Howdy! You just replied to a comment I left on a dust collection video. You gave me some advice and then told me about your videos and I came here looking for something that showed your dust collection and I saw this video and I clicked on it and it's pretty funny cuz I was just, and I mean just, googling to see if there were 23 gauge pin nails that had a spiral shank or a ring shank to improve their holding capacity without having to have a nail with a head. And so I paused once I saw your collection of pin nails because now I'm curious about that. I couldn't find any evidence of such a pin nail that exists so I thought I'd ask you about that as well as the dust deputy and harbor freights version and if you think there's a less costly alternative than the official dust deputy. I don't mind spending The money if it makes a big difference because that's kind of stuff is very important to me. I always wore a mask when I was an addicts as a home inspector because of what the fiberglass can do to your lungs over time. I just don't know about connecting from a tool to the dust deputy then to the shop back that you mentioned. The DeWalt. which by the way I googled them there are multiple varieties and it occurred to me that they may not be as good as the harbor freight dust extractor? And if they turn on automatically with powering up a tool? I wish there was a way we could directly communicate a bit more easily. I also wanted to know how much I appreciate you taking the time to help a guy out. VERY appreciated 👍🏼👍🏼

Harbor Freight Sales the Pin Nails as well as Lowes and Home Depoit and Menards. These pin nails are not designed to be a permanent holding device. However, they are a wonderful positioning tool to hold things while the glue or screws set.
All the cyclones help in putting the dust in the container and saving your filter from collecting it. I have the Harbor Frieght (dust Deputy) copy and it works ok yet the lid on the bucket was not as easy to remove as the dust deputy is. I empty mine at least once a week so its worth the 20 bucks to have the better quality. I have also used the dustopper that Home Depot has but it doesn't do the job the dust deputy does and you will still have to clean the filters.
Bottom line is you can find knock offs that work and may work well. The Oneida is USA made and the quality of it is better. I have different sides of them installed and they have worked well for many years. I highly recommend hooking up the shop vac dust deputy up to a pool hose on a reel that will allow you to unspool it to reach any point in your shop. This works well for me.
I had a nice 20 by 28 shop that had dust collection to each machine 30 years ago that worked great. Yet the 2 hoses work well for me in my 21 by 22' garage shop. Holler if you have any questions. Glad to help.
