Hello everyone it’s come to my attention that I forgot how to explain how to log back into retropi if you leave to put roms in. Every time you leave use the third set of text: cd RetroPie-Setup sudo ./retropie_setup.sh To log back in to retropi and just redo the steps to launch the program! Hope this helps!! Also put in bio for update
Thanks man. Just got my pi 5 in the mail today. Upgraded from 3b+ also I use my phone to transfer and download games. Downloaded ex file manager and winrar to unzip stuff. You can send things and organize them over your wifi. Those who don't own a computer can do this
Hey so I run into an issue. Let me try to explain and maybe someone can help me out. After I installed the retropie and did all the updates, configured the keyboard and a gamepad. I want to add my roms, so I set the configuration to start desktop after reboot and require log in like how you showed on your video. but when I do the reboot. I see the raspi5 logo, then I see retro type, and then a black screen with a white dash on the top left as in waiting for me to type something. But when I press on any of my keys nothing happens. I time in the password I set to the raspie and hit enter and nohting. and it is just stuck on this, I do another reboot manually, and keetps doing the same thing.
Hey man, on my second account sorry for the late response. Yes it means the application hasn’t installed properly so what I recommend (what I had to do multiple times unfortunately) is reformat the sd card again through the raspberry pi installer on your computer/laptop ect and start from scratch. This happened to me a lot and that’s just how I fixed it
Hey, great video ❤ I was wondering what all-in-one controller you would recommend for playing all the different consoles on retropie, or would a Switch Pro controller work just as well?
So I use the 8BitDo Ultimate Wireless 2.4g Controller and that works amazingly for everything except for arcade or mame which you need any arcade controller
Yooo great tutorial! I am just a little confused when it says “emulation station is set to launch at boot” what is the boot? And how do you open emulation station? From a person who just got into these single board computers and is not very knowledgeable about them.
I’m the same 😭. So my understanding is when you go to command and paste the final line of codes it launches it and when you choose boot at launch it just means without having to launch the app each time. It’s confusing 😅
hey, thanks for the setup tutorial, it really helped a tonne, but i have a question; when i go to my retropie roms folder, i only have folders for 33 systems? do you happen to know if i have to install new cores or something, or could i just make a new folder named “intellivision” for example, and it’ll be able to read my roms? (intellevision is one of the systems i’m missing) thanks!
I’m not 100% sure? Might as well double check the system you want is installed and if it’s capable with your RP5 for example you can’t run PS2 cause you need vulkan which isn’t in the system
@@vascoernesto78i mean, i meant in the sense of like, rob here is the only one to make a tutorial video like this, every other retropie youtuber is like “lol no figure it out yourself”

It seems not every package can download due to the hardware limitations for example ps2 can’t run cause you need Vulkan which isn’t in the hardware and isn’t stable on the Raspberry pi 5 yet from my understanding. Wow this actually helped so much. I kept getting fatal/failure updates, but this helped a lot.
Thanks!
Thanks for the 20secs of content.
Easy to understand instructions, thanks muchly.
Thanks for the walkthough. So many others assume i know so much more already so this was good
I’m new to all this too and couldn’t understand any other videos either so glad it could help 😅
thx i million mate! that was exactly what i needed to setup my pi 5!

Wow I had no idea you could do that! Thanks I might give that a try!
Yes, the license allows for emulation as it is the GPL (as far as I'm concerned), and the GPL is a free software license.
My usb rom service isn't working:[ ... I enabled the option.. no clue why I can't get the folder to build subfolders...
I believe the subfolder starts don’t work with usb. I had to do it manually but going into the documents on RP5 and place them in there
after making the retro pi boot on start up how to i stop that and go back to put the command in so i can add more roms?
Great walkthrough thanks
Mines keeps crashing when I select Basic Install.
It also say, “emulationstation: command not found”

Did Super Mario 64 run out of the box after installation? I came up with some infos that you need to set a config line at first...
It did but for some reason when I updated it all N64 and GameCube roms no longer work?
I’m looking into why so if I find a solution I’ll let you know!
thaks bro very helpfull and easy as the pi5 doesnt support the retropie images for some reason its downloading right now
ITS ACTUALLY WORKING !!! but any idea hoe to run N64 games?
it seems N64 is very hit or miss, some installs it works, others it doesn't. its super weird
