P99 everquest rogue backstab while in solo combat

Purpose of this video is to show new rogues in classsic P99 everquest how to backstab while in solo combat. I didn't learn this was possible until my 40's and couldn't find anything else out on youtube describing how to do this.
Some might argue turning auto attack off during combat isn't worth doing this, I'm not here to argue that point. I simply want to show it is possible to backstab while in solo combat. I'll leave it up to you to decide when this might be necessary to use in combat.
For me personally it has saved me a few times when low on HP. Figure I've got 1 chance to backstab this guy or I'm toast.

You can BS while behind someone and facing away from them as well.

Back in The Day, Rogues could attempt to evade in solo combat, if successful they could bind wounds and Apply Poisons while hiding then, re-engage with a BS followed by a Slow or DoT or DD poison. If you stayed hidden long enough the mobs would walk away or drop you from their aggro list entirely if I remember correctly.

You may be thinking of World of Warcraft :p or the Shadows of Luclin ability called "Escape." I tried hiding during combat so many times as a kid, especially when my group was wiping, and it never worked, lol. I'm also fairly certain that solo backstabbing was never a thing in classic. I was a kid who tried to do it constantly for years, and while I got pretty prolific at frontal backstabs in PVP, I never once met a single person who landed a backstab solo, and I had quite a lot of Rogue friends, many of which I still talk to this day 20+ years later.

@@BoomerElite4u I didn't play WoW. I distinctly remember the first time Evade worked in Everfrost while soloing a snow orc shammy. He ran away at SoW speed I didn't get to BS him again.
Solo BS is a fine art, you walk into the mob until it turns then back up and BS at the same time. Be careful, if the mob is also a Rogue it can BS you when during the walk through.

After posting this video and playing around some more, I realized you don't need to hide in order to get the backstab in combat to work. If you quickly strife to the side sometimes the mob will stand still long enough to backstab in combat. Anyways give either method a try, using evade or just strife while in combat.

I set up a button for pick pocket back in the day. Because as all rouge's knew back then you had to have that skill up to get your epic. PoP basically made it worthless though if you were in a guild that did some end content.

there is a 100 times easier way to do this, i solo backstab by getting so close to them im almost inside them, then u dart forward and the mob turns and you instant dart back and hit backstab hotkey and boom, solo backstab almost everytime once u get the hang of it.

@@Melton80 If the mob is a Rogue they also have a chance to BS you when then turn before you back out... It happened to me!

what race are you? and what starting stats did u go with?

sorry for not answering your question, wood elf, I put my starting stats in 25 stamina, 5 strength I believe. I choose health over a few attack points.

This is way too much extra steps. Jboots help, but strafe running by the mob you are attacking works. No need to cancel auto attack or hide
