I had commented last week that I was trying to talk my sister into re-screening a portion of our porch. Well, I am happy to report she agreed AFTER we watched your video about 5 times. With a little help from our brother (he had all the right tools), we were able to do it. Total cost $48. Estimates from businesses went from $200 - $385!! Thank you both so much :)
Thank you ladies...this information saved me alot of money...I was a little nervous at first but it turned out great. Y'all really helped me and my family keep extra money in my pocket...Thanks for sharimg. 💜
My daughter bought a new home and the screen on the patio enclosure needs repair bad. I think you guys have just saved us a lot of money because now I think me and her can do this. Thank you !!1
Best DIY video I've seen. The "What We Learned" segment is amazing. You need to make a "How to Make a DYI Video" video. You guys know what you're doing. Thank you
OMGoodness! Thank you sooo much. Repairmen have been tied up since hurricane Irma and I've been freaking out because my indoor cats can't sit on the porch because Irma tore out part of my screen. My daughter, son, and I were able to replace the screen after watching your video. Great video for single moms!
YesTHANK YOU BOTH! Your vid gave me the confidence i needed, that mouse thingy , that is the money!! I will def not pay task rabbit to do this. I can do it!
That was super cute. The only thing I worried about though was getting it tight. You did not mention anything about this. But it was very cute and it made me miss my Momma :)
Hi Laurdess! To get it tight, one of us would hold the screen in place and the other roll the spline into place. By working as a team we were able to get it right and the correct tightness. We did this project over two years ago and have had no issues with it. Very doable! Thanks for watching- Steph
Okay first of all- Yall are the cutest! I think this was very informational and simple. I also liked how you guys informed about your experience with the Screen itself. Definitely will try attempting this with my Husband :)
Ok I'm doing the DIY for Homeowners binge. I had to look at this because I have a screen house with screens that constantly need attention. My husband usually fixes these screens but for some reason NETFLIX is calling him and he's listening to them more then he is listening to me. SOOOO I'm planning on taking these matters into my own hands. I'm sure it would be nice to have two people doing this job -- but would you say it's easy for one? Thanks for another video I can use. Thanks ladies.
You go girl! It would be much easier with a second person to hold the screen tight while you put the spline into place, but you can probably figure it out with just one. -Steph
This is great! The trouble is I have this old metal screening with what looks like pieces of plastic slats that pin the screening to a wooden frame :( Great video though!
My screens keep coming loose - I had them professionally installed. I live in S Nevada with high heat and strong winds at times. Can I glue them in or do something to prevent them from coming loose?
Thank you for your straightforward videos. I am considering the project for our porch and am wondering if you had any particular problems with the larger panels? We have some panels that are each approximately 4'x8'. I am concerned about getting the right tension. It looks like you had large panels on your porch as well. Any specific advice or warnings? Thank you again for your great videos!
Hi Lisa! Thanks for your kind words. We try to make our videos very watchable and not drag on so it's good to hear it's noticed! As far as the large panels, the biggest advice is have at least two people (if not more) to help hold the screen in place as your attaching the spline. One of our challenges was for the taller panels we had to be on ladders so it was a little tricky but we got it done. Just made sure you talk through the steps with your helper and safety first! Good luck- let us know how it goes! (check out our two year update video on the screen to see how it has been holding up for us th-cam.com/video/aCKXALCPwuI/w-d-xo.html)- Steph
That's not the way to rescreen mine. It looks like I have to unscrew the vertical posts and use a flat along the top and bottom. Can you please do a segment on newer types of patios? Thanks.
+BwAMurena Thanks for the info. We went with the round and haven't had any issues since install in march 2015. It's always best to research all options.
+BwAMurena ......Apparently my old spline is flat and so I bought new flat spline. The flat spline doesn't want to go in and the hardware store says there is only one size in flat spline. It has been a major PITA (i.e Pain) to hang this new screen. I never had a problem with round spine. Flat spine sucks for reinstallation.
Stephen Fiore Yes it is require some expertise to feed it properly, and before i asked Pro i was really upset failing to press it in place. There are two steps: 1. Feed one side (flat side to the groove) into the groove opposite to the mesh by pushing it with flat side of the tool. 2. Second side would stick out and this one should be pushed by grooved side of the tool And that will create perfect filling you can roll it few times to finally settle spline into place. I spend few yards of spline on empty groove as exercise.
That spline mouse is the cat's meow! Also, you guys "what we learned" section, as always, was very informative, succinct and helpful for first-timers.
Im getting ready to redo my entire screen porch. Ive never done this before.. thanks for the great video
This was great and to the point. I believe I can do it myself now. Thank You!
Great job. Thank you for the video.

Super informative, quick, and gave me confidence going into the hardware store. Also, you ladies had me smiling ear-to-ear at the end. SUBSCRIBED!
Couldn't say it any better. Off to the store I go.

Great clip !! Thank you !!....
Should the screen be tight?

Where did you get the spline mouse??
Home Depot. It's made by Phifer.
Round spline is not designed for porch screens. It will not catch grooves and fall of in a short. For lanai only flat spline can do the job.
+BwAMurena Thanks for the info. We went with the round and haven't had any issues since install in march 2015. It's always best to research all options.
