List of my top 5 bourbons under $30, plus a few honorable mentions. There are a lot of solid, inexpensive bourbons so I really tried hard to narrow this list down to the best. #bourbon #whiskey #whiskeytube
Can't argue with your list, but I would have squeezed regular Eligah Craig onto the list, its the bourbon that got me started on better quality bourbons.....for a great price,,,,,,,,
Good call, Elijah Craig deserved at least to be mentioned. It was one of the first bottles I bought regularly, back when it had the 12 year age statement. I thought it was over $30 but still 29.99. Thanks for pointing that out!
Good list! I just got a Benchmark Full Proof and I'm really happy with it, way better than the low proof Benchmarks. I agree OGD 114 is the king in this range. Sadly I've never seen Early Times BiB out here in California.
I think Buffalo Trace is a perfect pick for your list. I think it should be at the top but I'm a big Buffalo Trace fan and I drink everything they make up to George T Stagg. I live in Central Kentucky so I have no problem getting most any bourbon.
My favorites are the 100 proof Old Grand-Dad that is $23 here, and the Bernheim Original 90 proof Wheat Whiskey for $30. My son likes the Jim Beam Double Oak.
OGD 114 was my previous favorite value bourbon, and it reigned supreme for years! I've recently fallen in love with Benchmark Full Proof; so much so that it has dethroned OGD 114 as my favorite value bourbon. I've tried all the variants of Benchmark, and for me, none are even in the same league as the Full Proof. Absolute value per dollar. Wild Turkey 101 is a staple and can be found anywhere, so if you can't find Benchmark Full Proof or OGD 114, that's the one I'd choose. Buffalo Trace is super tasty, but it's fairly hard to find, and it's also one that can be super over-priced due to its popularity in the secondary market. I'd love to try a higher proof version of it, as Buffalo Trace only 80 proof.
I can't argue with any of your top 5. Only changes I would make is WT 101 is #1 for me. Hard to find the ET in Alabama as well. My honorable mention would be Ancient Ancient Age. Incredibly good for the price.
It’s weird man, a random store will have it once in a blue moon. No bottle limit though. Not sure why it’s so hard to get here when it’s a shelf staple in other states.
It's got a little heat. But I've found that bottle really opens up the lower it gets. I wish Beam would put out a 10 year OGD. I don't think they have any premium products that use that high rye mash bill, I really wish they'd put one out.
After # 4 I was preparing to comment on how could you leave our OGD114 but then it came in at your #1! Im a higher proof guy and for my money its OGD 114 all day long in this category!
Can't find OGD114 or Early Times around here so have to rely on your opinion on those. I like the BT and OF100 over the WT101. I have only had 1 bottle of the WT101 and found it just to be OK but will have to try it again based on so many people with more experience than me liking it so much. I would add 1792 SB, Buillett and Elijah Craig SB to the list to go along with the OF100 and BT. I also like OF 86 a lot as well.
All good options! 1792 is over $30 here so I didn’t consider it, but Elijah Craig deserved to be mentioned for sure. Definite oversight. Thanks for watching!
Maker's Mark is actually around $35 in my area. I do love MM cask strength for 49.99- one of the best values out there. I always keep a bottle on hand.
That's too bad about the Early Times and OGD, but you guys are allowed to distill your own spirits over there I think? At least that's pretty cool! Thanks for watching!
I hear you…it’s under $30 here but allocated. I do see it marked up a lot in the non ABC states but still come across it fairly regularly for $30 or less.
Good luck on your channel. I enjoy listening to others' opinions..I can get Elijah Craig small bath under 30 where I am. Only one I would add..this one may not be widely available, Wheel Horse can compete favorably to WT 101....
Early Times availability from state to state seems to be all over the place right now. I’ve heard that OGD rumor too, and it did become harder to find for a short time. Luckily the price didn’t jump up around here though.
Mellow Corn is corn whiskey, but for the price, holy POPCORN!!! lol btw I absolutely love Mellow Corn. I first bought it because I loved the artwork on the bottle, and it was ultra cheap. I was pleasantly surprised when I sipped it and actually liked it!
I wouldn’t call it dead but I know what you mean. Haven’t gone down the tequila rabbit hole yet. But I started with rum. A lot of bad rums out there but the ones that are good are really, really good.
Yeah I'm done throwing money at allocated bourbon. It's RARELY worth it. If I can snag it at MSRP, then I'll do it. I just hate being disappointed by hype.
If you really like whiskey there are many bourbon that are very good.they just don't have the excucivisity that BT products have. Austin Nichols makes great bourbon and so does Willett. They can keep the hype everyone is done with that mess. I have found that tequila is more interesting and has many different varietals that can please any palet.
Compared to other bottles in the price range I think it's still one of the best. A lot of bottles have declined in quality/age as bourbon has continued to get more popular and they're trying to put more out.
Hard to please everyone but honestly, it probably deserves a spot in the top 5. I’ll have to blind them all, honorable mentions included, and see if the list holds up. It’s without a doubt the best bourbon under $20. Not even close. Thanks for watching the beginning! 😂
Love Buffalo Trace and Wild Turkey 101, but Old Forester 100 has to be my favorite. I really do like bourbons that are sweater on the noise and on the pallet. Also where im at in Iowa 1792 Small batch is 27$ right now, and is also freaking amazing. I still prefer my Old Forester 100, but 1792 SB is top quality under 30$. The only other bourbon in this video that I had is Evan Williams bottle in bond. To me its a typical 17-19$ bottle of bourbon. Nothing special in its price range, it tastes almost the same to Evan Williams Small Batch, fighting cock and most of the pallet is close to old overholt with the exception of the Rye front pallet. Not saying it is bad by any means, its just the epidemy of a 17-19$ bottle. if you want lesser quality for the 15-20$ range try Bird Dog. A bottle which I cannot call bad, but nothing good about it either. a 15-20$ bourbon which somewhat surprised me is rebel 100. It tastes very bold, and lacks the slight offputting bitterness most 15-20$ bottles. It lacks anything that stands out, it is strictly bold, no sweatness, but at its price point compared to other bottle it cannot be beat compared to other bourbons in that price range I have had.
1792 is like $33 around here but still a great value bottle! I might have to do an under $20 list at some point and blind them all. I think Evan Williams would win but who knows? Thanks for watching!
@@averagejoeswhiskey Depends on where you live. I'm in the Gainesville area and ET BiB is unfindable but down in the Tampa Area it sells for $13.99-$14.99 all day long. For a Liter!!! Obviously I buy several any time I'm down that way. And IMO better than the EW BiB by a mile.
Can't argue with your list, but I would have squeezed regular Eligah Craig onto the list, its the bourbon that got me started on better quality bourbons.....for a great price,,,,,,,,

Great video! OGD Bonded is one of my favorites. I need to replenish soon! BT on the shelves here at Sams Club regularly for 27.99! Just picked one up.
Good list! I just got a Benchmark Full Proof and I'm really happy with it, way better than the low proof Benchmarks. I agree OGD 114 is the king in this range. Sadly I've never seen Early Times BiB out here in California.
Thanks for watching! Early Times won’t change your life but I’d definitely grab one if you ever come across it.
I think Buffalo Trace is a perfect pick for your list. I think it should be at the top but I'm a big Buffalo Trace fan and I drink everything they make up to George T Stagg. I live in Central Kentucky so I have no problem getting most any bourbon.
Man, that must be nice. Thanks for watching!
Excellent list, I love it! My current daily is OF 100, but I'll be giving OGD 114 a taste soon!
Awesome! Don't think you'll be disappointed.
I can find OGD 114 for like 22 near me and it’s the one of the few bottles that I will always rebuy
It’s really hard to beat at that price. Enjoy!
22 is a fantastic price for OGD 114!
That's too bad, only $23 here. I agree on the Cask Strength. One of my fav's
My favorites are the 100 proof Old Grand-Dad that is $23 here, and the Bernheim Original 90 proof Wheat Whiskey for $30. My son likes the Jim Beam Double Oak.

Ancient Ancient Age and JTS Brown BiB were very close to an honorable mention. Had to draw the line somewhere though 😆
Thanks for watching!
Early Times BIB all day everyday 🤘🏻. Hasn’t been any available in VA since last drop in October.
It’s weird man, a random store will have it once in a blue moon. No bottle limit though. Not sure why it’s so hard to get here when it’s a shelf staple in other states.
Nice job
Old Grandad 114 is very hot. IMO. still a good buy
It's got a little heat. But I've found that bottle really opens up the lower it gets. I wish Beam would put out a 10 year OGD. I don't think they have any premium products that use that high rye mash bill, I really wish they'd put one out.
Actually if you’re okay with ryes the Old Overholt 114 is 19 in Ohio and a banger. It’s OGD 114 but a rye. The other bottles I’m okay with. Enjoy!!
We have Old Overholt bonded but not the 114. I will definitely pick one up when I come across one. Thanks for watching!
After # 4 I was preparing to comment on how could you leave our OGD114 but then it came in at your #1! Im a higher proof guy and for my money its OGD 114 all day long in this category!
I would have put Early times in last place.

Larceny? 1792? But a well thought out commentary.
Larceny and 1792 are now both over $30 around here. I didn’t even realize that until I was putting the list together.
Great list, very solid choices. I'm on the west coast if you'd ever like to do some sample trades!
Thanks man, I might take you up on that!
Old Grand Dad is $20.00 bucks here in Wisconsin, for some reason the bottled in bond is more expensive and I actually prefer the bottled in bond.
Honestly can’t go wrong with either one. $20 is crazy low though!
@@averagejoeswhiskey yep, and the bottled in bond is $23 bucks.
Awesome Picks.😝👊🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲💯💯💯🥃🥃🥃 outstanding. A pitty we can't get the early times BIB Or the Old Grandad 114 in NZ.🌏🥝🌿🌿🌿🥃🥃🥃💯💯💯😭😭😭 great video brother.
That's too bad about the Early Times and OGD, but you guys are allowed to distill your own spirits over there I think? At least that's pretty cool! Thanks for watching!
Buffalo Trace averages
$34-36 Where I live. Good luck finding it for under 30 these days.
I hear you…it’s under $30 here but allocated. I do see it marked up a lot in the non ABC states but still come across it fairly regularly for $30 or less.
That’s steep. I find it for 25 all day here in Dallas.
Good luck on your channel. I enjoy listening to others' opinions..I can get Elijah Craig small bath under 30 where I am. Only one I would add..this one may not be widely available, Wheel Horse can compete favorably to WT 101....
Appreciate it! Haven’t tried Wheel Horse, will have to keep an eye out for it.
WhistlePig? Willet? Widow Jane? High West? Elijah Craig?
Nothing wrong with those, although most are in that $40-50 range around here. Except Elijah Craig, that probably deserved a spot.
Could not find Early Times BIB in NY if u wanted to. OGD 114 went up because of a stupid rumor that it was gonna be discontinued.
Early Times availability from state to state seems to be all over the place right now. I’ve heard that OGD rumor too, and it did become harder to find for a short time. Luckily the price didn’t jump up around here though.
Jim Beam black label! Cheer's
Where's the Mello Corn
I considered it but wanted to keep the list strictly bourbons. But I’m with you, Mello Corn is a great bottle for like $15!
Mellow Corn is corn whiskey, but for the price, holy POPCORN!!! lol
btw I absolutely love Mellow Corn. I first bought it because I loved the artwork on the bottle, and it was ultra cheap. I was pleasantly surprised when I sipped it and actually liked it!
Whiskey is dead..and allocation killed it. Tequila is KING. You can't find Weller 107...but Espolon is everywhere. ❤
I wouldn’t call it dead but I know what you mean. Haven’t gone down the tequila rabbit hole yet. But I started with rum. A lot of bad rums out there but the ones that are good are really, really good.

WT101 from a few years ago, maybe. Today’s WT101, not good at all.
Compared to other bottles in the price range I think it's still one of the best. A lot of bottles have declined in quality/age as bourbon has continued to get more popular and they're trying to put more out.
I can't handle Evan Williams. Something about it I just can't like
Good luck with your channel
When you speak try to have a little enthusiasm as your voice tends to get gravely
I'm trying man, don't think I'm a naturally enthusiastic person. But I'm trying! Thanks for watching!
Quit watching giving Evan William BOB an honorable mention!
