0:45 I think it is important to mention that “eternal blue sky” is a translation I often see of “Tengri” who is a (sort of) monotheistic god figure in tengrism, the historical religion of Turko-Mongolic peoples. Tengri is often thought of and referred to as “the eternal blue sky” (at least from translations I have read) so it might be better to think of the meaning of Mongolia to be “the land of tengri/god” rather than “the land of the eternal blue sky” Anyone who actually speaks Mongolian please inform me if am not understanding something though.
Yeah, both ways of saying Mongolia, "the eternal blue sky" and "the land of tengri," are totally on point and have a lot of cultural and historical meaning.
Excellent overview on Mongolia. It is worth noting that much of Mongolia, especially parts of the Gobi have turned out to be a loaded with dinosaur fossils, including nests containing fossilized dinosaur eggs. Also, the tomb of Genghis Khan has never been found and is believed to be in Mongolia and to contain almost unimaginable wealth in gold, etc., etc. Satellite imagery has been in attempts to locate the tomb.

@@suyashmallik118 They usually hang out at foreign locations, like Loafology (Traditional European style bakery owned by an Austrian woman, sells stuff like Polish rye and Parisian and Traditional baguettes), other than Loafology you'll find them at Kohsar market, which is a really westernized market that I go to a lot. Sometimes you'll just see them around the street. That's just talking about Europeans though, Chinese people are quite common, you'll see some other asians around as well, if you go to Taxila you might see buddhists there since there are a few monasteries there (Jaulian and Mohra Muradu), there's also the Dharmarajika stupa. Most of the foreigners are usually either German, British or Chinese. I'd say there are definitely more foreigners in Islamabad than Karachi or Lahore though.

Faith tbh I have not seen so many Asian people in my life, but from what I have seen I can say that Mongolian people are more dark-skinned and look more like Central Asian folks ( for instance Uzbek people), when Chinese people have a lighter skin and tend to have more narrow facial features. Although, the language is quite different. Mongolian language has some similar words with Turkic languages what I can identify as the Azeri speaker.

@Glorious Turk Yeah... except that Finns don't have Mongolian DNA (in any meaningful proportions). Siberian, yes, a little -- from a long time ago -- which is not surprising because you have ethnic groups speaking Finno-Ugric languages in parts of Siberia. This whole Finland/Mongolia thing has its origins in the wild and long since discredited theory of a 19th century linguist that Finnish and Mongolian would be distantly related languages. But they are not. End of story.

0:45 I think it is important to mention that “eternal blue sky” is a translation I often see of “Tengri” who is a (sort of) monotheistic god figure in tengrism, the historical religion of Turko-Mongolic peoples. Tengri is often thought of and referred to as “the eternal blue sky” (at least from translations I have read) so it might be better to think of the meaning of Mongolia to be “the land of tengri/god” rather than “the land of the eternal blue sky”
Anyone who actually speaks Mongolian please inform me if am not understanding something though.
Satellite imagery has been in attempts to locate the tomb.
no gold. The king buried his grave very modestly, without any gold, protecting his greedy people.

Ah I love Mongolia! Such an interesting country with an amazing history. The food is so amazing, so underrated, I used to have this Mongolian lady that cooked Mongolian food here in Islamabad, and she made the best Khuushuur, Khuushuur is so amazing, sadly she moved back to Mongolia a while ago so I haven't eaten the Khuushuur since :(, didn't get to try the other Mongolian food. Hopefully I can visit Mongolia one day!
Do you get to meet a lot of foreigners in Islamabad? (I'm from India, genuine question)
I think most Americans think all Asians look Chinese and eat rice
3:43 made me laugh out loud bc when I was visiting home (darkhan) and going to the countryside I took so many photos and they all ended up looking like the windows background

Fikret Abdinov what are Mongolians like? If you didn’t know they were Mongolian, would you think they are Chinese?
Faith tbh I have not seen so many Asian people in my life, but from what I have seen I can say that Mongolian people are more dark-skinned and look more like Central Asian folks ( for instance Uzbek people), when Chinese people have a lighter skin and tend to have more narrow facial features. Although, the language is quite different. Mongolian language has some similar words with Turkic languages what I can identify as the Azeri speaker.
actually you can go to buryatia too, (my grandpa was a buryat) i went to buryatia once and i can say its pretty similar.

@@brrrn7927 Manchus were median between Mongols and Koreans. Gave us hard time for 2~3centuries, we all know. They’re genetically most similar to Mongolians, it’s true. Today, they are non-existent which sucks. Mongolia and Manchus could have combined together and created big nation with ocean access which borders Russia, China and Korea.
Then we could ask USA for help.

The Mongol Empire at it's height took up 16% of all the land on Earth
and controlled 1 out of every 4 people on the planet, a 13th century
superpower.
And successful military training in human history. Very successful. Other nations can't reach/beat this training.
