Glad you enjoyed it! I don’t have the pleasure of owning any birds of this variety, but it’s definitely one I wish I had! Wishing you the best in working with yours!
Perfect - Platinum is new to me too (I'm in Europe though) and I happen to have a few eggs in my incubator. Your videos are very helpful. Both sound and text make it stick - at least a bit longer 🥰
Just how it is! 🙂 Genes occur as a mutation of existing sequences. I’m unsure which gene arose first - dominant white or dun - but one of them did first as a mutation of the gene occupying that locus. There is actually another mutation that occurred at that locus too - the Smokey gene. It isn’t seen much at all though. Here’s a paper, hopefully it clears it up. It’s pretty hard to explain. 😅 pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15579702/
Thank you! Sadly, I do not own any of this variety (all photo/video materials were borrowed with permission), but they are definitely a favorite of mine!
Thanks for sharing. Working with the khakis and chocolate WC bantams now.

Thanks for your chicken genetics videos!
Thank you for watching, so glad they are useful for you! 😁

Thank you so much, I'm so glad they are helpful! I'm hoping to do a video on platinum soon. :)
I just found your videos! I'm confused, though - how can the dun gene occupy the same locus as black and as white?
