two focus attack and follow-up with a nice combo.
Good grief: what an awesome finish!
Oh god that super armour cancel at the end, I just jizzed everywhere.
What edition is this? It doesn't look like the normal SSFiv arcade ed..
yeah that was freakingly breathtaking unexpected ex-running to ultra counter move @_@
Wat version is this
That ending was so epic!
@straightab6 Second after Legendary Otaku, it's the consensus in Japan from all the top players, including Tokido that Otaku is best Guy out there, better than Kiryu... He recently played 400 games, and went 396 - 4 against good players.
The player who uses Guy is damn amazing
The second fight made me hesitate a little, but he's good e_e
He might not be right now, but he definately was. And, once a God, always a God.

i understand there was a name swap when SF came to america, but after the 2nd match and i heard "vega wins" first instinct was wtf?
how did that ending happen ?
Awesome run stop U2 at the very end, 'bout time he did that.
9:10
Bison: " I will spam my knee at you guy!"
Guy: " Spam this, bitch!"
The Scissor kicks are all two hit moves - and Guy's EX run absorbs two hits. Pretty good way to finish though with Neurosis abusing them!
You dont know how much I love spaming with bison and seeing the others just guarding in the corner. 1 wrong move and they get hit
that M. Bison, was a beast...... nice finish that sucked. Good to see a M. Bison actually that good.
the last ultra was so sick
I love matches with no projectiles, always exciting
Yeah Bc scissor kick spam way more interesting than fb spam
@Realmasterorder
the second hit wasabsorbed cuz he started the ultra otherwise, if it was just EX wouldnt absorb it after the second hit. One can do that similar with balrog too. (my experience)
Is this in the arcade because mine does not say "Arcade Edition" sup with that? This guy is good but he isn't the best I've seen though. Nothing amazing here, however he is a damn good player.
All attacks after a dizzy are considered part of the same combo, so they all scale together.
Another thing Guy can do to beat the scissors kick is crouching mk. It beats it if it's timed right and timing is not THAT strict. They can bait it but its something to put out there from time to time.
I find it humorous what the ranks of the first match spell. :)
Bison's death cry is too epic.
why do all good players get bad grades at the end?
Originally, Mike Bison is a parody of Mike Tyson. Capcom USA didn't like that. So they swapped his name with other characters. The original name of Dictator is Vega. and Balrog is the Claw (Bullfighter)
There is a way to deal with it with Guy. Far medium kick stuffs it if he tries to do a second one immediately after. It won't beat it if blocked, but it puts a damper on scissor kick spam. I use this all the time.

Otaku wasn't using st. MK as he should have.
Bisons scissor kicks were coming out so quick!
Wow... Master. ive never seen that before.... he must have 1908201369 games under his name.
This Guy is BEAST btw.
originally in japan balrog was m.bison to make the name look like m.tyson(mike tyson) vega was originally balrog and bison was originally vega but when they brought the game to america they switched the name from m.bison to balrog because they were scared if mike tyson would sue them.
@kosthoj thats just an ex run with light kick for stopping no cancel going on there
Dayum! that was some smart stuff.
hey, SushiSyogun is correct, it's Legendary Otaku, not Lord Otaku.
