I knew about Bank culture in 2008 only when one of the seniors threatened to escalate his work to seniors if not done that day. Then I realized that the MBA degree has no value if you are not delivering the objectives for which you are hired.
I have worked with Indian employers and US/EU employers and there is a marked difference in work culture here and there, while India has a prevalent "sir ji" culture, for US/EU all employees are treated on the same level and this is primarily because of the laws and regulations that protects the employees in those countries, whereas here, we have regulations in name only and it also gets topped off by the exploitative mentality of people in power like this person. The system needs to be changed from top to bottom, only then will we stop seeing such videos, this was terrible - to actually have to sit and take crap for a person like this for the sake of our jobs.
HDFC is scapegoating this guy. They should be made to pay a hefty fine to the tune of crores for abusive workplace practices, mental torture of employees and misleading customers to meet targets. Only then a little change will be seen.
Demorlised employee cannot perform. Bombarding customer with misleading offers of insurance or mutual fund only irritates customer . You cannot cheat and mislead and pressurize customer all the time. It is very difficult to open current and savings account and forcing customer to take health and other insurance. Pvt banks try to fleece customer as much as possible. Very bad situation.
I personally feel that India falls significantly behind Australia or the USA when it comes to work culture. I find myself regretting my decision to pursue my MBA here. Despite graduating from a top MBA college, the seniors in my company treat me with disrespect. I am required to work long hours, usually 10 to 12 hours a day, and even work on Sundays to prepare for the upcoming week. To be honest, life in the Indian corporate sector feels extremely challenging and frustrating. Actually I have made up my mind to pursue another master's degree in the USA next year and plan to settle there permanently.
@@Daksh_Prabhakar i think mba as a whole in india do not get respect the kind of work they do, engineers probably get more respect, most of the comments i have seen on youtube most engineers were not happy after doing mba and shifting into mba jobs, its just that it pays well if one does it from the top colleges like you do

This is the story of every private sector bank in India. That angry boss would have received relatively much much higher pressure from his seniors for sales target. This situation has worsen since covid.
What if someone someday smashes a baseball bat on his head and his eyes actually pop out of the socket out of the impact... Who would be to blame then?
How can he expect that Bank products can be sold at will, and only reason they are not, is because of laziness of the salesman. Like literally their could be multiple reason for this. The bank branch does not have enough wealthy customers to buy those products, the product itself lack features in comparison to competition from other banks, the economic situation is risky, etc. Like he believes it's not being sold because of lack of effort from managers, shows his lack of intelligence. And the fact, that he exposes himself on video, also proves that. 😂
I live in Pune and I have seen other HDFC bank managers shouting and misbehaving with employees. Even though this video is extreme. But when this clip appeared it became more obvious to me that culture in HDFC is toxic.
I experienced this type of work culture in banks, especially Axis Bank and HDFC Bank. The managers will give pressure to achieve the target even if we are sitting as cashiers. After joining the bank, they will give pressure to bring insurance by any chance from our family members. If we are, they will tell to resign the job or they will say bad words. Especially some branch managers. So I left the banking industry due this pressure. One manager said he will make me suffer on appraisal. This type of threats are also there
This is nothing compared to what my friend, who is a former employee, told me what happens during meetings. Juniors get blatant threats, and constantly abused (literal gaali galoch)... happens in many corporate banks, especially in insurance dept. But what I think is that this type of culture is common in many private sectors--not good for mental health.
Never take the boss's threats seriously. Also, be dabangg - if the boss crosses his limits, ask him sir may I know your home address? I want to discuss an issue with u personally - boss himself will feel threatened bcoz he will know that u want to smash him in his own home in front of his family. I personally know a close friend of mine who just by chance did find his toxic boss in D Mart - he thrashed him brutally outside D Mart building, both lodged FIR against each other but the police system is so lethargic that nothing happens. After that incident became famous in his company, literally no senior ever misbehaved with him and even his manager gave him very good appraisals every year - so sometimes, instilling fear and using muscle power becomes the only solution to end toxicity of these managers.
Most people criticise the manager which is natural but the truth within these banks specifically ICICI and HDFC, it’s painful seeing how much these managers go through in front of their seniors. Every organisation culture roots from the top CEO and he should be the first person to blame, instead they nicely threw this Pushpal out to save their face. Once we see the inside, then only can we understand the reasons behind his mad shouting. The work culture behind these banks should change then only these can be avoided. We can all understand it’s not his own bank to be this mad then it’s the pressure that’s cascading down
This is the risk of being a line manager. No manager likes to pressurize his team but if he gets pressurized from above he has two options, to pressurize team or to resign. This is the fact. I know a manager who is very friendly and respectful to his team. He was forced to resign because he denied to accept unrealistic targets.
You can't grow this much in an organization without support from the company, its culture, and senior management. HDFC can only blame itself. Do you have to wait for a viral video to suspend someone like him? Really??
Next time a bank employee pushes for any fintech product please know that it is because there is a Rupal Roy behind and not because of any inherent benefit in the product…
This is actually the reality of any corporate job in Kolkata right now, no matter how big an MBA, or Engineer or Finance graduate you're main job criteria is a sales role trying to push company products and services.
Because it happened in Kolkata and is growing worse , it may happen in B2Cs but other B2Cs are not pulling everyone into sales quota culture. You don't have any RnD or business research activities happening there hence all are forced to migrate to different states for job.
The experiences of employees in every branch are reflected in this story. MBA graduates face challenges regarding their salaries, the level of respect they receive, and the demanding nature of their commutes, as banks have the power to assign them to any location. It's truly ironic to work in this country. In the past, the IT sector was renowned for its emphasis on work-life balance, strong work ethics, respectful interactions, and valuing human life. However, even that is fading away due to the increasing presence of Indian leadership. The statement made by HDFC is seen as nothing but a joke, eliciting laughter. 🤣

Huge respect for Biswanath, Sagnik and other officers of the Indian banking system. Don't worry, the awareness has been created, soon upper management will stop treating employees as feriwala (salesman).

Hdfc bank should be boycotted... Let's rise voice.
I knew about Bank culture in 2008 only when one of the seniors threatened to escalate his work to seniors if not done that day. Then I realized that the MBA degree has no value if you are not delivering the objectives for which you are hired.
I have heard worse than this from my closest friends, they even have taken insurance policy from their own money just to meet targets.
The guy is actually a symptom of the disfunctional corporate world.
Only then a little change will be seen.
can’t even imagine how he would treat his wife & kids! this guy has serious anger management problems. He needs therapy
Reminds me of our manager. She does nothing and yells and insults other employees. Our department has a high rate of resignation.
I understood the reason behind polite behaviour of bank employees
If a person tolerate this much of scolding, can tolerate any thing
India actually needs strong labour law.
Which college you pursued your mba from?

@@Daksh_Prabhakar i think mba as a whole in india do not get respect the kind of work they do, engineers probably get more respect, most of the comments i have seen on youtube most engineers were not happy after doing mba and shifting into mba jobs, its just that it pays well if one does it from the top colleges like you do

Such jokers are bosses ,not even basic ethics of talking to a person
This is the story of every private sector bank in India. That angry boss would have received relatively much much higher pressure from his seniors for sales target. This situation has worsen since covid.

He needs a Srikant Tiwari in his team.
😄
Yeah ..No IB agent will survive in HDFC as much😅
Who's that?
@@vidisharoy3630Manoj Bajpayee The family man.
After this incident he got promotion in HDFC Bank and now he is Circle Head and posted at Kolkata.
Not only this bugger, but all hdfc senior gadhas are less educated, brute and hooligans are like this one.
Poor sagnik.Was just watching him.😂
Every industry has just become about targets. And that’s where the unnecessary pressure is being build up!
We can all understand it’s not his own bank to be this mad then it’s the pressure that’s cascading down
And the sad part is Govt is trying to privatize Public sectors banks to make things worst...

This is the risk of being a line manager. No manager likes to pressurize his team but if he gets pressurized from above he has two options, to pressurize team or to resign. This is the fact. I know a manager who is very friendly and respectful to his team. He was forced to resign because he denied to accept unrealistic targets.
Think about the unrecorded meetings that are happening everyday in the offices and banks.
In sales usually you are screwed, based on power point presentations, this is still too lenient ..
You can't grow this much in an organization without support from the company, its culture, and senior management. HDFC can only blame itself. Do you have to wait for a viral video to suspend someone like him? Really??
This manager has been made the scapegoat... No body is mad, we don't know what he is facing from his bosses...
For a reason I left swatantra microfin pvt ltd by aditya birla annaya birla
Next time a bank employee pushes for any fintech product please know that it is because there is a Rupal Roy behind and not because of any inherent benefit in the product…
This is actually the reality of any corporate job in Kolkata right now, no matter how big an MBA, or Engineer or Finance graduate you're main job criteria is a sales role trying to push company products and services.
Why are you bringing Kolkata into this? This incident might have happened in Kolkata, but it happens in every private organisation that deals in B2C.
Because it happened in Kolkata and is growing worse , it may happen in B2Cs but other B2Cs are not pulling everyone into sales quota culture. You don't have any RnD or business research activities happening there hence all are forced to migrate to different states for job.
This is not possible in Western Europe
This man is exact copy of republic tv anchor arnab goswami 😅😅
The experiences of employees in every branch are reflected in this story. MBA graduates face challenges regarding their salaries, the level of respect they receive, and the demanding nature of their commutes, as banks have the power to assign them to any location. It's truly ironic to work in this country.
In the past, the IT sector was renowned for its emphasis on work-life balance, strong work ethics, respectful interactions, and valuing human life. However, even that is fading away due to the increasing presence of Indian leadership.
The statement made by HDFC is seen as nothing but a joke, eliciting laughter. 🤣
Keep exposing such persons, it will unarm their bosses.
This is a well known but ignored issue in all indian organisations.
