- I am really honor to work on Star Guardians Akali splash. She's one of the two leaders of the new Star Guardians and childhood friend with Kai'sa. They all fighting the dark creature in Valoran City. She just stopped one enemy from hurting you while she's Ultting in the air and you can see her just back flip on top of you, with this soft and romantic sunset light. Hope you like it.

I still can't believe Riot allows artists to share the process that's just amazing and very helpful to aspiring artists

@@joaquincaceresguibovich3182 some companies do not allow the artists to even display the artwork in their portfolio and do not disclose their identity. I have a graphic designer friend he worked for huge companies and that was one of their conditions.

@@joaquincaceresguibovich3182 if you sold someone a car then you cannot just take it back without their permission because you created it. same with artwork.

we all can learn to draw, but finding the concept is another story
@@ngegamesantai_ like I can understand drawing a single piece is tolerable but they have to do it over and over again until it gets approved. And yes finding concepts and inspiration is also rlly hard to do. And their piece aren't just pure sketch too they actually color and render half way just for it to be rejected by the company, so much time and effort will be wasted
Pretty easy on the difficulty scale. Some people are firefighters, some have people's lives in their hands, others are soldiers... and then are these guys that paint xD
@@astico5456 no job is easy, it may seem like it because they literally just sit and draw.
Remember this, everyone in the world can paint but there's just a few who got the patience to do a piece over and over and over again. And I doubt that even less can be qualified for the job because this actually takes a lot of time, motivation, not everyone can sit in front of a tablet and draw a whole day, because these actually have a deadline. And after they finish a project there's always a next one, they almost have no time to rest. There's no easy job in the world, if there is then everyone would choose that job, no brainer.
Firefighters are on a different scale, some people find it easy because they're actually built for firefighting, it may sound hard but for people who got a fit and strong body + with years of training it's not that bad. It's just the same with being an artist, people just get the misconception that it's easy because they never experienced to be an artist in the first place.
Actually fascinating to see how many iterations you went through and how far some of them got - this is one of my favourite splash arts, thank you so much!
right? I was NOT expecting the first one to be closed out like that, especially with how far it’s already gotten. At least it’s still here so that we can see and appreciate it

They weren't iterations, they were thumbnails - Riot demands a bunch of thumbnails they can pick from before you start the lengthy work on the final splash. A lot of artists do multiple thumbnails on the same canvas, this artist just preferred to fill the canvas with them instead.
@@SoundlessFantasy They don't pursue perfection, it is their job to make art like this. If they had to make lower quality art (like emotes), they would do that normally.
It's incredible how, despite having brilliant sketches, you kept exploring to find the most spectacular pose and angle. Congratulations, you have done a wonderful job
I mean, there's that, but riot usually requires multiple versions and they choose one out :D

The way the textures and light is painted is very charming. They look almost too clean, too perfect to be real, and that just adds to the fantasy aspect of it.

I think its most impressive how you can draw the character in any pose, and get the hands right without reference. like how
he has probably drawn so many hands that he just knows by heart what they look like and doesn't need to look at a picture. practice my friend

This looks like one of the most advanced splash arts so far. Insane perspective, colours, and storytelling.
It always amazes me to see how Riot artists manage colour values/tones and light on a subject. Also their material rendering is mesmerizing. Would love to know, just for the purpose of curiosity, if you can reach this level studying hard on your own or you have to attend courses and classes (even though i know teachers' feedbacks are important).
Me too! I would love to know if there is at least a course you can recommend me from a riot artist? How to polish and render, using these values and lights?
@@somethingelse928 I would like to share the twitch channel that is made up of riot contractors called “wildbluestudios” that’s the twitch channel, they do free portfolio reviews every Wednesday and they literally tell you how to go from normal artist to riot level artist.I REALLY recommend it especially as the head is ex riot. The biggest thing they’ve said is rendering is not as important as the fundamentals which you can learn at home if you’re disciplined or of course from a school.
I don't play Akali but this splashart was one of the reasons I main her now 💀 I just love how unique it is cause she's upside down
Ok, I really loved this process and this brush because there is no lineart to deal with.
It generates some in-between block out, not a blob painting but also not pure lines.
the fact that even with a timelapse everything still shows all the time and effort you put in this work clearly and im grateful to have this help myself to put in more effort in my art and not to give up so easily 😅
well if you knew the result would be as good as this i don't think you'd give up
@@aizuni for me it depends on the media. like I'd stop v early when watercoloring, but it's a habit i drag to digital painting 😭😭😭
